Yes, Mr Prime Minister, We're Angry

Yeah, that's WHY some 2,000 to 3,000 people demonstrated at the KLCC for TWO consecutive Fridays!
And I hurt that your Office asked the mainstream newspapers (yes, I monitor the English ones...) to "black out" the news of the first demo, and on the second (yesterday), Malaysians (how lucky!) came to be informed indirectly via the IGP, yes, a BIG WARNING to behave!

WE ARE ANGRY because you asked us on assumption of ofice to Work With You, To Tell You The Truth.
Many of us took your word for it.
We work with you, we tell you (the state of affairs of the State!) as it is.
But did you take us for our word?

One example is following the 30-sen fuel price rise, many Malaysians took to the street to show tgheir opposition -- THEIR WELL GROUNDED ANGER.
You ordered the press - or they read thy mind like an open book! - and they treated like "Everything is OK!" (SEMUANYA OK!) -- we all learnt very well, didn't we?
The press have eyes, but they didn't see 2,000-3,000 people amassed around KLC4 March 3, 2006.
Did Mr Prime Minister and his iKabinet see, or you guys now follow that femes Chinese saying: NO EYES SEE? And that's a rhetorical Q!

The country is now being run like a university campus. Remember the UUCA is still in force, SELECTIVELY?
If you're from UMNO, especially UMNO Puteri and Youth, you are welcome to organise recruitment parties. Also, if MCA Youth gets in the act, EAT, DRINK and BE MERRY!
Ask Malaysian students like mGf "Josey" of http://howsy.blogspot.com FAME about one he "unwittingly" attended! On inspired sight, he DID NOT sign a form... otherWISE, OK, let's leave it atdat!

Let's get back to The Star frontpage news:

PM: I know you're angry
Measures soon to lessen people's burden

PUTRAJAYA: Acknowledging he was aware that people were angry over the Government’s decision to increase fuel prices, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said he would announce soon measures to lessen the burden of those adversely affected.

DESIDERATA: Only the first paragragh is of some importance. The rest is like an old record being re-played, and I don't want to BORE my readers, do I? That would be so MASOCHISTIC!

It's precisely because several thousand Malaysians "cared" to show their ANGER for two consecutive Fridays that the Prime Minister wised up to the fact that the Rakyat Are Indeed VERY ANGRY! And it has been for months, with the 30-sen-per-litre fuel price increase being the
"LAST STRAW THAT BROKE THE CAMEL's BACK"! But it's not jest the Camel's, it is ordinary Malaysian Citizen Joe/Jane's!
Now, let's wait with bated breath to se what the Prime Minister is going to do about it.
Maybe the demonstrators can adjoin their demos to where some media Ostriches, or Emus, continue to bury their heads in the sand?

Now, presenting from ChannelNewsAsia.com lust night to educate Malaysians on an event about 2.00-4.00PM taking place right in the heart of the Capital City. YES, WE now rely on foreign agencies for Malaysian news!

Malaysian police use water cannon to disperse anti-government rally

KUALA LUMPUR : Malaysian police on Friday fired a water cannon to break up an anti-government rally, after protesters campaigning against a fuel price hike defied an order to disperse, witnesses said.

There were chaotic scenes as the demonstrators left the landmark Petronas Twin Towers where some 800 people had staged a sit in, and marched down a main city thoroughfare, pursued by dozens of riot police who fired water at them.

The protesters scattered to find shelter in nearby buildings, while others ran through the busy afternoon traffic, bringing it to a standstill.

Police armed with batons, rifles and shields stood in formation in front of the water cannon to prevent the crowd moving any further, leading to a stand-off with about 50 protesters, many of them from opposition groups.

They chanted "Reformasi", the rallying cry of former deputy prime minister Anwar Ibrahim who was sacked and jailed in 1998 on corruption and sodomy charges, and then released in 2004.

The protesters had earlier rallied peacefully for about one and a half hours for the second straight week, demanding that the nation's leaders either resign or reverse a recent fuel price hike.

The crowd led by opposition parties and rights groups marched from a city mosque after Friday prayers, chanting "Long live the people" and calling for Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to quit.

The United States embassy had warned its citizens in a circular to avoid the busy shopping district during the Friday afternoon protest.

Last week the price of petrol and diesel was raised by 30 sen per litre to about 1.90 ringgit (51 US cents) and 1.58 ringgit (43 US cents) respectively in the biggest of five hikes since May 2004.

Pump prices remain lower than in neighbouring nations, but the move touched off public outrage in a country that is a net oil exporter and where public transport is poor and people are dependent on their vehicles. - AFP/de

But where are the Three Monkeys from the English print media?

My dear Esteemed/'steAmed? Readers:No prizes for guessing right!

Stop it, says IGP

KUALA LUMPUR:
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Bakri Omar has advised opposition parties, non-governmental organisations and other bodies not to take to the streets to protest against the recent fuel price increase.

“Taking to the streets will not serve any purpose, but will instead only create uneasiness and tension besides disturbing the peace,” he said.

“As police officers, our duty is to protect peace and safeguard the security of the country. If the peace and security are disturbed, we have to take effective measures.”

He noted that there were other ways for those concerned to voice their displeasure.

The IGP was asked to comment on yesterday’s incident where personnel from the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) were forced to use a water cannon to disperse an unruly crowd of about 500 who defied police orders to disperse.

Initially, some 1,000 people gathered in front of the Petronas Twin Towers (KLCC) after Friday prayers.

They marched from the KLCC mosque and gathered at the concourse area, shouting anti-government slogans.

One of the protesters even torched a Petronas flag.

At 3.30pm, 500 of the protesters decided to march to the Concorde Hotel in Jalan Sultan Ismail, about a kilometre away.

At this point, a team of police officers moved to block them and pushed through the front row of the protesters.

Seventy-four FRU personnel who were on standby were called in to disperse the crowd.

They marched towards the protesters and when they were close enough, the water cannon was fired, causing the protesters to take refuge in the compound of a restaurant nearby.

The protesters dispersed after being ordered to do so by Dang Wangi Deputy OCPD Mohd Rodzi Ismail.

No arrest was made.

DESIDERATA: SEE, the Star is so brave, reporting from the KLC4!
They dared finally cover the demo in front of KLCC, near the Petronas Twin Towers, in the heart of Koala Lumpuh. That reminds me ...ne'er mind, I'll keep for another die!
