Where has all the wealth gone to? As one of the largest oil producing state in the country, Sabah should be the most developed state in Malaysia, yet Musa Aman alongside his UMNO/BN comrades are talking about the Federal Government's generosity to Sabah.

Sabah's Chief Minister Musa Aman exalts Prime Minister Najib's concern for Sabah in the 10th Malaysia Plan (10MP) as displayed through the Federal Government's generosity to the state. He is not the first Chief Minister to 'shoe polish the testicles" of a Prime Minister and surely will not be the last.

What irks Sabahans the most is,we've been hearing all this glorifying statements about development for the last 47 years and we're still hearing the same song over and over again. What's equally baffling is their call for an effective and sustainable Bumiputra economic participation, special attention will be given to bumiputras in Sabah, the question is which bumiputra's is UMNO/BN referring to - The Dayaks, Kadazans, Eurasians or just plain Malay Bumiputra's or worse the recent migrants or 'maggie-mee' bumis who get instant citizenship and bumi status?

Anyone with a clear conscience will attest that it is mind boggling, for a state rich in oil, timber, oil palm and tourism to be currently the second poorest state in the country. Where has all the wealth gone to? As one of the largest oil producing state in the country, Sabah should be the most developed state in Malaysia, yet Musa Aman alongside his UMNO/BN comrades are talking about the Federal Government's generosity to Sabah.

The Federal Government should be thanking Sabah, Sarawak,Terengganu and Kelantan for it's generosity in developing Malaysia to what it is today. Musa Aman and his entire bandwagon of infidels in UMNO/BN Sabah should immediately admit themselves into the nearest mental hospital or better yet, dissolve the state legislative assembly.Let us see if they still have the support of the people.
Is Sabah BEGGING for development? It surely appears so.Sabahans have become beggers in their own land.

Hardcore poor in Sabah down by 5,000
Published on: Wednesday, February 11, 2009

Kota Kinabalu: Datuk Seri Musa Haji Aman said the poverty eradication programme in Sabah is moving in the right direction as evidenced in the decreasing number of hardcore poor household heads (KIRMTs) last year compared to 2007.
The Chief Minister said there were 21,514 KIRMTs and disabled people (OKUs) in 2007. However, as at Feb. 10 this year, the number had reduced to 16,403 that include OKUs and those in the advanced age bracket.
"This is certainly a good improvement," he said after chairing the People's Welfare Development Scheme Steering Committee at Wisma Innoprise, Tuesday. Also present were State Secretary Datuk Sukarti Wakiman and State Federal Secretary Datuk Ismail Wadin.
Musa said it was for this reason that the Rural and Regional Development Ministry had given Sabah RM23.2 million this year to conduct programmes on income enhancement, training, excellence, career, human mind development, childcare centre and balanced diet.
Hardcore poor families in Sabah are those with household income of below RM540 a month for those in the rural areas and RM960 for those in the urban areas. The State Government aims to achieve zero poverty by 2010.
He said of the 16,403 KIRMTs, OKUs and senior citizens, the programmes would be targeting 12,580 who are productive. For non-productive OKUs, the group's welfare would be taken care of by the State and Federal governments.
Musa said between 2006 and last year, the Federal Government approved RM27.185m for a total of 4,837 assistance given to 2,006 recipients in the whole State.
"Last year, of the 3,727 applications for assistance that are registered, 1,818 applications have been approved to the cost of RM2.678 million," he said.
The Chief Minister also disclosed that the Sabah Welfare Services Department (JPKA) through all its district welfare officers identified and conducted investigation involving 7,712 families under the KIRMT starting February, last year. From this exercise, they managed to trace 5,122 or 66 per cent of the 7,712 families.
Musa said the JPKA, channelled financial assistance to them under the Old Folks Assistance Scheme and General Assistance Scheme.
Under the Old Folks Assistance Scheme, the recipients received RM300 from the Federal Government while under the General Assistance Scheme, the recipients receive minimum of RM150 and maximum RM300 from the State Government.
"For KIRMT who could not be traced, the JPKA advertised in the local papers so that assistance could be channelled to them," he said.
He said under the Ninth Malaysia Plan (9MP), 15 Mesej programme were being implemented by the Sabah Rubber Industry Board (LIGS) and Sabah Land Development Authority.
According to him, there were seven Mesej aquaculture programme at Kampung Sarap, Pangi, Penimbawan, Pulau Sakar, Nala, Look Butun and Pantau-Pantau involving 536 KIRMT.
Meanwhile, Musa said the State Local Government and Housing Ministry had spent RM6.8m to provide facilities and business premises such as tamu grounds, stalls, arcades, pasar tani and general markets for the benefit of the people.

the reason for Sabah remain as poorest state in Malaysia is due to the area of Sabah which is too big compared to the others states. every districts here are almost equal to the states in SM. that why, Sabah need a lot of times and allocations to be a developed state.

Sabah are among state most backward, however what we know, now Sabah increasingly developed, and maybe someday Sabah will become most develops state in Malaysia.

the long standing issues in Sabah should be addressed first, not only during 10MP but as continuously and focus on the short-term and long-term solutions.

Dear famous "5" commeners, thanks for vsiting; actually it should be RONNIE Klassen who should respond to the comments; I am only the messenger.

But in natural reflex to QAuicksilver's invite to share my thoughts, I had penned something -- quite unfinished -- in response. Bear with me as I now take a "break" while suggesting a "breakaway"!:) OR :(

Sabahan sememangnya perlukan perubahan. Tapi tak bermakna tukar kerajaan adalah penyelesaian terbaik. Jadi bagi saya kerajaan hanya perlu buktikan komitmen mereka utk membuat perubahan yang baik:)

Paquin said...
