They only bulldoze the BIG houses!

In NegaraKu, they don't touch the illegally built "small" houses, or the "small fry" on breaking the law, and of course, the "small" mosquito in our frontyards with the potential of causing dengue.

Small1:

Like the Datuk Zakaria Md Deros' ONLY 4-STOREY WALK-UP HUT in Klang royal city. Two other Councillor who also built such "small" houses were given proper counselling and are now considered foolly rehabilitated. Until the next time they make "fools" of themselves, like the sext one from the historic state of Melaka.

Small2and3:

In NegaraKU, they don't touch Close-One-Eye MP, he's only a "small" fry earning his keep interveing on behalf of his constituents as a Yang Berhormat yang berkhidmat untuk rakyat dan negara. Even after he closed one left eye, now he's closing his right eye. Because he's bestowed a Datukship for rendering small service for UMNO, the caring-for-all Malaysians party. And of course, a Datuk's always alright.

Even the superior State CEO of the most advanced State in NegaraKu said so: SEMUANYA OKAY!

From The NST, 21 Nov 2006:

Police quiz officer on Jasin MP report

MALACCA: Police have questioned the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency officer who lodged a report against Jasin MP Datuk Mohd Yusof Said.

State police chief Datuk Ayub Yaakob said the officer was recently called to the police headquarters as part of the probe into his allegations that Mohd Yusof had obstructed the department’s officers from carrying out their duties.

"We have examined his statement and it is the same as his report," Ayub said, when met after he accompanied Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi who visited the State Scouts Camping site in Ayer Keroh, here, yesterday.

In the police report lodged on Oct 3, the MMEA officer had alleged that Mohd Yusof, who had had several run-ins with the Customs Department, had interfered in a case involving illegal logs.

The report alleged that Mohd Yusof had questioned the reason for seizing a boat carrying the logs near the Sungai Linggi jetty.

The MP is said to have walked into the Maritime office in Kuala Sungai Baru an hour after the seizure, and raised a fuss over the matter.
Asked whether police would be calling Mohd Yusof to get his side of the story, Ayub said they would do so when there was a need for it.

"We will be calling him when the need to do so arises. Let us conduct the investigation," he said.

Asked if other agencies such as the Anti-Corruption Agency were involved in the investigation, Ayub said since the report was lodged with the police, there was no need for other agencies to be involved.

It was reported in the New Straits Times yesterday that the Maritime officer had said that the logs were seized as they did not meet specifications set by the Malaysian Timber Board Council.

The agency, with the co-operation of Customs and the council, has stepped up inspections at jetties in Malacca, Negri Sembilan and Johor to prevent illegally felled logs from being brought in from Indonesia.

MPAJ Demolishes 51 Homes, Homeless Left In The Rain

which TheSun today ran on Page 8, retitled:

21 detained as
51 houses are
bulldozed down

KUALA LUMPUR:
-- The residents of Kampung Berembang, Ampang could only stand in the rain with their crying children and watch in despair as their homes of forty years were torn down by five bulldozers on the order of the Selangor government.

Their worldly belongings were scattered in piles outside their wrecked homes, drenched in the rain.

Around them, hundreds of Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) enforcement officers stood and watched.

Earlier in the afternoon, two of the houses were mysteriously razed in a fire.

It is learned that 21 residents and activists have been detained so far for hampering demolition efforts.

This was a surprising turn of events considering that earlier this morning, the Prime Minister's Department had issued a letter addressed to Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo asking to defer the demolition of the houses to April 30, next year.

Along with representatives from some non-governmental organisations (NGOs), the residents had assembled in front of a half-completed structure which was to be the management office of a project to be undertaken there, located beside their village, as early as 8am.

They had also formed a barricade of cars and wooden planks in front of their houses to prevent the bulldozers from ripping into their homes, which they claimed were built since the 1960s, when the place was still a mining area and a mini-jungle.

However, things got ugly when several of the MPAJ officers tried to force their way through and performed citizen's arrest on eight people, including two women.

"We're afraid they might pull another "guerilla" tactic on us" said a resident, Norhayati Aini Mohd Yusof, 49.

She said that on Friday, bulldozers unexpectedly turned up and tore down four houses in the village while everyone was away at work.

By noon, the NGOs and resident representatives had managed to get a letter from the Prime Minister's Department to stop the demolition, but the residents said they would not be placated until the bulldozers and MPAJ officers left.

It seemed that they were right in being suspicious because barely an hour after the letter was issued, a melee broke out and truckloads of Federal Reserve Unit Police had to be deployed to the site.

A fire broke out in one of the houses soon after and the bulldozers made their way into the village, flattening down houses.

According to a NGO representative Y. Kohila, the houses, totalling 51 in all, were to be demolished to make way for a mega development project by the Acmar Group of Companies, to be completed by 2010.

"I, like many others, have lived here since 1964. Now that we have made the place livable and valuable, they (the state government) want to take it away from us," a resident Noralizan Ali, 43, told Bernama.

"We have seen the title deed to this land. It belongs to several individuals, not the state government," he added, but refused to name the owners.

MPAJ, however, maintained that it was a squatter area and that the government had a right to evict the squatters there.

There were initially 1,085 squatter homes in the Ampang district, and the council had managed to relocate all but the 51 homes in Kampung Berembang, said the MPAJ Town Planning Director Awang Mustapha Md Yunus.

The residents had filed for an injunction against MPAJ on March 6 this year to prevent it from taking any action against them, but another court ruling later overruled it.

When asked why MPAJ went ahead with the demolition despite the letter from the Prime Minister's Department, Awang Mustapha said that they had referred back to the state government who gave them the green light.

On the fate of the families from the 51 homes, he said: "We have given them ample notice, and offered to rehouse them in Kampung Muhibbah, Puchong, but they refused.

"And when they filed the injunction against us, they automatically absolved their right towards any kind of compensation. We are no longer obliged to rehouse or compensate them."

Take stern action against council chief, CM told

KUALA LUMPUR: The MCA Youth wants Penang Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon to take stern action against the Seberang Perai Municipal Council (MPSP) for demolishing a Taoist temple in Bukit Mertajam.

Movement secretary-general Dr Wee Ka Siong said the land had belonged to the temple and if it did not meet the council’s building guidelines the matter could be discussed.

He said in the case of Datuk Zakaria Md Deros, the Klang Municipal Council had given 14 days’ notice before it took action against him for the legal construction of the councillor’s illegal satay restaurant and bungalow.

“For the temple, there was no notice given,” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby here yesterday.

Dr Wee said the demolition of the temple was an act of insubordination, as two state assemblymen had earlier met MPSP chairman Datuk Mohd Aris Ariffin to ensure there would be no action until after the state executive meeting tomorrow.

The two assemblymen were Datuk Dr Toh Kin Woon and Lau Chiek Tuan.

Opposition leader Lim Kit Siang called for Dr Koh to set up an independent commission to investigate the case.

He said the state executive committee should suspend Mohd Aris for “openly flouting the authority of the committee and Dr Koh.”

A litany of broken promises

SILAM: Ask the 418 families of Kampung Teluk Soiaun about the proposed coal-fired power plant to be built next to the village and they will tell a tale of broken promises.

It is not the environment or heath concerns that are on their minds. Their worries are over something more basicwill they still have a place to call home?

The villagers have been told to make way for the project that will bring light into their houses. Ironically, they wonder whether they will still have homes to light up.

The village was previously the workers quarters for the Pacific Hardwood integrated timber complex.

The seafront land adjacent to their village where the complex stands has been earmarked for a Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) coal-fired power plant.

Even their elected representative has not been able to provide answers.

“They have all washed their hands. I have become a football,” said Ahmad Ismail, who has been at the forefront pleading on behalf of the families with the state government to gazette the land on which they live as a village reserve.

Ahmad, an ordinary Umno member, said Lahad Datu Umno’s former people development leader Ali Andu Enjil had helped the villagers apply for village reserve status for the land and averted three attempts by Yayasan Sabah to tear down the settlement.

“Our YBs made promises after promises, giving us hope to our dreams of owning a house in a village reserve,” Ahmad said, showing copies of correspondence with state officials including the Governor and the Chief Minister.

He also showed declarations signed by his MP and assemblyman promising to gazette the workers quarters into a kampung reserve after they won the 2004 general election.

Word about the coal plant first reached the Soiaun villagers earlier this year when an SESB manager met Ahmad in July and asked for his comments if the coal plant project were to go ahead.

The next blow came when Ahmad saw a Yayasan Sabah letter dated Aug 18 to Pacific Hardwood notifying that the Lahad Datu District Council had agreed to the demolition of their houses.

“I went to see my YB. He told me if they wanted to take the kampung, 'what can I do. Even the Chief Minister cannot do anything',” related Ahmad.

After the 2001 shutdown of Pacific Hardwood on grounds of mismanagement and lack of good timber, Ahmad said the retrenched workers were assured that they would be given priority if there were any future jobs.

“Why were we told there was no lumber and Pacific Hardwood was making a loss, when now we see all these round logs coming to the timber complex?” he asked.

What amuses Ahmad the most is a letter dated Oct 6 appointing him village head of Teluk Soiaun.

“How can it be? I won’t have a kampung soon if the coal fuel plant is built,” said Ahmad.

DESIDERATA:

In NegaraKu, we have given NEW definitions as to what is BIG, and what is small. What is Rule of Law, Rule by Law. WE say we aim to be Cemerlang (EXCELLENT) like in promoting Towering Malaysians. But UMNO Putera thinks Mat Rempit is a good icon to work on. helped by MCA Youth preaching ERat, Drink and Be Merry culture -- Want to be a millionaire by 30, Young Ones?

Art thou surprised then we land up with "half-past-six" standards, also double standards.

I will continue to say Amore:
I.S.A...(men/min)

This is a parting Community Serice Message:

Meanwhile, let's go build some "small" four-storey houses, even if it's on state land without a TOL. It buys us IMMUNITY.

If there is so many illegal squatters around, one can only come to the conclusion that eradication of poverty should be high on the priority list of the garmen. I bet these folks who lost their homes must be feeling ironic when their elected representatives and the 'elites' are bickering how big they want their piece of economic pie, these folks do not even have the basic necessity of having a roof over their head. (and their children's)

As for the Maritime Enforcement Agency officer who did the brave thing, I hope everything is well for him. He did not only do the right thing. He did a brave thing. Many know what is right, it takes guts and conviction to actually act upon what is rightful.

Pak Lah had set a precedent of not meddling in municipal affair. if my memory does not fail me, he ever said, the fate ZMD 4-sty bungalow will be determined by the municipal and not his dept.

so, the question that begged to asked, why did Pak Lah issue a "demolish later" letter in what is purely a municipal issue?

I think the hierarchy and bureaucracy is getting messy in the capital city. I am not citing anyone here and my heart goes out to those villagers that lost their home.

Hope PaK Lah and the local municipal will sit down and draw up a clear and transparent policy on housing, development and settlement of the less fortunate like those folks in Kg Berembang.

Rome Was Not Built In One Day. Corruptions doesn't start in day 1.

Some wonder why the opposition so quiet.

Under Bolehland system, if I am opposition, I will DO NOTHING at the moment. Since those in power can use any excuses to sanction me or divert the attention using the bullshit "political intention". Those people will falls back to those "establishment" herd mentality. After all, it is the herd mentality that help silent the opposition and
dissidents.

Opposition should just let the whole municipal corruption episode boiled until more "elegant silence" people speak up.
