Welcome to the Politics-free CNY Party at Desi's...

For the rest of this week, and for the whole of next week, as Desi's Place is taking leave of Politics. To celebrate the coming of the Year of the Dragon, hopefully this fierce animal will gobble up ALL THAT'S BAD in and for our country -- and shine its fiery light of conquering the ENEMIES FROM WITHIN. Yes, Malaysians don't have to fear the foreigners for we are a resourceful nation of talented people -- IT'S THE CROOKS AND CUNNING LEADERS WITH OUR NATIONAL LEADERSHIP THAT REPRESENT THE GREATEST THREAT TO OUR SECURITY AND FUTURE.

Let's take ten days' leave to relax, re-energise and REFLECT ON WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE STATE OF OUR NATION and TAKE THE NECESSARY STEPS TO RIGHT THE WRONGS so we can be a proud nation again. Marching Forward, Not Sliding Backwards while all our competing neighbours and beyond are on forward march beat and mode.

There's not more time to waste. The truly caring Malaysians must stand up and be counted!

Politics-free Party at Des's

While DESIDERATA's PLACE has decided to leave all politics out of this homely place, democracy still reigns here -- so if Readers still want to rant and rave via COMMENTS, that I can't help it. My feel and feedback is that the ordinary citizenry, except those who walk the corridors of power at PUTRAJAYA and the PWTC, Kuala Lumpur has had an overdose of all the cacophany of noises, silly wise-cracks, "UGLY" Malaysians who are selfish, selfcentred acting in the annual sandiwara, whose universe does not extend beyond their wants, their demands and robber baronry politics.

These robbers take RM250million from the public coffer and do not bat an eyelid when they are found out to have misused, or abused the monies collected from the Tax-payers, a duty they honestly fulfill through blood, toil, sweat and tears.

The blardy leaders after stealing our monies gift back the poor a token RM500 once in four-to-five years and expect eternal gratitude and slyly campaign that the electors must vote them back into power cometh GE-13... Don't be suckers forever -- You owe these robbers NOT A SINGLE SEN! Those elected to govern owe us --THE RAKYAT -- not the other way around! They have a duty to work for the people who pay for their salaries and perks.

Many Malaysians, including several hundreds of thousand resident abroad, say they "have wept till the tears have run dry". They passively give up and resign themselves to a fate that's worsening every passing year. We owe a duty of care to our children and their children to DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE SITUATION! We are the ones who can map out our country's destiny, so don't fail yourselves!

Some say it's no use fighting the entrenched UMNO system, just surrendering and saying, "Just give up". No, we must not give up. We must do something about the situation before it's too late!

One group, increasing strident, especially now resident abroad as young students, or more mature professionals working as expatriates in London, New York, Tokyo, Sydney, Beijing, or BUT DESI SAYS: That's not a premanent solution to a Malaysian dilemma. The fight is within the country. We need to right the wrongs within NegaraKu. PONDER THIS ISSUE and DILEMMA DEEPLY WHILE YOU CELEBRATE THE CHINESE FESTIVAL.

Meanwhile, Desi will make this respite of 10 round days a celebration of RnRnR -- welcoming Readers to send me contributions of the light and laughter kind -- defined as those that give us LIGHT, LAUGHTER and are KIND to fellow Malaysians, regardless of race, class, religion and gender.

Share with me and ER here some insightful anecdotes, and Desi will also revisit his mental landscaopes to pull out some nuggets for sharing. Yes, with cyber tehtarik and Mandarin oranges. I may even offer an AngPow if the lady Luck shines on Desi in the kambing fortnight as I ride the Dragon.

Just to flag off -- I've found no other Limerick to challenge this on mirth&laughter:

There was a young lady from Niger

Who smiled as she road (sic) on a tiger

They returned from the ride

With the lady inside

And the smile on the face of of the tiger.

(The above was Writ by Anon, which means could be George, Ahmad, Siva or Along ~~
I wished it was writ by desiderata-ylchong, knottyaSsusual!

I wished I were a cowboy in Nashville
Strumming guitar wit' not a care in the world
But I have to work as a writHer in FuRong
Pening my kepala to keep my tummy from churning
and stringing the imaginary cowgals singin' along
Such a cheap thrill!

I wave a keris
To show I am master
When the barbarians are at the nation's gate
I'll my ma cai pack and muster
The foreign devils' arse-holes to kiss

SOMETIMES, if Desi's
language is a little strong or puzzling like a riddle, it's meant to work that way. See that ANTHEM FOR NOW, I sing "My Way" from the beginning towards the end too, often faltering in the middle. Yes, that's life, we make some mis'steps, it's OK as long as it's NOT fatal. We have many second chances in life, just Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, remember what peAce there may be in silence.

Now, for Starters, let me share two anecdotes on the topic of COMMUNICATION, from A. Dudley Dennison, Jr's "COntemporary Illustrations for Speakes & Teachers"

Sharing1: A century ago, a young teacher in Alabama held her little blind-and-deaf pupil's handunder the stream of water flowing from a pump spoutand manually spelled out the word water. The teacher's name was Anne Sullivan; the little girl's, Helen Keller. As a surprise for Miss Keller, her classmates at Radcliffe College presented a lovely fountain to the collegeon their fftieth reunion. The fountain is called the Anne Sullivan Memorial Fountain. Before feeling the water, Miss Keller read a Braille inscription on the back of the fountain: "In memory of Anne Sullivan, teacher extraordinary, who beginning with the word water opened to the girl Helen Keller the world of sight and sound through touch."

Sharingtoo: The technique of listening is even more important in ademocracy than in a dictatorship. Norman Rockwell. the noted artist, recounted his experiences while painting the portrait of President Eisenhower.
"The general and I didn't discuss politics or the campaign. Mostly we talked about painting and fishing. But what I remember most about the hour and the half spent with him was the way hegave me all his attention. He was listening to me and talking to me just as if he hadn't a care in the world, hadn't been through the trials of a political convention, wasn't on the brink of a presidential campaign."
It was small wonder Eisenhower was such an effective wartime and civilian leader.

Che7ers, Happy New Year to all who care to join in welcoming the Dragon and extracting from it its firey goOdness. Sometimes I write GOoDnurse which is typical DDC -- see that GOD is in good, and a nurse is walys a caring angel, in the true spirit of Florence Nightingale:). God bless the mail&femailNightTIN&DayDINgales around hear! -- YL, Desi
