RIP: Sarawak Tribune (4)

subtitled: First Cooperation, then CO-OPTION, finally Copulation

If in the past Desi did not truly feel the blueness of MondaeBlues, this morning he for the first time knows the tru calling of Blue on Blue.
If you were a journalist, the news headline really maketh you blue.
Then you read the Contents, it maketh your face turn bluersteal.
Further reading maketh the tummy churn, and Desi had to rush to the wash room to:
unbutton his western suit-and-tie, exposed (can be offensive to some insensitive MMalaysians, though not with the type I encounter in my daily luife so far!) his China-made Crocodile brand (M) T-shirt, and started to puke ...
Did I eat something laced with wat? arse... -- no wonder what came out into the toilet bowl was the bluest puke of damned all.

AAftyer a fould, or false start, DESIDERATA follows yesterday's FORMAT in his comments today -- the scientific method in dissecting information and views ala Shylock Homes or Hercules Perut has grown bold and addictive. Is that goode or badder?This time even the headline is subject to scrutiny!

Zam: Print media fond of aping western press

(DESIDERATA: This is a supreme insult to the western press, Desi's IMHO)

SUNGAI PETANI: The media have overstepped the boundaries of freedom, Deputy Information Minister Datuk Zainuddin Maidin said.
(DESIDERATA: What boundaries? Reporting on what a Danish newspaper carried? Has this MoI guy not heard of what's Global-isation and Information Age?)

He said the print media in the country had failed to understand the true meaning of press freedom and was fond of aping the western press in their pursuit of press freedom.
(DESIDERATA comment in Two parts:
*"true meaning of press freedom" -- is there one 'truth'? Isn't anything as "abstract" as Truth quite a subjective matter?
** "fond of aping the western press" --- the Malaysian press? The Doggie in Peacuts says: Bleah!:(

Yeah, that will be the day in spiriteDestination when governed by the mis'honourable Desi and Howsy&Co!)
Remember SPIRITEdESTINATION FLIER and SIEN?

“There is evidence to show that they (certain media) are not being sensitive over certain issues. This happens because there are journalists from the local media who, having served with the foreign media, embrace the western-style freedom and not freedom the Malaysian way,” he said.

(DESIDERATA: In my knowledge, there are only a desperate "few" journalists who have served in foreign media who would care to want in work in local media -- so may be the honourable one -- a Yang Berbormat is an honourable one, aint he? -- would care to educate us with some nama and instances?

Thus, the Printing Presses and Publications Act, 1984 and the Sedition Act should be upheld to prevent abuse of press freedom, he said.
(DESIDERATA: IMHO, the more apt is to replace "abuse" with "practice" ...)

“The print media organisations are reminded that the freedom given to them by the Government is not meant for them to profit from irresponsible reporting,” he told reporters after launching the Merbok Parliamentary Community Development and Welfare Council yesterday.
(DESIDERATA: IMHO, the more apt is to replace "from irresponsible reporting" with "spinning Politicians-Media and Corporates-Media Nexus"...)

Zainuddin said press freedom in Malaysia required journalists to carry out in-depth research before reporting and printing the news.
(DESIDERATA: I have to agree 100% with the Honourable Deputy Minister on this one. Had they done so, the media would have found that certain other big-nama sources had featured the images of Prophet Muhhamad long before the 'Danish culprit' ...)
NOTE: mGf Howsy has a current entry on this -- butt don't tell ZAM I encouraged you to visit this lundun-based Weblog -- it may be hazardous to your health or "hell", as some not-so-goode-in-engrund, like Desi occasiobnally, put it! Ignore the last part, it's Desi engaging in pray-pray, or digression, which is a Blogger's self-inflicted luxury.

“The most recent example was the ear-squat controversy. The media must ensure that press freedom allowed by the Government is not abused to the extent of causing adverse implications in issues involving religion, race, community rights and so forth,” he added.
(DESIDERATA: Yes, the one particular China Press made a mistake which it admitted to -- identifying the girl/woman caught on video as a mainland Chinese nationa -- but did n't the Deputy Minister, also an MP, know that just days before, his fellow MP Teresa Kok, did make a similar report with FOUR, not one! Chinese nationals similarly abused?
The core substance of the China Press report was not wrong -- that of himan rights abuse, never mind the ethnicity of the victiims -- Malay, Chinese, Indian or Eskimonians, be their blood commonly red, Yes/No? Butt when you want a scapegoat, even a young lamb will do, Yes? Or an old cow, No?

He also lambasted a report in a Tamil newspaper claiming that TV2's Tamil newscasters had been instructed to wear baju kebaya while on duty.

The report was untrue and dangerous because it could lead to dissatisfaction within the Indian community, he said.

“Don't play up racial issues based on something that isn't true. We do not force Tamil newscasters to wear baju kebaya. We only asked for the cooperation of the newscasters to wear it.” (This last emphasis -- bolded highlight -- is mine, Desi's)

DESIDERATA: Can I borrow mGf Howsy's rebutt here? Sometimes great minds think alike. I think Howsy has a great mind. Mine mind is milder, No?

HOWSY'S:

~~~~~~~Oh, I have nothing against the saree...as long you don't add chastity belt to it.~~~~~~~
As to some ER asking what's the ranting all about in today's almost finished post, in relation to the Sub-title, Desi's admonition:
"When you are an artist paiting a portrait, don't paint until the intestines show-lah," one Mr Coww told me many times.
PS: Someone whispered to me as I closed: the prequel to the sub-title: CON-traceptiontook birth before Copulation...but just after Adam and Eve.
An After Thought, Aloud&Allowed Steal: but CON-traception did not take off in a big way in China, I'm told, but CON(in)formation did. Malaysia media is following closely behind.
Seya, Keep Well,
May our angels watch over
where You and I do quietly dwell.
Desi,
If we don't ape the western countries and be more open and liberal in the standard of journalism, we would always be 'katak bawah tempurung.'
If we don't open up our mindset, we are only destroying ourselves. Malaysia is like a small fish competing with the USAs, Indias and Chinas.
We need to be confident of ourselves, have faith in our rakyat instead of being very afraid of our shadow and using scare tactics to make us toe the line. They can lead us to the water, but can they actually force us to drink the water as well?
Hi Desi,
Are we too old for Valentine - I guess it depends entirely on how we feel, and nothing else matter. Happy Valentine, my friend.
There is nothing wrong to ape, question is what and not who to ape.
If we ape the great ideas, the good and noble deeds,
With a prerequisite of a willingness to emulate,
And a humility to acknowledge we're not the best,
We will become a respectable and progressive people,
Be on our way to a higher level of achievement.
But, if we shut ourselves from the outside world,
We turn ourselves like frogs confined in a dark well,
With only the familiar sky above our heads.
We will then just cohabit, cooperate, and copulate,
Have a tight-knit homogenous community,
Free from intrusion, free from outside influence,
But still confined in the same dark well,
That now seems to be smaller and boring for comfort,
Oblivious to the world and time that pass us by,
And we can only croak (call), croak (complain) and croak (die).
Well, that was just an anecdote.
