Thou Shalt Do an Honest Day's Work!

Desi seeks inspiration from mGf, who include max the erring one, and a luvly woman with a yen for l'vin'.

From ehrmann comes:

Work

I ask no odds of any man,
I am not one that follies sway.
I am the source of my rewards,
I do my work each day.

The fruit of trees, gthe grain of fields,
Wherever use and beauty lurk --
The good of all the world belongs
To him who does his work.

It matters not if rich or poor,
This is the future's great command,
Who does not work shallcease to eat;
Upon this rock I stand.

Though work bring naught of power
nor wealth
Spare me from want of common needs,
And give a share of manyly health,
A few good friends of honest deeds;

And till death's peaceful slumber nears
A life of undishonoured years.

The above is the closing poem in that Desiderata pome which I have a copy which I maketh availabnle for rental the offer of which i now withdraweth because there had been no takers since first pronounced.
Australia and Malaysia, I have said often, are two damn bloody lucky countries! No one need to die of hunger if he's able-bodied. It's so true even today. In Malaysia any able-bodied person will NOT starve if he/she is willing to put God's given basic skills to use -- waiting by the table would earn one RM3 per hour plus two round (I know there's square meal, is there round ones? Ah, ne'er mind, taking PL liberties...besides erring, is my other nickname.) meals.
It's a shame for Desi to see some lazy bones (able-bodies men in their thirties) stretching out their hands to "beg" for a ringgit or two when they can easily work to earn more than that ... Sad, so sad. I've stopped pampering such ...My present-day belief: One shalt do an honest day's work, and the Good Lord will bless one abundantly.I Say Amen.

Another lament: I've become reluctant to lend my "treasured" booker to any T, D and Harriet because I might just sya goodbye forver to a particular luv story. Money can be eraned BUT A DOG-EARED COPY OF "ON WALDEN POND" IS PRICELESS! Thinking about Christie's auctions here.

I'm speaking from good xperience here for I couldn't find my childhood treasure of SHANEdespite searching hi and lo; no behold, and I guess I know who the Villian was/is.Maybe I should ask mGf to do spring-cleaning as Christmas draws nigh, you might just find that rare copy of Jack Schaefer's creation hiding in the closet?
If Desi's huckelberry fiendish schema did not bear any fruits, at least I tried, didn't I, so MTwain could not allege I had not learnt from his vicedom. If you knoweth not what this schema was, don't worry -- tell thee when you catch up o'er tehtarik on that forthcoming wintry night in FuRong, okay?
Do peoople steal books to keep, I wonder?

BOOKS ARE MEANT TO BE CIRCULATED
Books are a storehouse of knowledge and a treasury of mental, spiritual and chewable food.
But nowadays, people rape the Treasury instead. Rape and robbery -- they go in twain. It's always in the daily news. Mark must be absolutely disgusted. This was Desi's first act -- no, not rape, not robbery! -- RE-CYCLING, my dear, in my early days before the Kementerian Alam Sekitar? and the newspapers made such a big deal about re-cycling.

Nowadays I do not linger much in regrets-land, although I still have a few pieces, because I've learnt to "let go" of things and people who'd never be. Ne'er mine, Desi will l've another eon light years, on bread& butter with some kaya thrown in plus tehtarik on weakdays, and da CONM BF on prime days cum sundaes. Da socialist with a capitalist bent. Self confessed. May the GOoD Lord Forgivethe Desi for this coming Sunday's indulgence.

Sealed With A Loving Kiss

Remember the days of “love letters”?

Love may be in the air but it is no longer in the mail, according to a new competition to revive the art of love letter writing.

Reuters reports that the competition was run in United States for the first time last year. There were 5000 entries. This year, the competition is open to entrants from Britains as well.

The philanthropist Henri Zimand organized the competition in memory of his wife, Anda who died from breast cancer in 2003 at the age of 49.

Zimand said, “In this age of one-line emails and abbreviated text messages, the simple art of letter writing has all but been forgotten. No one should underestimate the power of a letter that truly comes form the heart and with every letter I receive, I am moved, and remember my Anda.”

For each of the first 10,000 letters submitted to the website www.AndaSpirit.com in Britain or www.AndaSpiritUSA.com in the United States, Zimand will make a contribution to a cancer facility in the area where the letter originated.

Reuters further reports – If inspiration is needed, an example of one of last year’s entries is as follows: “Heartfelt and true, your beauty shines through, with love, emoion and everlasting devotion, I yearn to marry you.”

Well, I know many of my learned friends can do better than that!
