Desiderata tracks any developments in Parti Keadilan Rakyat and its Adviser Sdr Anwar Ibrahim closely nowadays, in view of the fact that the next General Elections to my mind represents an important crossroads crucial to my country's wellbeing. THe crossroads pertains to the spirit of Reform or Change that was lighted with the sacking and removal of Anwar as Deputy UMNO President and Deputy Prime Minister a decade ago. Should PKR perform below par with Anwar avowedly leading the Opposition challenge despite a bar on his politiucal activities until April 2008,then NegaraKu misses a critical turning point for fundamental change. And in my humble opion, the slide towards to ABYSS will then become irreversible and swift.
And I belatedly spied the following news item at malaysia-today.net, and some "worrying" thoughts crossed my mind.
I hope it's The Star who deliberately followed up this particular "angling" of the story, which smacks of MIC-politics being plunged right into the multui-racial approach and air that has always prevailed at PKR's functions, especially at top leadership levels. I had iunrteracted with PKR and taken part in some PKR activities the past few years, so I can say it's NOT as an outsider that I write. Also, my journalist's training ensures I do "masuk gelanggang" a little to feel the pulse of the 10-year-old's party born out of the idealism and vigour of truly committed Malaysians who strive for change for the better.

12/04: PKR leaders want an Indian candidate to be fielded in Ijok
Category: General Posted by: Raja Petra
The Star
A group of Indian Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) leaders has urged the party leadership to field an Indian candidate in the Ijok by-election in Selangor.
PKR youth vice chief S. Manikavasagam, who is spokesman for the group, said the request had been forwarded to PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as well as other top leaders.
The Ijok state seat fell vacant following the death of MIC incumbent K. Sivalingam, 59, last Wednesday.
In the last general election in 2004, Sivalingam garnered 5,213 votes while PKR’s Abdol Raman Moharam got 3,564 votes.
Manikavasagam said five names had been proposed – businessman and Kepong division chairman Datuk K.S. Nallakaruppan; vice-president R. Sivarasah; deputy secretary-general Dr Xavier Jayakumar; supreme council member Irene Fernandez; and lawyer P. Uthaya Kumar who is keen to join PKR.
Meanwhile, DAP central executive committee member Teng Chang Khim said several branches in Ijok had urged the party leadership to contest the by-election.
He said the branches had even proposed two candidates – CEC member and lawyer A. Sivanesan and new member A. Sivananthan, who is MTUC financial secretary.
Teng said the party leadership would meet on April 17 to decide whether to contest or leave it to PKR.
He said the DAP had been fielding Indian candidates in Ijok until 2004 when it gave way to PKR to contest there.

PKR in upholding it's multi-racial party concept, should be fielding their best candidate and the question of race should not arise. Otherwise, it's a party like BN, a loose group of various races, each championing their cause. Unless, the party is contesting not with the will to win but just nak 'ambil hati'. Then it is a party that only wants to 'ambil hati'.

It's TIME for Malaysians to think about providing a viable Alternative to replace the BN ultimately -- therefore filed the BEST available candidate from the party (PKR or DAP or PAS...)
Dear Awe: Above race, colour and creed --- that should be our guiding, winning, embracing principle.

DESIDERATA:
I've taken the liberty to reprise THREE comments from Raja Petra's (Thanks for assumed permit in the spirit of Bloggers' Solidarity!:)
I salute the Three Voices whose rational and clear thinking is what I try to promote, especially in the context of what the relatively young political party anchored on Multi-Racialism and a New Malaysian Agenda is trying to achieve.
I saluted tahan3 and muhibbah for emphassising to the PKR leaders not to fall for the same race-based mindset and approach of the MIC. Otherwise, we would be perpetuating the Barisan Nasional poltics -- then why should the Opposition party even bother?
Might as well all pack up and go home to sleep if we are to walk the path of UMNO for Malaysian Malays in PKR, the path of MCA for Malaysian Chinese in PKR and the path of MIC for Malaysian Indians in PKR.
Let's get started in nation-building -- YES, GOING FORWARD IN NEGARAKU where it's:
Above race, colour and creed --- that should be our guiding, winning, embracing principle.

Nothing to watch. But no harm to guess how much $,$$$,$$$ are spend on campaign alone (minus the goodies). Some suppliers need to worry whether those campaign supplies(mostly made in China, hahahaahahah) will be paid on time. (like the 2004 election, hahahahaha)
