Several voices are talking sen-se

Finally.

I'm lettin' these jamfool -- or isIT gemful?-- mouths speak while I rest my over-worked brains.

Inflation has finally caught up with Desi the church-mousey writHer, and
'stead of 4 hours daily, he's putting in EIGHT LONG HOURS.
Kyels, you're thinkin' of goin' freelance writing for a Hi living?
Don't think twice, Forget IT. This IT is a gem sharing by one who has now chalked up 10 years' experience. And he's eating chalk and cheese most mousey times, and CON BF once, or twice, a weak, with some kaya thrown in.

And +TIME is running ...Ooouch - I feel a pinch on the sides from one Helen, in absentia. Can this lad' from Ipoh please come out of hiding -- I promise I'll go straight, and no more DDC from this point onwards. XXCept a writer's word is to be taken with two pinches of salt! And Desi's in a needful, sau-cy state.

What's good for the goose is also good for any gender.

GEM1 from a former Prime Minister ~~ from TheSun page 2, ++like a river flows ~~~~~

Don't relegate religion to
backyard of the soul: DrM

ASTANA (Khazakhstan): Religion
cannot and must not be relegated
to the backyard of the human soul,
Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said yesterday.

It has an important place in the lives of
individuals, families, society, nations and,
eventually, the world "that is, if we are eager
to create a new world order of freedom, justice, love and peace".

The former premier said this when addressing
the Second Congress of Religious Leaders of Traditional Religions here.

He said religion is today unfortunately relegated
to the backyard of the soul and this is why religion
which, in fact, must have the essence of love and brotherhood
in everybody's life and society, seems to have become the reason
for strife and tension.

"This is a very timely congress since the world is now in turmoil
and anxiety,"
he said.

He said in a large way the world still remains primitive
because it still thinks that killing people is a way to solve
problems between peoples, all in the name of God.

"Time has come for us to reject the idea that war can help resolve
the problems of disagreement between peoples,"
he said.

He also expressed the conviction that "mutual relations between people
may be resolved through negotiations. Only this way we can stop the killings that continue today".

GEM2 from an often reclacitrant MP ~~ theStar, page N18: see Desi is very fair, quoting from two MSM! ~~~~~

MPs in accord
on pay rise
for civil servants

MPs were in agreement that civil servants’ salaries be increased to help them survive in the present times and to stop corruption.

Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin (BN – Kinabatangan) said the current salaries were too low to meet increasing prices of goods.

Datuk Mohamed Aziz (BN – Sri Gading) suggested a 40% pay increase for those earning less than RM1,000 a month, 20% for those earning between RM1,000 and RM2,000 and a 10% increase for those earning RM2,000 and above.

“The cost of living and prices of goods have increased. Everything has gone up including petrol and house rentals,” he said.

“Even marriage dowries are more expensive now, but the pay for civil servants has yet to increase.

“How is a hospital attendant who earns RM497 a month going to survive living in a big city? What is he going to eat?”

Teresa Kok
(DAP – Seputeh) stressed the need to increase the salaries and allowances of policemen by two to three times.

This would attract more young people to join the force.

“Policemen in other countries such as Britain get paid more than ordinary professionals, but not here,” said Kok.

She was surprised that Budget allocations were given for CCTVs and patrol cars but more allocation was not given to salaries.

MPs have the responsibility to speak up on any discrepancy in the delivery system, said Dr Wee Ka Siong (BN – Ayer Hitam).

“If there are leakages and we don’t reprimand and give constructive input, then we are just like them (those who created the problems).”

~~~~~~~~
Desi:
See, Desi is the fairest of them all. Giving equal attention to both Barisan Nasional and Oppoisition MPs. Who now is the RECALCITRANT one/s?
And finally, not from MSM, as I must be seen -- in theory and practice, to atten to both the MSM and the rising 5th Estate, is pinching another G7 item from mGf nigh Catsville, in da steal of lust nite. NO, Desi was not in his nightie, was wearing birddie suit, need to fry, like Superman, remember! to return on +TIME to file this report, so some ER don't suffer from their daily bread deprivation.:( See --Desi is also very CON-seatderate.
Those who are sensitive to proFunity in blogsworld, please skip this sext item, first sighted @yantouch.wordpress.com~~
GEM3 from Chris, a lawyer 2B, now diverted by some nurses' attention ala Rachel at the Ward~~~~~
"I would have put the title of this post as “F.U.C.K”, but it really just made me blush. After many times of typing and deleting, I finally settle with -
F for Friendship
U for Usually
C for Contains
K for Kindness
Chris (my 11-year-old son) started his ‘autograph session’ early. Remember? We used to write autographs only when we were in graduating class, like Primary Six, Form Three, Form Five …. Chris is in Primary Five. When I asked him the reason to start early, his rationale is that some of the classmates may be streamed to other classes next year.
Last night, Rachel (my 15 going on 16 daughter) showed me Chris’ autograph and said, “Look what the young ones are learning these days.” She sounded like a young lady. I took a look, a girl classmate has written in Chris’ autograph this -
F.U.C.K - Friendship Usually Contains Kindness
And the young lady and old woman both burst into laughers. *LOL*
The girl classmate also wrote -
RM - It’s not Ringgit Malaysia, it is Remember Me
Creative! Right?
Children are just wellspring of inspiration!
GEM4 from -- drum roll! -- who else but the knotty Desiderrata?
It's better to keep your big mouth shut and let others think you a fool than to open up and confirm fast and sure, that thou art one. I borrowed this saying, but I could have been its author had I reached the Patents Office first, but I ain't no good runner.
So my EsteemedReaders, I'll just add that the above quote came from one of the ancient sages, and the last word sometimes can be sau-cy too. Like this one -- guess who's the originator? --
Man proposes, God disposes, Woman exposes.
When they published the salary scale for the police force a few weeks ago, it was so pathetic. It entrenches the reason why so little Chinese want to join the force: selling VCD in pasar malams earn them more!
chong y l said...
fishtail:
I agree -- those lower-ranked mata-mata are paid peanuts for the duties they are expected to perform. And the incidence of "corruption" is DEFINITELY linked to the "pathetic" pay!
I wonder what the blardy Ministers are doing all these long yaers -- with Petronas net profit into RM43.6BILLION last financial year ened Marh 2006, 23% up on previous year's RM35.6 billion, the Gomen could have easily "Doubled" these lower rung salary scales, then ascending with declining increases moving up the ranks.
Following that, like the Singapore scenario, maybe, just higher probability, we'll get a "cleaner" police force! The personnel in the RMPF will have no excuse then to "cari makan" the bribery way!
I pray the new IGP looks into this Salary issue as high priority, and the blardy Ministers call for Petronas to accvount for its Revenues and Expenditures, so that the Rakyat can have a peek into where the oil money is Flowing...?
PS: The net profit of RM43.6BILLION is higher than one year's allocation of RM40billion under the 9th Malaysia Plan, do my ER know this?
Don't be naive DEsi; even if you pay those policemen who had SRP or at best SPM salaries of 1,000-2,000, they will still act the way they had acted ... Kautim.
I don't think the salary of policemen is pathetic. With SRP, what kind of salary do you give them?
Many inspectors are SPM qualification. How much is enough?
It's not the question of pathetic pay. It should be that policemen should be required to upgrade their educational qualification and skills and the pay should commensurate with their knowledge and skills.
I remember in the 70s, Singapore policemen are also those with LCE and MCE. Now most are Diploma or degree holders and of course their pay is between 2,000-3,000.
