Husam welcomes Anwar back to Parliament
The decision by YB Dato Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to vacate her seat today has enabled the Pakatan Rakyat to close ranks. The relentless attacks (against PR) by the BN in the media over the last two weeks have ceased immediately with this. Insyallah, PAS will extend its best and its full support.
It it has been willed that Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim would win the vacant Permatang Pauh seat, it would mean that Anwar will be a Member of Parliament in two months. Anwar's victory will put greater pressure on the leadership of Dato Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. (Abdullah's) hope to use PAS (the Umno-PAS unity talk) to remain relevant to Umno will be dashed by this new development.
This by-election will take place earlier than the Umno elections in December. Its outcome will to some extent influence the decision of Umno delegates as to whether Abdullah is still relevant or not as their President.
Anwar's return to Parliament is timely as the economy is expected to continue its decline. The agenda of reforms that PR is promoting needs him to be in the Dewan Rakyat.
Dato Haju Husam Bin Haji Musa
Vice President, PAS
