What's Da RATionale?

“Under Section 9a of the Lock Up Rules, we can shave a detainee’s head bald, so we are just exercising whatever the law required us to do,”
he added.

DESIDEARATA's Q: Yeah? Butt What's Da Rationale?

I'm still in Year of Da Friendly Dog's Year mood, so I'll put my case in barking spirit, not niting!

BALD UPROAR?

IsIt a Crime?
Playing MahORPahJong? As a social pastime, especially over CNY?

At Desi's Place I have been running an occasional TeAser or ChallengiA to sEXERCISE my ER' minds. Practice MaPaketh Perfect, yes?

Butt Desi without fail -- always, consistently -- asks of my EsteemedReaders, please Give Da RATionale, Mousey, Howsey-one also-can!
Desi's main objective is to teAch I.Cowws to use Critical Mind to any problem, puzzle, or riddle, or as used by snoopers like the esteemed Sherlock Holmes, and Hercule Poirot, in applying the Scientific Method, in solving Da Crime...

So let's visit the Balding Squat, oops, Squad, from Your Royal Force, to use the title ascribed by mGf based in Lundun, reading also-can. Seconded strongly by mGf from Sibu, catsville also-can.

That's why Desi has expressed  when a certain University in dear olde Malaysia used an Objective Test to examine their students -- compounded by using English using Grik! You can even throw a dice to pick an answer ...
If you use the Subjective Test, at least the candiadte is examined on his Critical Mind - the Thinking Process, requiring him/her to give the rationale or expalnation to defend his answer.
Even you you deviate from the "standard" answer, you can win marks for your "rationale" if well psotulated.
As Desi puts it, if you convince me that your "mousey" answer is as good as the "roaring lion's", I'd give you a Special Pric(z)e!

But here's the CNY :SHOCKER: after SquatGate, SnoopGate, and BillonaireGate.

From page 4, The Star, Feb 4, 2006:

Kajang OCPD: It's normal procedure

KAJANG: “It is normal procedure to hold a detainee in a lock-up as long as needed until investigations are thoroughly completed,” Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Noor Hakim said.

He explained why a group of 11 elderly friends whose heads were shaved bald, were only released after being detained for over 18 hours.

“They were detained for over 18 hours because we picked up a total of 88 people that day in various operations the district police conducted,” he said.

Police raided vice dens and cracked down on narcotics, gambling and fireworks activities.

“We had to record each and everyone’s statement and investigate them before we could actually release anyone. This is standard police procedure,” said ACP Mohd Noor.

“Under Section 9a of the Lock Up Rules, we can shave a detainee’s head bald, so we are just exercising whatever the law required us to do,”
he added.

The men, aged between 31 and 69, had their Chinese New Year reunion mahjong session in a coffee shop in Kajang cut short when police raided the place and arrested them for gambling illegally on Monday.

They were taken to the district police headquarters, put in a lock-up and had their heads shaved bald.

In a press conference on Thursday, the men claimed that while in the lock-up, they were forced to strip to their underwear.

They said they were released at 6.30pm the next day.

ACP Mohd Noor said the lock-up cells at the police headquarters could only hold 18 people and police personnel had to monitor the rest who were placed elsewhere in the station.

DESIDERATA: Yes, we know that
“Under Section 9a of the Lock Up Rules, we can shave a detainee’s head bald, so we are just exercising whatever the law required us to do,”
Mr OCPD. Butt this is the 21st century.
We are supposed to go up the ladder of civilisation.
We are aiming to be a Developed Nation by 2020 -- just a short 14 years ahead.
We entered a new millennium some S'X years ago, or are some royal departments still caught in the time warp of Malacca in the 1400s and 1500s?

Just because some provision under the Lock Up Rules says you can shave a detainee's head bald, you jest go and do it.
Hey, what's the rationale for shaving them bald?
What's that got to do with an alleged offence of "gambling"?
For fun?
To humiliate Da Bugger?
Or for the royal department to put Malaysia yet again on the world map?

Hey, it's an alleged misdemeanour of "gambling" the Eleven were held ... it's not like they were smoking coke or opium in a rundown den in Chow Kit!

And it's Chinese New Year season, please have some "muhibbah" spirit, rite?

Do you blame some western countries for labelling us "barbaric" though I know they could be "unkind" -- butt don't give them grounds to

Ot it's mere "sloganeering" -- Berkhdimat Untuk Negara?

I'm getting a li'l tired -- can I stop for a w'ile as I answer a buddy's call?
An impatient one is waiting for Desi to re-join the Pokkai Table ... any Pair of Acecuffs, dear? I've KingPair!

Oh, Howsy, you've got a royal flush?
Olrite, you can take Da Pool, it's Infested with Royal Crocos!:)
I told thee: Don't jump in the pool!:(

Hi, Desi,

Won a lot of money?

Those 11 elderly mahjong players forgot to give a big red 'hongpow' (red packet) to the police! Anyway, they can now form a bald-headed soccer team - what's wrong with being bald? Brazilian Ronaldo is bald, and so are Yul Brynner and Telly Savalas.

Would they shave the heads of other groups, like the sikhs or talibans for example ?

I have a feeling we are only seeing the tip of the iceberg in local politics, and there will be more revelations to come - unfortunately, the bad and scandalous kinds.
