Facing Off with RPK Again, ****RELUCTANTLY!

The following is republished from The Malaysia Chronicle, so the writing is chiefly according to journalistic style except for a few digs hear/here and dare/there. If readers wish to comment on this piece, please go to malaysia-chronicle.com: if need to, I will banter with thee dare, OK! Have a cuppa of tehtarik with me if you can find your way to Te Miang Corner where the lads are critically thoughtful, and the ladies are Peytonesquely pretty like Mia Farrow. If you are wondering what Desi's sayting, please know it's some DDC at work.

**** RELUCTANTLY means that Desi sat on RPK's two-parter for almost a week as my encounter with the refugee writter de last/lust time left a damned bad taste in my mouth -- poisoned like the rascal's ARSEnic tongue cooking up fictional allegations against me relating to some OSA-documents which I myself and M Chronicle dared NOT publish, and had handed the alleged documents to him(RPK) to publish at his m@day blog... I rubbished RPK's writes as his imagination having gone wild and hitting below-the-belt. The last repartee for the turncoat writer living in luxury hyding out in London in the Face-Off more than a year ago was: "RPK, you are a liar and a coward" and this conclusion still holds as far as Desi is concerned.

Try to enjoy the article reproduced below and my appeal is: If you need to engage, do it with civility. If RPK, Haris and their MCLM cohorts don't like what I dish out, you think I care? "They can get the hear out of hell!" Cheers, YL, de nu'eshound, Desi, de BUMmer, knottyaSsusual

John Soh funded Anwar's Sept 16? Must be rubbish from RPK, with Haris leading the chorus

Fugitive blogger living the high life in London Raja Petra Kamarudin is again spinning tall tales to bash Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim, now using attribution to a third party, tycoon John Soh Chee Wen, in making several serious allegations.

The two have a common bond between them – Soh was also a fugitive for some three years, including hiding in London, after the Securities Commission issued a warrant of arrest on then high-flier MCA politician-cum-businessman Soh in conjunction with share-trading offences in Omega securities working in cahoots with then MCA president Dr Ling Liong Sik’s son, Hee Leong, which I would refer to later.

Let's get down to it ...

Okay, quoting from RPK’s two-parter article of February 15 and 16:

“September the 16th of 2008 was supposed to be the day that Pakatan Rakyat takes over the federal government. But to do that Anwar has to first persuade at least 30 Barisan Nasional Members of Parliament to cross over.

Getting 30 Barisan National Members of Parliament to cross over was not that much of a problem. All it needs is money, RM300 million to be exact — to pay each Member of Parliament RM10 million as an ‘inducement’ to cross over. The problem would be: after paying them the RM300 million, which would have to be in advance, of course, how can they be assured that Umno would not up the figure by RM15 million and buy them back?"

Reference was also made to Anwar having “billions stashed away overseas”, when RPK reported Soh as challenging Anwar to fund the 30 BN members of parliament at RM10million apiece in crossing over to Pakatan Rakyat in the incident popularly referred to as “916.

Not for privatization

I spoke to PKR vice-president Tian Chua, and he rebutted RPK’s latest writings as all fiction, to the effect that this RPK thinks so high and mightily of John Soh as a strategist that we are so lacking as to resort to co-opt him to become the party’s think tank?

Tian laughed at the ridiculousness of it all. And while acknowledging that Soh did contribute some monies to help the PKR headquarters at Tropicana Square, the MCA tycoon’s contributions did not run into “tens or hundreds of millions” as RPK would like to give the impressions of.

Tian added that while the party welcomed financial contributions from the public, not that their contributions could “buy influence” of the party’s decision-makers, especially like privatizing the strategy director’s post (which Tian once held, now passed on to a former Petronas top executive, Rafizi Ramli).

As Anwar did pledge, no way would the party “use money to buy” over the 30-odd MPs in the weeks before the 916 incident. Tian pointed out the “contradiction” in RPK’s third-party allegations that Anwar had billions stashed overseas; if this was true, why then the need to seek out Soh’s help for that RM300million?

"Yes, the more parties were involved in such a “secret plan” – nothing less than a change of government! -- the more likelihood of exposure/expose before time, hence failure of the plot, isn’t it?” Desi’s thinking aloud.

Soh's 'brilliant' mind

RPK also attributed to Soh’s brilliant mind chiefly responsible for Anwar’s comeback win at Permatang Pauh parliamentary by-election, which again Tian laughed off as RPK’s fictional dish. My media sources did tell me RPK helped out Nurul Izzah Anwar’s maiden campaign in Lembah Pantai, and finally succeeded in overthrowing now Cowgate chief Sharizat Jalil.

By the way mention, this band of Nurul-supporters have their own dark agenda, including RPK’s lieutenant Haris, as seen in Zaid’s campaign for PKR deputy presidency. These low-down curs tried various ways to drive a wedge between father-and-daughter, with many so-called bloggers cheering Nurul to step in to contest the deputy president’s post on Zaid’s voluntary withdrawal. As they say, the rest is history – Zaid departed before the final whistle, and Nurul – credit to her her intelligence! – did not bite the bait.

And after RPK’s salvo using third party Soh to spin fiction, MCLM erstwhile chairman, Haris Ibrahim, continues with his supra-nomral role – I term him the chief of RPK’s chorus line. Haris first gives great benefit of the doubt to RPK’s allegations and ASSUMING THAT SOH’S WORD IS GOSPEL TRUTH, is now leading the chorus.

(Digressing a bit/byte -- Many blog readers thought there was a parting of ways when Haris resigned as Malaysian Civil Liberties Movement (MCLM) chairman just days after the can-do-no-wrong “great” RPK gave Malaysians a New Year’s gift in a long interview with several MSM – berating, who else, Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim. Was I surprised? No, as my series of “Face-Off” with RPK articles showed, which I ended with calling him a Liar and a coward, and I then decided to no more engage the refugee blogger.

Snubbed by Anwar

Likewise, I remember several days after RPK’s second-round interview with MSM, Anwar snubbed RPK back with a telling “I have not communicated with RPK” since his exclusive interview with TV3, JUST SHORTLY BEFORE THE SARAWAK STATE ELECTIONS.

Many Malaysians wish to see the emergence of a two-party or two-coalition system and they suddenly woke up to “RPK’s turncoating ways” and still wish to see – unlike RPK and his cohorts --Anwar succeed to becoming the next Prime Minister.

I also believe the more RPK continues the fiction writing, the greater probability of Pakatan Rakyat’s charge towards Putrajaya will succeed. The more such so-called third forces, now seeing a new babe like Hasan Ali thrown out by PAS, try to throw the spanner into the wheel for change, the better are the chances for a change of the federal government. The Rakyat want to see the emergence of a two-coalition system, and third forces will just become irritants like mosquitoes swirling around your ears at bedtime.

WHO ARE THE ALTRUISTIC SPONSORS?

Besides John Soh, who did you think would be funding RPK’s high-living in London, capitalizing on his super ego and helping his imagination go wild with episode after episode bashing Anwar?

Yes, if you believe the supra-normal duo, some philanthropist handed them wearing MCLM patriotic banner RM10million as launching donation. Yes, if you believe the donors would have given it in one lump sum, that would be as naïve as kindies kids! This money will be handed out in instalments, or stopped midstream, if the fictional accounts, ala the “Arabian 1001 Nights”, don’t measure up to the sponsor’s expectations.

Some background

Something on Soh’s background pre-PKR days, from Harakah, end-2010:

The emergence of John Soh

The motive of Soh's entry into the party has been mysterious. A former stockbroker-businessman, Soh's emergence in PKR has raised eyebrows because of his past links to former Finance Minister Daim Zainuddin, ex-MCA president Ling Liong Sik and his son Hee Leong.

In 2002, Soh was arrested on arrival at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport after having fled the country in 1999 in the wake of the Asian financial crisis. In 2007, he pleaded guilty to two charges of securities fraud and was fined a total of RM6 million, or 30 months jail for each charge in default of payment.

Nonetheless, he surprised many business people and those in the MCA circles, when after the 2008 general election, he openly declared his financial support for Anwar and the PKR. Soh has often been seen operating from the party headquarters in Tropicana when Salehuddin was still the secretary-general.

So Haris still working in cahoots with his mentor threw a challenge to Opposition Leader Anwar with an article dated 21 Feb 2012 titled:

Anwar, can we hear from you on this, please?

Which Malaysia-today.net carried, and I won’t even dignity using any extract, but just the title

because the above Title says it all.

Bear with Desi if I now recall some incidents for background okay! (This is a statement, not a question because Bloggers so sometimes take their readers lightly, LOL (LOL for non-BUMmers like Desi, means “Laughing out loud”, still allowed)

This People’s Parliament guy called Haris is unbelievable – he launched a Boycott MSM campaign and thinks all of us have short memories – like what Dr Mahathir Mohamad says, “Rakyat Mudah Lupa!” – but he and RPK don’t blink an eye giving exclusive interviews to The Star when it suits their half-royal convenience.

Also, he says he identifies with the masses, but recounting the last Bersih 2.0 rally, he supported the PDRM by using their video to tarnish Batu MP Tian Chua’s reputation by alleging that from viewing a mere police-produced video, Tian Chua had provoked the police by challenging the law-enforcers, ordering the protestors to “charge forward”!

Hey, which madman would order your subordinates totally without arms except for God-gifted two to rush at the police armed with batons and tea-gas and water-cannons? Haris had the gall to even call on Tian to “apologise”, and of course, the Soh-financed FreeMalaysiaToday highlighted cohort Haris’ denigrating post on Tian. Is this “Vendetta” because Tian on his party behalf stung them with outright rejection when MCLM urged that their 20 selected candidates be allowed to contest under PKR and DAP banners?

Third Farce

At that time, Haris termed themselves as The Third Force, but then PKR deputy President Dr Syed Husin Ali described it as not a force at all, more like The Third Farce. Then the esteemed doctor of philosopher shared with the media a revealing incident regarding a previous attempot to field MCLM-like candidate under PKR – it turned out that Dr Husin had to ask them in their faces: “ You know your proposed candidate used to requent the pubs and end the night quite drunk?”

My question to RPK and his cohort, which I voiced before: WHO ART THOU THAT THE OPPOSITION LEADER MUST ANSWER TO YOU? You are merely NGO activcisits who use all sorts of changing platforms – Saya Anak Bangsa Malaysia, People’s Parliament, MCLM etc , now trying to “hijack ABU”?--to suit your agenda and think you are at the same level and status as an Opposition Leader? Hey, you are not even at the same level as Tian, at least he is a current MP, and had served as PKR information and strategy chief capacities, now an “elected” Vice-president.

Hey, Haris, you wanna play politics? -- then join-lah any of the established political parties. Maybe join loser Zaid Ibrahim – with whom you have a close affair, fighting his battles for PKR deputy president’s post, posting up daily article focusing on all the flaws of PKR’s bold attempt at giving every member one vote in the party’s elections.

Both you and RPK of course, like many UMNO leaders, maintain elegant silence with regard to Zaid’s one-year-reign at chief of KITA, and encountering endless internal fights, and he’s now riding into the sunset, taking along with him the new party. Haris, since you travel so often to East Malaysia, maybe join Jeffrey Kitinggan’s Sabah STAR and help him pull Sabah out of Malaysia?

In conclusion ...

Note that about two years ago, I have labeled Zaid-Jeffrey-Soh as the Triumvirate trying to unseat Azmin Ali as potential PKR chief successor, even destroy PKR from within, for brilliant strategists among them were planning to win several parliament seats under Pakatan Rakyat banner, and in a similar scenario as the Perak state assembly close to a “hung Parlaiment” as RPK often predicted for GE13, then they would become “kingmakers”. Anwar had referred to “Trojan horses” in the run-up to the party’s colourful party elections – colour coming from the likes of daily reporter like non-member Haris! --which I believe included at least one, if not, all three of them…I mean the Trojan Horses.

May I conclude with a commenter’s remark to Haris’ chorus line:

So why the surprise that cross over can happen without monetary gains. Next the statement is not from RPK, it is from Soh, did he try to get some contracts in Selangor and Penang but did not succeed? Of course the story teller is smart, he sprinkled some truth to give his fairy tale credibility.

Please guys, focus on the bigger picture.. be genuine to bring change and reform, don't spoil the change agenda and be easily affected by noise created by some little mice.

By the way, I like the work you are doing.

Kind Regards

Singha
