Somethin' Sexy:) Somethin' Non:(

I read a sexy peAce of A Short Storytoday, and
it brought back some FFFF. The last is not an "F" word, okay; ask Tom Jones if you need the fool story!

A college professor was lecturing his students on writing a good, short story. He stressed that four features must be present.

First, one ingredient is Sex -- for without it, there would be no human race, so there is no academic pursuit.
Second, one must have Religion, for this differentiates Homo Sapiens from animals, as religion governs humankind's way of daily living and leads to his/her civilization process. Otherwise, there is no history.
Third, there must be Mystery, for this challenges the reader to read on to test his imagination and detection power if he could transcend the writer's creative prowess and guess the ending.
Lastly, by definition, a short story must have brevity; otherwise, ..... it's not wise to underestimate your reader's intelligence.

So the class of Nobel laureate-aspirants set to work, and except for the rustle of pens on paper, there was pin-drop silence.

From where he sat on the front table, the professor spied a restless youth watching the courtyard outside through the window, obviously contemplating the old banyan trees, the chirping birds, both the feathered and human kind (with lads in tow, holding hands, and picnic baskets, what else). And the young man's thoughts strayed.

The professor tapped the young-man, deep-in-reflection, on his shoulder, enquiring if he had problem with his assignment.

"No, professor, I have accomplished my mission," the bespectacled lad proudly replied, handing over a page of paper. All eyes of his course mates were now focused on the potential winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature.

On the piece of paper was written the following:

The Duchess of Santa Crux (Desi recalls it read Kent in the Ori!:) is pregnant, O' God!

I wonder who did it?

The Non part is actually deserving of a separate Post, but I am still recovering from FATique/FATigue... so?
Yes, DHL did stop by, delivered a parcel of "acadaemic stuff" from USA.
NO, there was no Red Mark French wine or Nan Zhao 2005!

Because of the nature of my freelance work, I had to buy a copy of the NST this moUrn. Popped by at Saudara to peep at The Star.

Came home to read the subscribed 30sen copy of theSun.
I am sorry to see what I saw and report what theSun reported on the RCI.

If my dear ER has to ask what RCI is, please give yourself a pat on the back. Sometimes -- and this RCI sandiwara surely is one time -- IGNORANCE IS BLISS!

Both NST and Star prominently displayed what must surely be the HIGHLIGHT of the RCI's proceedings thus far, and here I quote from the NST frontpage:

LINGAM TAPE INQUIRY: EXPLOSIVE NEW REVELATIONS

SECRETARY TELLS ALL
'Lingam wrote judgment for high-profile
case he won +++ New Zealand holiday with
Tun Eusoff Chin was pre-planned +++...

In contrast, theSun (up till about two weeks ago, my fave mainstream paper) ran a tame headline, and even then, was 'OLD NEWS'!:

I was acting, says Lingam's brother

And VVE all know WHY, don't vve?

Desiderata will only shake his head and make a bleak forecast for times ahead:

Forget about "investigative" journalism in the future from the likes of Citizen Nades and his teAm of award-winning journalists whom I -- and fellow Bloggers like Howsy and Maverick -- have been saluting.

The "RIP" tombstone was being ground once Vincent Tan bought over all the Company's shares (holding theSun'sprinting licence) recently. Wait until YL Chong recovers from his FATique and I will do a more comprehensive report...

Meanwhile, say your prayers nightly, knightly, frightfully...
Go save us from the nation's leaders,
both political -- government and Opposition,
corporate and even some NGO,
Like "pagar makan padi"
They descend as Vultures on the grain and gravy train
And Greed knows no bound.

The ilks of Khir Toyol and Zakaria
are invincibly steal around
~~ Amen/Amin.

PS: I'll ride/write/writHe again, God-willing, InsyaAllah.
I can still qiuote Allah, can't I, Mr language polce superintendent aka SIL?

PPS:
Just for the record, I reproduced from The Star online edition one report, here duly acknowledged, and my dear ER who can accept that some "eye-opening" education can arise from the proceedings, please read the ***Related Stories as well:

Jayanti: Kiwi trip with Eusoff and family was pre-planned

KUALA LUMPUR: A former secretary of Datuk V.K. Lingam said that the lawyer's trip to New Zealand in 1994 with former Chief Justice Tun Eusoff Chin and their families was pre-planned.

G. Jayanti, who began working for Lingam in March 1994, told the Royal Commission of Inquiry into the controversial video clip that her employer had instructed her to make arrangements for the holiday some time in December that year.

Testifying as the 19th witness, the 45-year-old self-employed estate agent said she was told to follow up with Holiday Tours and Travel Sdn Bhd in Jalan Sultan Ismail to get the necessary travel itinerary and the tickets issued.

She said this was because Lingam had already made general arrangements with the company for the tour.

Lawyer Datuk V.K. Lingam's former secretary G. Jayanti.
“I received two pages of handwritten itinerary from Holiday Tours for Lingam, Eusoff and their family members on Dec 14, via the fax machine in the office of V.K. Lingam & Co,” said Jayanti in a statement that was read to her.

She said she subsequently received tickets for both families as well as one Tan Chong Paw, a bodyguard of business tycoon Tan Sri Vincent Tan, for the return flight to New Zealand via Singapore.

All the flights were the same for all the parties with the exception of one – the initial KL-Singapore flight for Eusoff's family, which was half an hour different from that of Lingam's family.

“This is based on the lawyer's instructions,” she said in the statement.

Jayanti said that on Lingam's return from the trip, he handed her three rolls of film from the holiday to develop, one of which went uncollected together with the developed photographs.

Apart from that, she said her boss also handed some ticket stubs from the trip to her for safekeeping.

She also recounted how one W. Satchithanandhan on occasions had advised her to keep all those items “for future use” and “for her own safety” as “V.K. Lingam is a dangerous and vengeful person.”

(She later gave them to lawyer Datuk Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, who tendered the items as evidence to the commission).

Jayanti said Satchithanandhan had complained to her that Lingam did not keep his word on recommending him to the Chief Justice to be appointed a judicial commissioner in spite of the fact that it was he who initially introduced the two.

When asked to elaborate on that by Shafee, the witness said she had gone to Satchithanandhan's office in Tanjung Bungah, Penang, after leaving Lingam's firm.

It was then that he told her that her ex-boss had recommended Datuk K.L. Rekhraj for the post instead.

Asked for the reason she resigned from Lingam's firm in May 1995, Jayanti said it was because she had been accused of stealing the lawyer's shares.

“I left because I was accused of making off with one million Berjaya Group shares which Lingam owned,” she said, adding that she was handling the shares as the stockbroking firm was located two floors away.

“The shares disappeared. Two weeks later, he called me and told me that he had recovered them and asked if I wanted to stay on as his secretary. I decided to leave,” said Jayanti.
