Others should emulate her: PM

Yes, "her" is NICOL DAVID, truly a towering Malaysian in the making.
Consistent, determined, quietly working out, speaking with action more than words.

CONGRATS to a Young Malaysian -- may the country accord her the honour and respect she deserves.

From The Star frontpage, Dec 5, 2005:

Nicol wins prestigious HK Open title
Malaysia's Nicol David capped a superb year-long run in squash by bagging the prestigious title in the World Squash Open championship in Hong Kong. She emerge as the first Malaysian, first Asian and the youngest woman world squash champion.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said: “I am very proud of Nicol's achievements.”

“Her excellent performance has elevated her to a sportsperson of distinction. Others should emulate her,” he said.

DESIDERATA: To sweets, pass on our message that her countrymate Rachael Grinham should not despair. Congrats for a match well fought. Victory goes to those who have fought a good fight, no matter what the end result. The battlefield of sports has only winners ... no losers. If only the war zones in Irag, Afghanistan and in innumerable corners of the world were converted into sports playing fields ...
ah, that's a dreamer's, maybe some idiots, playing field...perhaps not, if the world consists of more dreamers than war-mongers! Mayhaps even more poets, expired or aspiring ones, also canned.
