QTake: Minister of Human Resources Datuk Dr Fong Chan Onn today clarified his deputy's statement reported yesterday and commented on by desiderata ("Policy experimentation and suckers") that the proposed amendment to Employment Act 1955 to compel employers in sectors allowed to hire foreign workers to employ Malaysians for at least 51 percent of their workforce is limited to those in the manuafcturing and services sectors. He said this is because the two sectors do not need foreign workers as badly as the construction and plantation sectors, theSun reported April 12, 2005.
