Heart of Hearts

VVe grew up on books. Shelf upon shelf lined with all sorts of titles became a common feature in all the residences among my siblings, a tradition that has yielded lots of verbal banter and fun_D at the CNY annual Cowboy Poker sessions. Besides inducting the youngones from as adult as 4 or 5 -- years, no,not months for that would be heartfully SINfool! -- to Probability Theory, we tested our vocaulary, and it was a joy to Desi to meet his match among the nieces and nephews. Occasionally we relished Chinoserie jokes like flied lice and Kollek, kollek for Korrek, korrek. Of course I had to rise, ro sit out the occasion recalling some saucy encunters wit' our performaing Ministers like the Dr who went from Health to Hell, and the speaker's whose tapes surpass'd the former, now too blurred to tell. Do VVe have to apologise for the card and mouthful games we play each lunar nu'e year?

The lust is a rhetorical questions, of course, or off the 10-course dinner, but vve will surely get into trouble wit' the Law, except we have a ready explanation -- vve are helping the Eucation ministy raise the standards of Ingeris and mathematics so that when the kids go overseas, thy know how to fill in/ out or down the Immigerasi forma!:) Further, vve have two full-fledged lawyers in the family; one aspring one, and many loyar buluk!

Besides soon becoming a courtly servant, Joanna C. has shown some talent approximating the Uncle's poetic leanings. Another poet-aSspirant? You tell me while I serve you her maiden's opening lines I enjoyed, and I believe joyful things must be shared:)

So hear ye, here be
another midnight voice
maybe most times midday voice
but it's never awkward
never forward or backward
"It's Just Me" says Joanna
And proud Desi sees some YL in
My NIeCE you see:):)

PS: I believe she's talking about V-Day
But Uncle couldbe wlong!

Heart Day

Scarlet shapes that linger in mid-air
Along with boxes of mass-packaged sins,
That man at the entrance repeats to all
'Bring home a stalk to show how you feel!'

A particular date of the second month
Presents with it smart themes and schemes,
While many rush to purchase and spend,
Lords of consumerism laugh to their banks.

Endless displays of thoughtless ornaments
Laid to trigger obligation and guilt,
'Come one, come all, come marvel this bear!
Bring home a stalk to show that you care.'
