When writ "In da steal of da nite", I believe my constant ER (which stands for EsteemedReaders to Desi's Place, of' course!) would know it stands for "In the still of the night..."
Rite? stands for Right?...
The "rite" refers to a ceremony -- wordplay in this case -- as to the rhetorical question.
Rhetorical question means "an answer is NOT expected", butt if thee wishes to riposte, Desi can't stop you, can he?Which (the italised portion), when re-written, translates:
but if you wish to respond with tongue-in-chic, I can't stop thee, as Desi's motto here is democratic discourse ... yes/no?
Yes/no is precisley a demo of what "demo" is about: CHOICE, as in a tossing of the coin: puick one from two.
By now, I think I've bored thee and I shal CEASE and DESIST.
Cease and desist is a semi-loyar-buluk term Desi used in COMMENTS as a parting shot to some visitors who came yes, YESTERDAY, "In the steal of the night ..."

Moral crusaders turn molesters
KUALA LUMPUR: A group of moral crusaders had the tables turned on them when they were arrested by the police for allegedly molesting a woman they had caught for khalwat.
A 21-year-old banquet supervisor and his 17-year-old sales assistant girlfriend, who were at her brother's home in Kg Sungai Penchala, had a shock when the men kicked open the door and stormed into the house.
Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Dzuraidi Ibrahim said the men, aged between 24 and 44, beat up the boyfriend when he tried to explain that they had not been doing anything wrong, causing him to suffer injuries to his face, eyes and body.
“They then broke into the bathroom where the girl was taking a shower and allegedly groped and fondled her.
“One of the men also slapped her,” said ACP Mohd Dzuraidi.
The men then dragged the couple to the Brickfields police district headquarters to lodge a police report against them for khalwat.
However, they received a nasty surprise when police arrested them instead after the girl lodged a report against them.

I found part of the solution you are seeking and it is in my comment at your previous post entry; I was racing aginst time posting that when you were in the process of deleting those comments! I could literally see them being deleted by you - in a nick of time or dime.
Though the 10 names are fictitious, the comments were genuine and written by others. I had read some of them not too long ago at M. Bakri's blog. Go read them there.
Someone wants you and your readers to be "more involved" with your NEP and educational matters; mayhaps, wants to hear some views from you. Or possibly indicating that your blog should engage more on national policies!.
Sometimes I visit 'Malaysia Today' to read the Khairi chronicles - it's quite an interesting insight into the trend of local politics; from here I get some feedback too on corresponding S'pore's investments in boleh-land.

though the comments were genuine -- and may be appropriate at the original forum -- the "ONE" commenter transferring wholesale last night into Desi's Place is "wrong and unethical".
A guest cannoot gatecrash a forum on "Breast cancers" to ramble on about "Hegemony of US -- A world superpower bully". Or a guest cannot visit a fellow Malaysian celebrating Christmas and start wishing everyone "Gong Xi Fa Cai", yes/no/wise/otherWISE?
There is a time and place for things under the sun ... tho it be midnite.
Desiderata has debated on NEP etc in National Day essay series and Losing our Country? series, and also as and when the particular issues were in the media and Desi felt it important to run for discussion here.
But yesterday's forum was unfortunately "abused" by the Poster-IMposter? to "insert" the 10 comments in a rush ... hence my appeal, which still stands:

G10 - never heard of them. "High"-jacking thy blog topic during the wee hours of the morning. Maybe they were "high" after some drinks and weed.
These snoopers are sex crazed men/animals who couldn't get anything from the home and in their desperation act as voyuers in the name of the law. Lame!
Damn impostors! They cut seditious comments from somewhere and post them into socio-political blogs like yours. The Police ARE indeed watching us (I know it from my Site Meter) but they did not do anything about these impostors! A conspiracy maybe?
