OR is it mere political posturing?
Ala PPP President Kayveas' outbursts on several occasions that helped him grab the news headlines, remember?
Here for good measure is another one from a Gerakan's minor chief.
Desi has got used to such acts of CON- fess? ning? nect?
My dear ER, you all know how the Malaysian government and semi-government and allied systems generally work, no?
Let's quote the Awe of Helen then, from my Comments channel of yesterday's post "Lack of racial integration -- fingering?":
"No fear. These youngsters will still be able to afford the damn beemer. It's not what you know, it's whom you know. :-)

'Less interferrence in
varsities please'
PENANG: Political interference in the university
intake and promotion systems must be reduced or Malaysia
will not be able to continue to progress economically and
academically.
State economic planning, education, human resources,
science, technology and innovation committee chairman
Datuk Dr Toh Kin Woon said political iunterference may
affect local universities' ability in producing high-
quality manpower to meet the rising demands for creative
and innovative human resources.
"Universities must be guided by the pursuit for academic
excellence in order to produce such skilled and high-quality
manpower.
"But just as in other countries, politics does intervene in
the university systems to achieve social and political objectives
instead of academic excellence," he said.

DESIDERATA: You read on mGf -- go to the nearest SEVEN11, or is it
7ELEVEN? to get your free newspaper! -- and see if you discern someone
CONtradicting himself. He wants to "play hero" by his bravado, then
backtracks with a defence of the status quo, even justifying with "..."But just as in other countries, politics does intervene in
the university systems ..."
The last I heard, PPP and Gerakan are still minute components of the 14-member Barisan Nasional, Yes/NO/Maybe/Mayhaps?
