Giving credit where credit is due...

Well, NegaraKu is NOT beyond salvation if the following group of Councillors are setting an example beyong normal trend in UMNO politics. Can Khir Toyo and his henchmen lodged comforably in "small" houses as well as in the Klang Municipal Council take note? (Datuk Z, you hear Desi? I won't even dignify him with full name call lest my blood pressure shoots through Petronas Twin Towers roof!:()
But Desi ends with a PRAYER (hey, today is Sundae!) that this group does NOT do a GO-Stan after doing another Wayang Kulit!

God save us from Pretenders if it comes about, or isit around?

Six Umno reps in Batu Pahat municipal council resign

BATU PAHAT: Six Umno representatives in the Batu Pahat Municipal Council (MPBP) have resigned in protest over the local authority’s decision to allow work on an illegal extension to a shopping mall here.

The six are among 12 Umno councillors in the council.

They had petitioned council president Amran A. Rahman m
It is not clear when the petition was submitted. But in a surprise decision yesterday, the group decided to resign than be associated with the council’s decision to overrule a stop work order.

The shopping complex in question, Orang-Orang Mall, being built in Dataran Penggaram in the heart of the town here, was originally supposed to be a single-storey building with 12 retail outlets.

But following strong demand, the developer opted to expand the building by adding another floor and increase the retail space to 18 units.

However, the necessary amended building plans were not submitted to the council for approval before construction began.

The councillors are unhappy that the illegal extension is being allowed by the council despite complaints by ratepayers that the expanded mall will only exacerbate the already cronic lack of parking space in the town.

It is learnt that MPBP had imposed an undisclosed fine and has asked the developer to resubmit the building plans.

But the Umno councilors are not satisfied and are insisting that a stop work order be issued until the matter of the amended building plans is properly resolved.

Amran could not be reached for comments.

Umno Batu Pahat division chief Dr Mohd Puad Zakashi also could not be reached for further clarification.

pardon my ignorance.

if all unhappy councillors choose the path of termination to state a point, before long we will have no councillors left in the perbandaran.

arent there are mediation channel to resolve issues like this beside using leg power to walk out?

adding a floor to an existing building without due consideration to the foundation design is endangering public life. hope a sane mind will prevail over this matter.

It's not so much as choosing "the path of termination" but that
Desi found it so "refreshing" to see a bunch of UMNO Councillors prepared to surrender their posts on their own initiative. CONtrast that with Datuk Z and his bro cohorts at the Klang municipality (in the most developed prescinct in the c'untry!) -- this present group APpear like angels in the making.

I hope they last!
Let's wait and see. May turn out to be another
Wayang Kilit -- my fears, after
the Annual Sandiwara at the PWTC. Malaysians are getting mighty tired.
