Guest Blogger Like(S) Witstaker Chocs!

In my Blogsworld hunting, I meet with all sorts of travellers. Some say hello, then move on; others stop for a chat, linger for a while, become companions until someone steps off at the next stop; then a select few, in my experience for Desi's Place, stay for many a tehtarik, tarry more than a w(H)ile, m'rry a li'l -- pulling the T and legs, some rough&hairy, some soft&tender. One recent caller even eXchanges back slaps,v'en stabs of the kind kind, and Wistaker chocs. Now I know Y - Sinland was once a free port, and they gobbled chocs from NZ and Ozland by the containerloads, so by the Law of Probability, some Sing'boorians are born Witty and Poetic. I was hesitating to add: like Desi-lah, but the trumpet jammed this morning due to last night's rain, Wet. whet.

At 9.39AM now, I haven't had my BF, not CON-ning you; buy me one since I'm saving you from buying the daily with one item -- the only news and view that matters! -- daily. And please, I.Cowws, remember 'news' with an Ass in it is always SINGULAR so the verb that follows must be SINGULAR, usually with an Ass, okay? And that's a rhetorical question. Wow! My first for 2006, quite an accomplishment I did not start earl;ier. Two fool weeks minus 24 Hours. Do you enjoy 24?
For example, resuming the Engrish lesson:
The news today is warm and friendly, all of thee get SE7EN days holiday by ministerial decree.
The news of Dr Elie's fake marriage ceritificate and Makna's chief steal awaiting with Abated breath for that RM1billion check continues to entertain Malaysians with a soup opera better than Die-Nasty, or Shanghai Bun.

This digression is to compensate for Miss Desiderata.English running away from Desi. It's a-Miss because things Xquisite are usually fair, may not be just.
A recent arrival from across the Cosway is a JP, an authentic one, he assures Desi, likes to engage in banter and butt-er with Desi, wits, warts, and more. It's indeed Converse.
I remember one mGf here said s/he had gifted someone a Converse....piece to maketh peAce, and I hinted to mGf that Time (isit a she, or he, or It?) has also run out on Desi, so this is a second hint I'm dropping/raising that on top of Desi's 2006 Resolutions List -- To get a Converse, for free!

After traversing that long and Winding Road, let me trumpet (it's warmed up now with my hot air blowing!) a loud, although, belated welcome to JPsc who is a few weeks old as a Blogger -- I'm confident his abode, An Icy Dream, is worth a visit, at
http://jp-sijun.blogspot.com.as he kindly allows Desi a rest by reprising his New Year entrance -- TWO PIPINGHOT tehtarik from Hari Hari Does It! Wellawellcomecum to GUEST BLOGGER JOE P'NG on a luvly Fridae, when a dream child gets his/her ice cream delivered on an icy dream. And Desi sits back with his day-dream...

An

~~~~~~~"*A spirit to emulate
On this day of the new year 2006, I would like to travel back in time to my teenage years in school where we were first introduced to some poetry reading by a late teacher, who loved poetry as much as he loved himself.
At about the age of young Giocante Casabianca, we were made to read and grasp the essence of selected rhymes and poems, followed by some guided discussions and appraisals. One particular poem, Casabianca, written by Felicia Dorothea Hemans (1793 – 1835) proved extremely touching with its sad tale of responsibility, obedience and courage in the heart of this 12-year-old Giocante. Poetry has since become one of my natural attractions and reading Casabianca over and over again has not diminished, even a wee bit, the pleasure nor the pain that any reader would crave for.
Let’s be reminded of the importance of responsibility, obedience and courage in the face of adversity in the months and years ahead, with this poem:
Casabianca by Felicia Dorothea Hemans
The boy stood on the burning deck
Whence all but he had fled;
The flame that lit the battle's wreck
Shone round him o'er the dead.
Yet beautiful and bright he stood,
As born to rule the storm;
A creature of heroic blood,
A proud, though childlike form.
The flames roll'd on...he would not go
Without his father's word;
That father, faint in death below,
His voice no longer heard.
He call'd aloud..."Say, father,say
If yet my task is done!"
He knew not that the chieftain lay
Unconscious of his son.
"Speak, father!" once again he cried
"If I may yet be gone!"
And but the booming shots replied,
And fast the flames roll'd on.
Upon his brow he felt their breath,
And in his waving hair,
And looked from that lone post of death,
In still yet brave despair;
And shouted but one more aloud,
"My father, must I stay?"
While o'er him fast, through sail and shroud
The wreathing fires made way,
They wrapt the ship in splendour wild,
They caught the flag on high,
And stream'd above the gallant child,
Like banners in the sky.
There came a burst of thunder sound...
The boy-oh! where was he?
Ask of the winds that far around
With fragments strewed the sea.
With mast, and helm, and pennon fair,
That well had borne their part;
But the noblest thing which perished there
Was that young faithful heart.
Casabianca, a boy about twelve years, son of Luce Julien Joseph Casabianca, the admiral of the Orient, remained at his post (in the Battle of the Nile), after the ship had taken fire, and all the guns had been abandoned. The boy refused to save himself and died with his father when the ship exploded after the flames reached the powder.
Let us hope there are more Casabiancas in our midst and the flames that destroyed his ship be our guiding torch in this very troubled world.
A Happy & Prosperous New Year to all.~~~~~~~*"
PS: There is an apostrophe (Hey, I.Cowws, get the spell rite!) in his Surname, so I gas'ed you can add any of the vowels in the gap in P'NG. In Xchanging conversations with him, Desi doesn't hol' back, so when he whispers my name as like CH'NG back, it's all fair and square. Like throwing Round peg in a square hol'! Thanks buddy Joe -- I also once teased whether he's trying to represent JoePublic of Sinland, but he's a li'l humble, like Desi-lah! Jest representing Jane since Tarzan has gone to look for King Kong lost in the Petronas Twin Towers.
Thanks, mate, JPsc, for saving at least half an hour of my Blogging time this luvly, Fridae morn!
Desi,I would love to meet you and some others here like Imran, but will have to see when I have the oppoortunity t do so. Meanwhile, lazing quietly, living the quiet life in my quiet little corner in our country.
Kyels, Wow, no TV for a year - That's fantastic discipline. I must I try this...or at least cut down the TV watching time by half, but it would be difficult, since soccer and TV dramas, all I like.
