muSic minus the $ sign!

mGf Yan and our recently bestowed Conversationist from across the Straits, JPsc, have been cnstantly engaging with Desiderata in discourse, banter, even some "full of sound and fury" escapades into the dark alleys of poker, snooker and whatever joints, on on JPsc's (NOT Yan's, NOT Desi's becos Malaysians are of one kind...:) volunteered obs, "plunging necklines and disappearing hemlines" (paraphrasing to the best of my acuteracy).

Life is to be enjoyed, so what's a little clacking of chips, and batting of the eyelids, and wordplrayplay ala-PCK among friends, rites? We -- the lady with the yen for minus $ sign, and I -- do some tehtarik; I don't know whether the honourable JPsc doeth the heavy stuff. I definitely knoweth myself and Yan well enough to categorically state we are teetotallers -- Desi's defiition of one who drinks no other beverages but teas -- English, Chinese,Ceylon and non-Ceylon, yellow, orange, green ... no, no white tea. Yan insists her teeth are shining enough, as for Desi, well, ...:)

Even on serious diplomatic exchanges with JPsc on bilateral ties involving Malaysia-Singapore, it dawns on Desi that at people-to-people level, our two territorial inhabitants are so wedded it's impossible to imagine how jPsc could be distinguished from Desi and Yan if we were to claim we came from the same land. The Customs people surely can't tell the difference! UNLESS they tell us to empty our pockets, and JPsc flushes out SING$, and Desi, AUS$, and Yan, yen -- oops, steal too many $ signs!

And the passing on of Singapore's former President Mr Devan Nair, reminds us of this fact -- many Malaysians will feature on Singapore's news and views horizons, and vice versa. We can't run away from the reality -- many sons of Malaysian soil are doing well in Sin-land -- as myGOODfriends like to tease, especialy when the island republic tried to do away wit its du;ll, staid and straightjacketed image -- hence SEXpo, the Casino Resort, not one, but multiplied by two at one go.

When Desi titled cheekily yesterday's post muSic to the ears with the ass riding on a dollar sign, Yan suggested not oh so shyly "...I am really not keen of that "music" with a dollar sign in between because this is too big a dream!..."

Quoting her jest&fool:

"Hi, Desi,

Let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but encouraging one another. (Hebrews10:24-25)

Can we start with this baby step? When the first step is out, the next step comes naturally ...

I should have good faith, right?

I remember blogging about the birds that fly through the skies together in a "V" formation. The two qualities here are:

First, they are always changing leadership. One bird is not always the leader for they each take their turn.

Second, while they are flying they honk to each other. They are encouraging each other, "That's fine! You're doing great! Keep it up!"

I am really not keen of that "music" with a dollar sign in between because this is too big a dream! Perhaps, an "yen" for life in between the music works better.
"

So today I ring up an item to do "penance" that MUSIC at most times does NOT write on the dollar signs. Music is in the air, travelling among li'l nurses and angels in white, giving out choc-like bars -- uplifting, consoling and soothing. Notes Sublime.

Here comes one chorus
, as the Season of Goodwill draws nigh.
Let's get our priorities lose to right, lifting, and riding the waves, healing and high. It all takes place at one Singapore rumah sakit.

Medicne to the ears and spirits

SINGAPORE : The Christmas feeling is already in the air, and over at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, patients and visitors will be treated to piano music at its atrium over these three months.

One celebrity even volunteered to play jazz music.

The soothing piano tune filled the hospital's atrium.

Jazz musician Jeremy Monteiro is known to capture the attention of his audience.

Except this time, they are patients and those visiting the sick in the hospital.

Jeremy said, "It's very special to perform for this group of people who maybe I don't have an opportunity to perform for; they don't come to my shows, so it's nice to be able to play for them.

"I hope that they feel nice to listen to my music. If it made them feel nice for a few minutes...and if it lingers on, then I think I've done my job."

Patients in hospitals are normally confined to their beds and have very little entertainment.

So a piano performance is certainly welcomed by many.

Most of the patients Channel NewsAsia spoke to said more of such activities should be held to keep them occupied and help to take their minds off their illnesses.

Olivia Branson from Tan Tock Seng Hospital said, "While as a hospital, we're able to provide them with our best in terms of clinical service, but I believe our patients are touched.

"For such a busy man with an international schedule appointments to make the time to come down here is truly meaningful, especially during this festive season."

To further spread the holiday cheer, hospital volunteers also distributed home-made cookies.

It is hoped such activities will encourage more volunteers to come forward - to bring some cheer to patients. - CNA

Glad to know you also watch PCK - can you receive our telecast from KL or is it cable that you're talking about. I can only receive your TV1 which is a free channel; TV2 used to be free, but that arrangement had since been terminated by your broadcasting authority. As for TV3, it is not on cable (I stand corrected).

By your mentioning of our former President Mr Devan Nair, 2 words and a phrase immediately come to mind : DAP and Bangsar and the phrase "A Malaysian Malaysia". Some people spell it as "equality" while some spell it as "meritocracy".

It is a fact that many Malaysians had been part of Singapore's early history. Even in today's cabinet, several are foreign born; here in this city state, the key word is "meritocracy". Not endowed with any natural resources and with limited land space, the only asset she has has to be her people and their ideas to sustain her growth in this very competitive world. As such, scouting for "good brains" as far as it takes, has been on the card.

Having an integrated resort, with 2 casinos was mulled over for some length of time, to lend impetus to the touri$m industry, thereby creating job$ for the people. However, there will definitely be some rules/laws to help ease/address the people's concerns about the ills of gaming - it is better to be "kiasu", that is, better be safe than sorry. You can see that "kiasuism" can help balance or retard an otherwise overly daring approach. If only I knew about it 25 years ago, I might have redeemed part of the price of adventurism in comex.

Anyway, I'm just kidding - when we were young, we wanted to look mature; now that we are "aging", we want to be kids again ! Just a silly dream - maybe become a recluse and live happily in Pulau Tikus.
Do yo know where that is ?

JPsc: you travelled a lot back in time, and both my and your countries benefit. In a way, we also calim to be historian-aspirant ... I make a badder one than thee, anytime, but not at Snuker!

Thanks for the morn chat; my work strays behind another 30 minutes -- that means I'm 60mins behind. Journos have a habit - like some nuns -- of taking much liberties with time/dime...chime2?

Sin-land has enabled many YoungMals to secure good education and jobs, for that on be1/2 of those gratefool ones, desi whsipers: Thank You -- send our warmest regards to the Sin(gA) Cabinet!:):)......:):)how many, ah?

Hey, dearest jpSC, just don't mention "meritocrzaee" once2of10, sum of these blokes here dont like Blondes, you know what I mean? Ref: MM was a blonde, and was she full of merit that I hear the Kennedy brothers got entangled in her merits...

By', by' ah, these 2 words, you can mention of10, esp in the tradin rooms --
the first is 'Buy' instruction to yr Remisier,
The second it's BYe2 to your S in 8 out of 10 cases.
Crazees, Singaporeans and Malaysians share a habit -- masochism, Desi's term and turf.
