A Dashing poem from a Dashing lady

of a Dashing land.

In my English tuition to The young ones -- excluding Cliff Richard -- I have often told them not to use the same word several times in one sentence.

So why the blardy hell is Desi using that D word THREE times in a row?

As in everything, there is always an EXCEPTION to the rule. In blogspeak, someimes I write aweways4always and XXCEPTION4EXCEPTION, and for heavne's sake, don't keep asking WHY, WHY WHY? My Singapore diplomatic friends say you ask such silly Qs of your Commandant when you came out from University; but diploma holders don't ask such silly Qs because they know you only get a silly answer: Because the world is so blardy high.

I normally tell my students to avoid "swear" words such as "blardy hell" and "for heaven's sake" -- it seems an anachronism that both heaven and hell can feature in the same swearing neighbourhood, don't you think so? Frankly I didn't expect you to answer the foregoing Q -- it's what is called a rhetorical Q. And should you need to ask what Q is, please geta hellA outa hear! Helen, please throw 'em outa the window at heaven's balcony, or hell's bedlam.

Okay, the long awaited dashing poem being dashed -- or should it be dished? -- out now, the present, promto, quick:

I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend,
He referred to the dates on her tombstone
From the beginning ...to the end.

He notes that first came her date of birth
And spoke the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all,
Was the dash between those years. (1989-2008)

For that dash represents all the time
That she spent alive on earth
And now only those who loved her
Know what that little dash line is worth.

For it matters not, how much we own;
The car, the house... the cash,
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.

So think about this long and hard...
Are there things you would like to change?
For you never know how much time is left,
That can still be rearranged.

If we could just slow down enough
To consider what's true and real
And always try to understand
How other people feel.

And be less quick to anger,
And show appreciation more
And love the people in our lives
Like we've never loved before.

If we treat each other with respect,
And more often wear a smile...
Remembering that this special dash
Might only last a while.

To Dashing sweetspirit of Dashing Down Under
I will Dash to Thee a Dashing long-S-mile
