Najib's "No Quota" assurance cometh 30 years too late!

Today many newspapers, including The Star, frontpaged PM Najib Razak's pledge yesterday at a public forum that the "30percent Bumiputra quota" be ablolished...Desi laments this comes some three decades too late!

The special provision -- in terms of public share distribution, staffing and housing allotment -- was supposed to run 20 years from 1979 to 1990 as part of the New Economic Policy (NEP, quite often chastised as the Never Ending Policy...), the brainchild of longest serving PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

And Desi like so many of my BF kakis at the Furong Bazaar are sceptical of Najib's latest pronouncement -- as with similar enthusiastic pronouncement before that like KPIs, NKRAs, and just recently the scrapping of the ISA! -- that it just another pre-General Election gimmick to win votes. Just ONE WEEK after delivering the Malaysia Day assurance of repealing the Internal Security Act, PAS deputy president Mat Sabu was chargedin court for just vopicing a different interpretation of a historical event named Kepong Incident that took place seven years in 1950 before Malaya gained its independence. Mat Sabu -- bless his critical mind in this Internet age and almost instantaneous information dissemination www -- just begs to differ from historians like TAN SRI Emeritus Professor Khoo Kay Kim that those who led a group of "communists" to attack the police station then under British rule/adminstration/patronage/oversight (your pick, see how democrazy Desi is:) were "traitors while those defending the station, mostly Malay mata-mata. As history is always rewritten, as I said in a post on Hang Tuah and all the Hang during the 15th century Malay sultanate in Malacca, so Mat Sabu bases his viewpoint that the attackers were patriots led by one Mat Indera also praised in other Johore texts -- so what's wrong? Is anybody going to charge me for "defamation" for writing that Hang Tuah, Hang Jebat, Hang Lekiu, Hang Lekir and Hang Kasturi were NOT MALAY WARRIORS/HEROES but a bunch of Chinese Muslim pirates who accompanied Admiral Cheng Ho to escort a socalled princess (maybe just a courtesan!) named Hang Li Poh brought from then Ming Emperor as a gift to the Sultan Mansur Shah to strengthen ties for China';s benefit so its large fleet of trading ships could stop at Malacca port for R and R.

So we want to go for Wawasan 2020 in less than 10 years eh? Hey Mr Prime Minister, just walk the talk. Don't be like all your predecessors in the last 30 yaers from Dr Mahathir onwards -- strong on pronouncements, but weak on performance, both in bed and out of bed with Dr Chua Soiled Leg as an exception!

PM Mahathir shed tears decrying the fruit of his 22 long years of premiership. Now PM Najib follows with same footsteps misleading all his Malay-UMNO flock with sugar-coated words and making sure they remain loyal to dying UMNO-oh-NO! At least PM Pak Lah sleep-walked through his five years but he had a kind heART l;etting Anwar go free -- NO INDO or SODO MEE!

If you don't know what satire is all about, please visit a blogger's called TV Smith or Dua Sen, or izzit Tiga Suku? My mind is forgetfool nowadays, yesterday, today, and hopefolly, tomorrow. At least I can still string some words into proper sentences in English! (Unlike many of our cabinet ministers, who should be carpenters instead, and one (s)exMenteri Besar... YOu wanna Desi to name the latter? Hey, get ooouuch of hearrrr!
