chinaman's ode to crooked man

This morn was lit up by two responders to my China's post yesterday -- from a dreamer not so idiotic to mymind, and I've a good motive in buttering him up, or isit down? Then from long-lost HOWSY sending his apologies for not accepting Desi's tehtarik lately -- it's okay -- we are running out of H2O in Fu Rong anyway!:( hence water rationing for the last four months, steal counting...My appropriate reply as "When in London, Do as the Londoners do" sends a message in gist that says: we miss you dearly, attain your PhD soonest and come back to NS ...(NS is where Fu Rong is situated within; if you still find me speAking in tongue, take some Desiderata.hanyupinyin tuition on sundaes!:(

There was a crooked man
who drove Desi more than an extra mile
he made a few more than a crooked sixpence
with li'l chat behind a crooked smile

he played tourist guide
from subang to jalan ampang
after a three-quarter hour ride
this cab-driver was acting jekyll and hyde

my destination never came into sight
we spent an hour enjoying the countryside
luckily Desi is no fe-mail
otherWISE
this crooked man could have left
a rape victim in his trail

desi parted with RM26
hence cahed back with this wail
now you see why desi laments
that KL is one big wolfist city
with crooked men who have li'l pity
they add on to their kitty
exploiting the afternoon rain
charging double, he's more than a pain

Desi still must commend those he's met
who earn a decent wage with Honesty
with one lesson from wh 5656 i must not forget
when in koala lumpuh
be a greAt sumbody
like howsy, like desi

PS: THis ode has a funny ending because -- blame it on HOWDY!

Desi,

Did you read the newspapers today?

Star: Former rural minister jailed 10 years.

NST: Former rural minister jailed 5 years.

Who is bluffing who here?

hey bro Imran:

as a journolist, i can tell you the NST is more "corret" as its journo uses his/her brain cells in reading IN CONTEXT.

when 2 senetnces --each fo 5 years imprisonment --run CONCURRENTLY, it means essentially only FIVE YEARS jailtime being served. Whch is DA CASE here.

But the star is the LARGEST circulating paper -- which tells you we are truly livin' in an environ where MEDIOCRITY RULES!

PS: if the two sentences were to RUN CONSECUTIVELY, then you add 5 and 5, meaning TEN YEARS...which is not the case for the lucy DG!
I wunder who the bloody minister was IC of the DG?
And what happened to Sabah ex-CM who diced away with millions -- all quet on tyhe eastern front, as long as you ride into the sunset with the tail betwen the front legs?:(

hence, pls work double, triply hard-lah!
to get to
spirite~
destination:)

NST or The Star is better... Looks like there is a big contradiction over there...

Hmmm... *putting on my thinking cap*

You're observant Imran. I blooged about it too:

Can we still believe in Malaysian news' headlines?

Yeah, He should be jailed for 10, but is pleading for leniency b coz of his health, why cant they fine him to recover some of the embarassing losses?
Didnt read Berita Harian, but hope that they also put in on the front page, to let the rakyat know what some of our so-called ministers are actually doing when their sweetened words say that they work to serve the people (in this case, the rural poor they so often talk abt, what irony)

Let the rakyat know (and think twice before listening to empty political rhetotic)!

my ratings for 3sen's worth:

(1)nst rates 8 from 1-10 in language; better subs
(2) a 7 in overall news coverage, well organised;
(3) a 4 in political news coverage.

(!)The star rates a 4 in language (English-lah! just reminding them!); 1/2 of the subs should be fired!
(2) overall news coverge: a 6 for its "rojak", which the masses like I guess, hence it circulates well...RM-lah matters most!
(3) also a 4 in political coverage
PS: I rate both at 4 -- below par -- for political coverage because both think there is NO opposing voices in Malaysia, cf three monkeys, "No see, No hear, No speak".
Maybe other readers want to offer rankings under those 3 heads?
