Malaysians -- especially politicians those wearing Barisan colours, and men wearing the white robes -- have such twisted sense of heroism.
I'm 'riting', writ(H)ing and truly writing this post with a twisted hand, so please read in between the blank spaces.
From the Land of mGf Yan comes this downer, as frontpaged by theSun this mo(U)rning:
Sawarak

Prophet

editor quits
PETALING JAYA:A Sarawak newspaper
is in trouble for reproducing a controversial cartoon
that insulted Islam, which has sparked condemnation
and massive protests in the Muslim world.
The Sarawka Tribune's editor-on-duty
Lester Melanyihas resigned after
a caricature depicting the Prophet Muhammad as a
terrorist appeared on Page 12 of the paper on
Saturday.
The Tribune published a "notification" on its
front page yesterday. It reads in part: "Although the
text accompanying the caricature was not legible so as
to give meaning to the caricature, the publisher and
editorial committee feel that the said extract should not
have been published at all." ...~~~~~~~
DESIDERATA: Go read the report in full.
This issue maketh Desiderata "extremely uncomfortable".
The latest "fallen hero" -- Lester Melanyi --
shows the inherent occcupational hazards working in the
4th Estate in Malaysia, or anywhere in the not-so "free world".
Like the two senior Editors of the China Press who fell
with the NudeSquat, are these the "true fallen heroes" felled
as being the target-victim in "Shoot The Messenger" practice
by some "heroes" up there?
My EsteemedReaders, you tell me!

"~~~~~~~Beyond the Mask
I have been disturbed by the unexpected unmask of a Church leader at the pulpit on the first day of Chinese New Year. What were rightfully my words were claimed by the leaders as hers. At that spur of moment, I even took a de-tour and left the Church through the side door to avoid shaking hands with the leader.
Tension built up yesterday while in a conversation with a church friend. I picked up that the same lie was repeated at the Chinese New Year visitations by the leader.
I was in total shock and disbelief that a leader can be so egotist, and being a boaster who claimed things she had no right to claim. I was restless last night. I told a learned friend this early morn and asked whether I had made our leader to be larger than life, to be something more than human..."~~~~~~~
The above extract also maketh Desiderata "extremely uncomfortable".
When I'm feeling thus, I often try to "diluteZ" the seriousness of the issue for the victim -- in this case, mGf, YAN, by seeing it "in lighter vein".
Hence my Comment at her Blog -- reproduced here In TOTO -- yes, I "game" a li'l -- to wits:
"*******desiderata said...

I initially thought it's Alexander Dumas' Man in the Iron Mask I was reviewing -- Catsville fe-mail, from the pulpit?
Let me sign a contrat with thee at our next meet? You tell the story -- I rite the tail!
May make my RM20milion yet before The Boar bores us to ... queendom Kum (price coming down by every passing dae, RM9 only for box of 24, from RM15 jest before Nien 30...:)

But I am lifted a li'l by Yan's closing actin her "angry" post:
"When you enter someone's life, whether by plan, chance or coincidence, consider what your lesson will be. Will you teach love or a harsh lesson of reality? When you die, will your life have resulted in more loving or more hurting? More comfort or more pain? More joy or more sadness? Each one of us has the power over the balance of the love in the world. Use it wisely!
Don't miss an opportunity to nudge the world's scale in the right direction!"
DESIDERATA:
I have given my ER glimpses into my stand/stance on "Religion, Faith and Death" -- tight brief is that I tread warily into such terrain, and in most times, I would prefer to make in a personal encounter-accounting between an Individual and his/her Maker, however he/she deems the Almighty to be. (The later part of the tenet of living I've learned from my sifu, Max Ehrmann...:)
To mGf Yan, I say this: There are as many crocodiles as there are mankeys in Parliament House -- as compared with there are as many wolves dressed in sheep's clothing, even those posturing from the pulpit! ... butt nowadays more likely attired in branded suits and staying at 6-star suites, butt do I digress?
Who, indeed, I ask, are the "fallen heroes" in deed?
And lastly, not lustily in case my soul be con-damned, from the party professing great leaders-in-waiting --I'll bear with them since it's CNY, so they are aloud to Eat, Drink and Be Merry -- butt I don't see who are the "heroes" here:

~~~Don’t blow up bald issue, MCA division urges public
PUCHONG: The public should cool down and not over-react over the Kajang police's move to shave bald the 10 mahjong players, said the Puchong MCA division service centre.
“It is an isolated incident that happened in only one police station where it looks like discretion was not used,” said Liew Yew Fook, Puchong MCA division service centre head at a press conference yesterday.
Also present were representatives from two resident associations, Puchong MCA 14th mile branch and Kuan Chee Heng, the special assistant to Seri Serdang state assemblyman Datuk Satim Diman.
They urged the public not to blow the issue out of proportion and also urged the police to be more sensitive when conducting lock-up procedures.
“There is no point in the public trying to be heroes by forming groups to challenge the police,” said Kuan.
“However, we do disagree with the police action and will be sending a letter to the Selangor CPO to urge the police to practice more discretion in future during festive seasons.”
The representatives then advised the Chinese community not to play mahjong in coffeeshops as that was considered gambling.
“Mahjong should be played in the house for fun and leisure and should not have the element of gambling,” they added. ~~~
DESIDERATA: I'd be glad to be educated/informed by my ER if anyone knew if this Puchong MCA division existed several years ago when UMNO Youth led by its esteemed deputy head marched on the Selangor Assembly Hall building "threatening to burn down Suqui's office housed within"...
Then the Police personnel were very restrained and polite in allowing the UMNO Youth youths demonstarting with banners and yelling slogans demanding that Suqui withdraw its Elections Appeals (which to Desi were a democratic process Suqui were taking part in, in a most civil manner).
Or maybe then the Puchong MCA were "heroes" living up to the Eat, Drink and Be Merry motto preached by their youth leaders -- Want to Become An Instant Millionaire, anyone at 27?
I am waiting for my Falln Angel to speak to me in my Dream, Day- or Night-ie also-can.
Hi Desi:
The common people always bear the brunt when politicians unmask themselves. I empathise with you people as I feel the situation here is already ludicrous and how much lower can it go? Must ask Mr Chubby Checker, the limbo rock man.
To have good health and peace of mind, don't read those headlines in the papers, but make your own plans. Those jokers will drag on and on, with no light at the end of the tunnel, UNLESS the dominant party and its community are ready and willing to take drastic change in fundamental ideology. For me, I will bet on the million dollars sweep stake!
hi joe-psc:
A million dollars only?
Not enough, even in sin-denomination.
Help desi to achieve dat RM20million?
Raise the bet 10 times-lah, then we'll all adjourn to that I-LAND
