Dear Mr Prime Minister:
I extend our best wishes for your good health.

We would like to draw your attention to a Post written by MENJ at a Blog named "MENJ's Critical Thoughts" that we, the undersigned, feel is highly inciteful, and can promote hate and distrust among the peace-loving and law-abiding citizens of our beloved country.

We hope your good office will take note and take action that is right and the appropriate on the matter.

Yours faithfully,

Chill out, Uncle Desi. Just let these people rot to death by themselves. If nobody reads his blog, it will rot by itself and he is the only one syiok sendiri in the end.

Howsy said...

Ooopps...I forgot to 'state from the beginning of your Comment that 'I endorse this initiative''.

Anyway, the most the Pee Emm would say is that 'People must be extra careful when discussing sensitive issues to disrupt the harmonious Malaysia' and that's all. Just like what he did for the Penang Mob Incident.

John Lee said...

I endorse this initiative.

Anyway, minor nitpick: I believe the word "vindicate" as used in desi's blog post (at present) is inaccurately applied. It should be something like "denounce", as vindicate implies MENJ agrees with Sisters in Islam and has proven their arguments correct. (Although poetically you could argue that he has proven them right in an ironic way.)

Anyhow, although I'm a bit wary of suggesting the government impose its will in cyberspace (you know, the slippery slope and all), I consider the content of MENJ's post hate speech, and (being the ignorant non-lawyer that I am) think that if it's not a crime, it should at least be an offense under civil law, such as defamation. (Although traditionally defamation applies only to specific named individuals, and not whole groups like "Christians" or "Malays".)

Maverick SM said...

I did not read the blogs quoted and have no intention to do so. From your expression, I do support your initiatives to rid bigotry.

Arena Green said...

Desi, I too support what you are trying to do to get rid of bigots in our country. We have enough problems dealing with racists here without the need to fear such bigotry taking root and causing untold damage to our peaceful existence.

Incidentally, I NEVER read MENJ's blog since I found out what he's made of. People like him thrive on controversial cheapshot publicity.

Howsy said...

Yeah, let's play reverse psychology. It will only boost his ego if people keep visiting his blog, leaving comments and debating about him.

Let him rot to feed the germs in earth. :)

chong y l said...

HOWSY ~~ You're always the dependable one to lead in responding to my initiatives.
I also take note of your advice that it would have been an alternative to just ignore MENJ's blog; also other opinions and feelings that MENJ could be enjoying such publicity which feeds his ego.

My sharing eher was the same in reading two earlier Posts -- one touching on Datin Seri Endon Mahmood's demise, and a recent on on the May 13, 1969 Incident. But this latest Post showing the writer's bigotry on religion which can only sow discord and distress among our multi-ethnic and multi-religious communities IS WAY TOO SERIOUS TO BE LEFT UNCHALLENGED AND UNCHECKED. Hence this initiative.

To Johnleemk,
Maverick SM;
and Anak Merdeka:

Thanks for your unstinting support and endorsement. It truly gladdens my heart that within the first day, I have received FOUR COMMITTED VOICES OF ENDORSEMENT.

John ~~ Your little "point" on the word used is noted; as I've "extracted" from two fellow (guest) bloggers' articles, I have reprised the sections as IT IS, with no editing. When read in context as long as the "meaning" of the text is not affected, we will leave it as it is, Right!

Once again, thanks,
Warmest Regards,
PEACE TO ALL;
Good Night.

MENJ has banned Malaysians from visiting his blog. Apparently he got fed up after some fellow threatened to sic the PDRM on him.

Unknown said...

This is one of my comments on his site, as well as his reply.

"You know, if you want to clarify those points, you should drop the ban. There’s no point yelling at a brick wall.

[MENJ: No I cannot do that. There is an “initiative” going against me started by desiderata. I am following the developments closely. Since I have blocked all Malaysian IPs, their “Prime Minister’s Office” won’t be able to even open my blog and hence their efforts will be stone-walled.

And this brick wall will be up for a very long time yet.]"

He intends to block even the PM. So now what?

chong y l said...

johnleemk & C-Idealist:

Thanks for the Alert.
No worries -- we only need MENJ to account and be responsible for his Postings up till the day when he BANNED Minishorts. Minishort, Mei and Desiderata have on records the "relevant" MENJ's posts that we deem as "inciteful" and sowing discord and distress among his Readers, mosyly Malaysians, but not discounting foreigners.

I always respect discourse in a rational and reasonable manner in Blogosphere.

As in major subjects over here, I often remind of the dictum inpractice at Desi's Place~~
"I may disagree with what you say but I will defend, to the death, your right to say it." -- VOLTAIRE

BUT it doesn't mean a writer is above the law when his writings break the norms of civil society and possibly the laws governing the communities in NegaraKu.

I'll be the first one to subject myself to legal scrutiny for my writings and not under under sdefence of "satire", and worst yet, resorted to "banning" any opposing views.

Anyway, he has a right to CLOSE ACCESS to his Blog. To each his/her own.

But he's still answerable to his writings, past, present and future.

I'm for for reporting MENJ to PDRM.

I'm initiating a Memo to my nation's CEO. I still have faith in him, and as citizens, we still must respect the position of Prime Ministership, even if we may not agree with some policies and programmes. That's what a vibrant democracy encompasses. Agreeable in our disagreements.

But it's not Desio's style to keep quiet if Racist or Religious Bigots pollute my space. And blogosphere is -- in word and in deed -- Public Space.

I believe this is your First visit here? If yes, I extend the traditional tehtarik, Hari-Hari does it, besta on a Sundae!

MENJ says he's monitoring deveklopments, so also others like thee and me.
As I indicated, I'll se how this Initiative goes and keep my ER informed before the Thursday deadline and sending off the Memo.

Thanks for your feedback, and interest, also concern I can safekly presume, on what is clearly a "national concern" for a young, parliamentary democracy Malaysia is striving to be.

Thanks again.

I endorse this initiative.

Many times I had ignored this MENJ and I had successfully refrained myself from visiting his blog. I guess people like him are in a way our own doing. We gave him too much space in the name of tolerance.

Unknown said...

Hey Desi, just wondering, will going straight to the PM be more effective than going to PDRM? Not that I'm endorsing either, yet. Because I kinda wonder if going to the top guy is a bit too much.

I'm young, and I don't know much, so I just want to find out what I can so I can make informed decisions. Thanks!

chong y l said...

helen: I know I can always count on you, mui-mui OR jie jie. But did I see a train of Ipohlang following thee? Not necessarily putting their names here -- jest the pastries. The CON BF on Sundae wouldn't do for din-NER, maketh too mushy noIse.

chong y l said...

cynical-idealist:

...will going straight to the PM be more effective than going to PDRM? ...The answer is Yes.

Cos the PDRM itself is in some crisis of confidence in the eyes of the public, which includes Desi, and I know, mGf. Just recall the recurring issues of "illegal" detentions, nude squats, "botak" seniors during CNY,the reluctance to set up the omplaints Commission recommended by the Royal Commission -- I may get a little boring if I continue ...

With this particular Blogger, there has been many instances of him over-stepping the line, testing many people's tolerance. But this latest subject of Religion bashing/bigotry, that broke the camel's back for many.

Frankly, nowadays, the only office I still have some respect in the PM's Office, as even The Opposition Leaders has observed, many elected represnatatives behave worse than the members at the National Zoo, and even then, I stand guilty of besmirching those poor animals' status with this comparision.

Thanks for reverting. We'll see how the situation is now that MENJ has "banned" himself, that's what it amounts to when you sdhut down accessibility.

Someone did write in another blog: "Good riddance to bad rubbish," which echoes my sentiment.

Desi, your effort is commendable, just a little comment.

The Truth of the matter
The belief systems that are strongest to us individually, we would call that a truth. You express it each day within your focuses. You associate with it continuously. Many of your automatic responses are associated within yourselves as truth.

Many of your truths — all of your truths — are BELIEFS, but as you identify them as truths, you do not see them as beliefs. You do express them, but you do not identify them as beliefs.

Therefore, they are not questioned. You do what you do, for this is true. You do not question many expressions within your environments and within each other, for you assess that they are truths and therefore they are absolutes within YOUR estimations.

This particular belief system may be one of the most insidious and one of the most difficult to identify and to notice. All of those automatic responses that you do not notice and you identify them as merely truth. Therefore, they are entirely unquestioned.

Many individuals may express to themselves and to other individuals that they do not incorporate religious beliefs. This is entirely incorrect. They may even express to themselves that they do not incorporate any expression of religious beliefs, and they do. All of us express some religious beliefs, for all of us express some beliefs within every belief system — not all of them, but some.

You all incorporate many beliefs that you do not notice, that you do not pay attention to, that you do not question, for you assume that it is a truth and there is no other manner in which it may be perceived. This generates tremendous conflict, for it is a tremendous lack of acceptance.

What we are witnessing now within our world are individuals who express their truths and their differences in their truths, and there is NO BENDING. For you do not question your own truths, and therefore they must be absolute and all other individuals must accept them, for your truth is THE truth and another individual’s truth is WRONG, and it is QUESTIONED.

We must be aware of what your truths are and recognizing that they are NOT truths. It is important that you pay attention to what you do and you pay attention to your emotional communications and to your translations of thoughts, but within your world most individuals do not.

We must initiate a shift in consciousness now and move our attention to how we project energy outwardly in interaction with other individuals and how that offers a contribution within our world in what manner you choose to be generating that energy and how it is affecting of other individuals.

multidimid ~~
that's discourse on Truth after my heart, or itbe UP my alley.

This Truth-seeking is a pretty "abstract" filed, and is precisely why it is the least "writ" of my three goals as outlined in my first few posts on my Blog's objectives.
I agree with MOST of your points here but one -- that Desi does not think about the so-called "truths" i see. I always reflect deeply on various issues -- hence my Inter:ludes on wickedends as an aspiring poet.

May I reserve further Ruminations on this subject for one future Sundae? when we put our lesg up on the table and seat our butts in lazy chair -- looking at the sun rising in the West against all odds?
Thanks for thy visit, and if similar to later commenters like Jon if this be your first, a warm welcome with Tehtarik from Haridas.
