Be kind if you can
Give food to the stray cat
It will meow back in appreciation
Be kind to thy sons and daughters
Give them a good education
They will remember thee with fondness
By kind to thy friends
Selectively
Some are by thy side through winter, spring, summer and fall
Some are only by thee standing tall
In fair weather
And when it turns foul and ugly
They slither away like a worm or vermin
Worst yet, they leave behind a venomous bite
Gangrenous and belatedly you know "unfriendly"
So most important of all
Be kind to thyself
When all is said and done
In the still of the night
Done in by the burdens and woes of the day
Whose hands have helped thee along the way?
The stray cats, the stray dogs cannot
As they don'thave a human mind
But your sons, daughters and friends?
Thanks the Almighty for a friendly one
You rise with a smile to greet a new morning sun
PS: This poem is dedicated to all the good sons and daughters
and a few fRiends who remember their Dad/a GOoD buddy on Father's Day.
