BERNAMA news item pricks my interest!

It can also prick some anatomy if you believe Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah's assessment of the political delay in DSAI's attainment of 916 -- but coming from a contender to the throne, I think I will stick apin at his bubble.Let me sleep over this prick's assessment for eight (8 in Chinese Malaysian folkfore means luck, so now you know Desi sometimes also believes in the numbers game! Can you come back at *AM when the midnight drowsiNURSE catches up on her beauty sleep? Ms Patiences -- not patients! -- is also Mr, Mr or in-between Virtuous! I have sung that often enough, has it sunk in? Nyet?

Anwar Has Difficulties In Forming Government, Say Ku Li
By: Ramjit-->
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 21 (Bernama) -- Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has difficulties in forming a new government, said Gua Musang member of parliament Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah."One is the difficulty for PKR to collaborate with DAP although not so with PAS, because of their differing party policies and ideologies."I think it is very hard for Anwar to form a government because DAP is their good friend during the elections but when it comes to policies and ideologies, I don't think Anwar can make it. In the long run, how can he run Malaysia with two different ideologies and policies?" he said at a dialogue with bloggers at his residence here Sunday. The Umno veteran said Anwar who had been appointed Opposition Leader in Parliament, had to substantiate his claim that Pakatan Rakyat had a majority to form the government and that the Barisan Nasional (BN) government had lost its majority."When he (Anwar) claimed about the number (of MPs joining Pakatan Rakyat), he should prove it. But he failed to do so."He's good at making offers that are populist to those who believe him," he said.Anwar, who won the Permatang Pauh parliamentary seat by-election on Aug 26, claimed that he had the number (of MPs) to form a new government but did not mention any name.Tengku Razaleigh said Anwar also hoped to attract people to his agenda by pledging to revoke the New Economic Policy."That is why some Gerakan, MCA and MIC supporters are attracted to his offers. This will have an impact on BN, which could be seen in BN's loss in five states in the March 8 general election. There are also other issues which he has capitalised on."He said the nation would face a worse situation if Anwar were to lead the government because of the differing ideologies and policies between the parties in Pakatan Rakyat.-- BERNAMA

Breaking Bread with Ku Li

I was invited to an iftar at Tengku Razaleigh's (photo) palatial "White House" mansion in Kuala Lumpur's exclusive diplomatic enclave yesterday. What was initially supposed to be a private dialogue with a few bloggers ended up as a full fledged press conference when what appeared to be the entire local press corps arrived much earlier than expected.Offering himself as a candidate for UMNO president in December, "Ku Li" insists that he is the best man for the job because he doesnt carry any "baggage'. The veteran politician also says he is "friends with everybody" and doesnt need a pact with Muhyidin Yassin or anybody else. He also spoke of the possibility of forming a "National Unity Government" involving even the Opposition if the need arise, if he gets elected that is, to end the intense politicking in the country which is having serious repercussions on the economy. On the arrest of Raja Petra Kamarudin under the Internal Security Act (ISA), Ku Li says it was a gross mistake since the man should not be deprived of his rights especially after he has been charged and awaiting trial for similar "offences'. He agreed that the ISA should be reviewed now that circumstances have changed and also in order to prevent future abuse.Meanwhile, Malaysiakini reports, here, that blogger Syed Azidi a.k.a. Sheih 'Kickdefella, who was arrested under the Sedition Act for displaying the national flag upside down on his blog site has been released on bail after he spent three days in prison. "Sheih" claims that his detention was politically motivated and intended to send a stern warning out to other bloggers. "I am hoping that they will charge me," he said. "Then I can ask the prime minister to be a witness because it was his statement, saying that what I did was evil and malicious, which compelled the police to investigate me."

DESI: Capt Yusof Ahmad, to whom the above piece of morsel I owe an AP, is a fellow Furongknight. I'm awaiting a "Buka Puasa" wit' the two mariners at Lingam's OR at a nu'e place at ERA WALK, 螦

KU LI AT THE WHITE HOUSE

September 21, 2008: It was supposed to be a bloggers-only dialogue session with PM-hopeful Tengku Razaleigh or Ku Li as he is popularly known. Due to some miscommunication, members of the mainstream media started trooping in before Buka Puasa at Ku Li's White House. Not that I mind, but the dialogue soon degenerated into a press conference :) The only bloggers that I recognised are A Voice, Ancient Mariner and the 'think tankers' duo of Tricia Yeo and Khoo Kay Peng. Since I was seated next to the soft-spoken politician, I kicked off the session by asking about fellow-blogger RPK's incarceration...

Me: What is your take on RPK's detention?
Ku Li: I think it is wrong as there are other laws that could have been used to trial him for the allegations.
Me: So you are saying we should abolish the ISA?
Ku Li: No. We must review it so that it cannot be abused to detain people whom they don't like. Currently. they can detain you because they don't like your long hair or another person who is fat.
Me: If you become PM, what change do you hope to bring to the nation?
Ku Li: Well, I think we are in a different age now. And secondly we must be prepared for the next 25, 50 years. The wealth of the country must be shared by all the people including those in Sabah and Sarawak. They feel that they are colonised by Peninsular Malaysia. We must assure them they are part of Malaysia. In terms of education, we must reform so that we are better prepared for the future. In health, we must assure the people have access to healthcare... Me: What about corruption? Ku Li: I am looking at the model which is used in Hong Kong which is very effective. And I think that is a model which should examine closely for use here. So far as the government is concerned, from cabinet right down, we should work corruption-free. No one should have discretionary powers which they can use for their own monetary gains or their cronies. I think that must stop.© 2008 TV SMITH Link to this article: http://www.tvsmith.net.my/duasen/210908_ku_li.html

DESI: If I have a choice between Tengku Razaligh and the DPM to take over from da sleeping beauty, I would opt for the Prince, just based on the following:

* On the ISA, "Currently. they can detain you because they don't like your long hair or another person who is fat."

** On RPK's detention under the Internal Security Act, "I think it is wrong as there are other laws that could have been used to trial him for the allegations."

*** The wealth of the country must be shared by all the people including those in Sabah and Sarawak. They feel that they are colonised by Peninsular Malaysia. We must assure them they are part of Malaysia.

BUT Desi's first and last and primary option is that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim taketh over from fellow Penangite Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
