I grew up quite creative influenced by English literature and the wonderful era of the Sixties when the music and songs of the Beatles and other groups like Simon and Garfunkel spanned the entire globe. I would like to think the medium of songs and music was the first medium to break down the barriers of human kind -- indeed, the first bulldozer to bring down the "physical" walls that divided nations -- along politically divergent ideologically lines mainly, viz communist, democratic and all the in-between mixes.
Today I feel the heART of the fantastic duo whose many poetic numbers formed the backback to success of "The Graduate" - you feel young again, don't you, having your first affair educated by an older woman, young man?
Today's message contained within S&G's lyrics are used as a personal mantra by Desi -- Yes, I did say I longed for that

I Am A Rock Lyrics
A winter's day
In a deep and dark December;
I am alone,
Gazing from my window to the streets below
On a freshly fallen silent shroud of snow.
I am a rock,
I am an island.
I've built walls,
A fortress deep and mighty,
That none may penetrate.
I have no need of friendship; friendship causes pain.
It's laughter and it's loving I disdain.
I am a rock,
I am an island.
[ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsfreak.com/s/simon+and+garfunkel/i+am+a+rock_20124809.html ]
Don't talk of love,
But I've heard the words before;
It's sleeping in my memory.
I won't disturb the slumber of feelings that have died.
If I never loved I never would have cried.
I am a rock,
I am an island.
I have my books
And my poetry to protect me;
I am shielded in my armor,
Hiding in my room, safe within my womb.
I touch no one and no one touches me.
I am a rock,
I am an island.
And a rock feels no pain;
And an island never cries.
In a deep and dark December;
I am alone,
Gazing from my window to the streets below
On a freshly fallen silent shroud of snow.
I am a rock,
I am an island.
I've built walls,
A fortress deep and mighty,
That none may penetrate.
I have no need of friendship; friendship causes pain.
It's laughter and it's loving I disdain.
I am a rock,
I am an island.
