Harakah Daily Is Upbeat on Pek Moh's Early Exit...

'Taib the next Wan Mokhtar?'

By Harakahdaily

KUCHING, Apr 15: With barely 24 hours before Sarawakians participate in the state's most intensely fought election, "Will Taib Mahmud become the next Wan Mokhtar Ahmad?" has been a question on everyone's lips.

Wan Mokhtar Ahmad was the long-serving Terengganu Menteri Besar from 1974 till 1999, who suffered a shock defeat to PAS during the 1999 general election, delivering to the Islamic party one of the peninsula's richest states.

So when former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad told the embattled Sarawak chief minister to "learn from history", veteran DAP leader Lim Kit Siang wondered whether the former strongman was referring to Mokhtar.

“Can former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad be proven right when he cryptically advised Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud to 'learn from history' in deciding when to step down, citing the case of 'one MB who insisted he should continue, and lost the whole state'?" asked Lim.

'Putrajaya closed six days'

Saying Taib’s continued stay in office has become the most potent weapon against Barisan Nasional in election tomorrow, Lim (left) said the issue had united Sarawakians from all walks of life, bringing them together on the agreement that Taib's tenure was marked by absence of accountability, transparency and good governance, as well as unanswered allegations on abuses of power and rampant corruption.

In spite of this fact, said Lim, prime minister Najib Razak was helplessly attempting to get Taib to agree on early retirement, an attempt which was foiled following Taib's public declaration that he would stay put for "few more years".

“There is nothing the Prime Minister could do about it. For instance, when Najib 'closed down' Putrajaya for six days and led his entire Cabinet to Sarawak to campaign in the Sarawak state general elections on Sunday, his first message was to assure Sarawakians that a change in the state leadership was imminent.

"But Taib refused to 'play ball' and made it very clear in Najib’s presence the next day that he was not planning any 'imminent' stepping down as Chief Minister, as his time frame is 'in a few years’ time',” said Lim.

Lim described as the ‘greatest political mystery of the century’ a claim by Taib that he had been grooming his successor for 20 years.

On Taib’s sudden timeframe of stepping down in two years, Lim said it would still depend on the outcome of Saturday's polls.

“Clearly, it is still very elastic to Taib as to the timeframe of his stepping down as Sarawak Chief Minister and depending on the outcome of Saturday’s polls, it could still range from two, three to four and even five years!” he chided.

Achievable goal

Like in past general elections, the DAP advisor however preferred to stick to his familiar call for denying the BN its traditional two-thirds majority, saying it was an achievable goal, which would also ensure Taib's exit.

“There is no way Taib could continue as Chief Minister if he loses two-thirds state assembly majority on Saturday as this would impact most adversely on Najib’s political future and in particular for the long-delayed 13th national elections,” he stressed.

Lim called on his comrades to continue the hardwork despite the huge odds stacked against BN, saying that no one would be assured of victory in any seats until the final vote count.

Lim also warned that in the final day of campaigning, the BN "will go all out to 'steal' the 10th Sarawak state general elections with their department of 'dirty tricks' working 24/7".

BN will keep Sarawak by a hair’s breadth, say analysts

April 16, 2011

KUCHING, April 16 — The ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) will retain Sarawak today but will end the race with Pakatan Rakyat (PR) dangerously close at its heels, say analysts.

Their polls projections, which were cautious at first, have now grown significantly optimistic for the opposition force, which is contesting in its first-ever state election under the PR umbrella.

Three analysts told The Malaysian Insider yesterday that BN was likely en route to yet another electoral victory in the hornbill state but the contest for two-thirds majority was too close to call.

Such a prediction would have been laughed off at campaign kick-off last week but consistent reports of massive rally turnouts and talk of rising anger against the state’s powerful Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud have now drawn a question mark over BN’s ability to maintain its near-dominance in the 71-seat state assembly.

When at first even PR leaders admitted their goals would be impossible to achieve, the final day of campaigning yesterday saw Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim declaring that the newborn alliance would far surpass its targets.

“We are very confident we are going to go far beyond that, we are pushing to deny BN its monopoly of the state,” he said during a press conference yesterday afternoon.

According to sources, PR is now betting largely on victory in 34 state seats, with DAP winning in 13 of the 15 seats it is contesting, followed by PKR’s 19 of 49 seats and PAS’s two of five state seats.

PR needs to win in at least 24 state seats to deny BN its customary two-thirds majority, and 36 seats to form a new government in Sarawak.

The pact’s wins are expected to come largely from the urban and semi-urban state seats, particularly in constituencies within the main townships and city and their outskirts.

Analysts were similarly as optimistic over PR’s chances, pointing out that the usually conservative political culture in Sarawak had changed significantly in the past week.

Voters, they said, were now not only more politically aware but were also willing to unreservedly declare their grouses with the ruling administration, an uncharacteristic trait in the past.

Tonight’s outcome, said the analysts, would bank on how successful BN’s use of its entire state and federal government machinery has been in convincing voters to stick to the ruling pact.

When polling opens at 1,749 centres across the state this morning, 979,796 voters will face the crucial decision of whether to “vote for change” or vote for “transformation”, the two messages spread by PR and BN over the 10-day campaign period.

Universiti Malaysia Sarawak lecturer Dr Faisal Syam Hazis, who has been criss-crossing Sarawak to observe the heated campaign, said that over the past 10 days voters across all different communities had shared one major grouse — their disenchantment with Taib or “Pek Moh”.

“The message is very clear. People are echoing the call for change and I can see this even in the Dayak areas.

“Many are really disappointed with the BN... you can sense that sentiment. Promises were made to them to provide water and roads, to give them employment opportunities, but they were only made during elections,” he said.

Faisal said PR’s performance would bank heavily on the protest vote — constituents who were upset with BN but who did not necessarily subscribe to the opposition’s policies.

But the professor said this would not bear any similarity to the protest vote in the tsunami of 2008 as Sarawak’s voter dynamics and political situation were significantly different from those of states in the peninsula.

“The issues are different here so let me put it like this — I think the opposition will win more seats and could deny two-thirds but it is too close to call,” he said.

Faisal also noted that another major factor was the possibility of vote-rigging and election irregularities, which the opposition has predicted would likely occur today.

The pact has already complained of cash handouts allegedly given by BN agents to voters, ranging between RM100 for each voter and up to RM2,000. Villages in the interior areas, they claimed, were even given RM6,000 allocations.

“And look, PR is not only up against BN’s already massive election machinery, it is also up against the entire federal and state government machinery.

“You can observe how this has been constantly used in rural areas; Kemas, the Education Department, the police, all government departments and the deployment of the entire federal and state Cabinet ministers to help in the polls,” he said.

Faisal described this as the “politics of Panadol”, noting that this would likely cost PR many seats.

“This is when although people are unhappy, these instant-noodle projects and handouts will convince them to vote for BN but after the polls, the suffering continues,” he said.

He claimed that if PR and BN had entered the contest on a level-playing field, it was without a doubt that PR could deny BN its two-thirds majority and even have a fighting chance to win the state.

Universiti Putra Malaysia lecturer Professor Jayum Anak Jawan was less optimistic of PR’s chances but agreed with his fellow academic that the pact would perform significantly better than it had in 2006.

In the 2006 polls, the DAP won in only six seats and PKR in one.

Jayum admitted that the opposition force had put up a fierce fight in the polls and had made inroads in many areas, particularly among the urban and semi-urban communities.

“I see quite a lot of people who are excited about the polls, especially around the major towns like in Kuching, Sibu and Miri.

“But the Bidayuh seats and the Malay/Melanaus, are not so easy… although many areas are said to be volatile as their BN candidates are new faces,” he said.

But Jayum predicted that this would not translate into a resounding victory for PR and tonight’s results would bring no surprises.

He explained that many of the local communities like the Malay/Melanau, the Ibans and Bidayuhs were a sentimental and loyal lot and had an emotional attachment to their representatives in government.

“They may be unhappy and complain that their land had been stolen but at crunch time, they will vote for BN. Don’t ask me why, it is baffling to me too,” he said.

Jayum said more was needed to “shake” the Dayaks out from political complacency as they were not likely to “jump ship”.

“On that basis, I am not confident that they will abandon the ruling coalition completely,” he said.

Universiti Teknologi Mara Associate Professor Shaharudin Badaruddin agreed with his comrades, saying that this was by far the most heated state contest he had ever witnessed.

He explained that in the previous two state polls in 2001 and 2006, voters had generally stayed in the comfort of their homes and went about their daily businesses instead of joining in the campaign festivities by attending political events.

The professor expressed awe at the vast changes, describing it as a “strong undercurrent” sweeping the state.

“It is quite remarkable to see how accepting these people are... I have seen lorries driven by Chinese displaying PAS flags.

“I tried snapping pictures of PKR flags on display once and a Bidayuh woman scolded me, warning me against defacing the flags.

“And this is in the rural areas. There is also a protest even from the Malay community... so easily, they can get more than 19 seats, or perhaps, deny BN two-thirds,” he said.

Polling begins at 8am today and ends at 5pm.

The Election Commission expects the final vote tally to be announced by 11pm.

There are 979,796 registered voters in Sarawak, with the Chinese making up the largest community at 31.5 per cent, the Ibans 29 per cent, Malay/Melanaus at 27.5 per cent, Bidayuhs eight per cent, Orang Ulus 3.7 per cent and others 0.26 per cent.

Give it a rest, Haris.

RPK has chosen BN as his new master.

No matter how you want to spin it, RPK is still a turncoat, a traitor to the Rakyat.

All I can do now is to offer my best wish to RPK: His newfound money, freedom and everything that he ever wanted, and I hope he gets to enjoy them elsewhere, not inside Malaysia.

After all he should know what TV3 is capable of.
I know you are very concerned about the intergrity of MCLM,but please him explain himself.
Thanks.

Sarawak polling in progress, DS Anwar Ibrahim has time to comment on "DNA"!

DNA is the acronym for DATUK NAJIB ALTANTUYA if you are knot in the no!:)

Desi was a little privileged to have been able to attend some briefings on BEHIND-THE-SCENES details wrt Altantuya, Sodomy 2 and other BN/UMNO shenanigans like Datuk T stogges-sex maniacs. Of all the people, among the actors was former CM of a certain state where 15-year-old gals don't feel safe at all unless accompanied by their Grandma, not even by parents who can be "turned over" for a few piecs of gold more/aMore!

Here's meanwhile DS Anwar Ibrahim taking a breather from campaigning which stopped at midnight last night -- from Harakah Daily, PAS party organ which is good enough now that PKR's official paper Suara Keadilan remains "banned" by the caring BN government who wants you to remain Ignoramus on weird goings-on...:( -- YL,Desi, knottyaSsusual:)

Anwar ups the ante over Altantuya murder

KUCHING - Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim has urged prime minister Najib Razak to come clean on a number of issues which have been dogging the murder of Mongolian negotiator Altantuya Shariibuu in 2006, and chief among them is who instructed the two Special Action Unit (UTK) members of the police force to commit the crime.

In April 2009, Azilah Hadri, 32, and Sirul Azhar Umar,36, both members of the UTK, were found guilty of the brutal murder and sentenced to death, without a motive being established. A third defendant, Najib's aide Abdul Razak Baginda, who confessed to having an affair with Altantuya, was freed.

Referring to statutory declarations by private investigator P. Balasubramaniam and blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin which urged the police to investigate Najib and his wife's involvement in the crime, Anwar said the question over who had actually authorised Azilah and Sirul to kill Altantuya remained unanswered.

Anwar was responding to renewed interest in the case following Petra's interview with TV3 on Wednesday.

In the interview recorded two months ago, Petra said that while he had doubts about Najib and his wife Rosmah Mansor's direct involvement, he nevertheless still insisted on the authorities to investigate an intelligence report about Rosmah's personal involvement.

The interview's broadcast was followed by statements from Barisan Nasional leaders, claiming the self-exiled blogger now admitted he had been wrong to implicate Najib and Rosmah. Petra, saying he had expected the media's 'twisting' of his interview, however said he had been consistently calling for an investigation into the allegation and denied of any 'u-turn' as claimed.

At the press conference in Kuching, however, Anwar refused to be drawn into the controversy, saying his focus was now the Sarawak state polls.

"I don't want to answer this issue. Today, let us focus fully on the Sarawak election and the Sarawak people's new resolve to make change," he told online portal TV Selangor.

A commenter at People's Parliament rebuts MCLM Prez pretty well

YES, I surfed the Internet late into the still of the Seremban night; I visited harisibrahim.wordpress.com's too -- just to listen from the horse's mouth how he put up his defence of his idol, RPK, also often a partner-in-shenanigans blatantly demonstrated during Zaid Ibrahim's campaign to become Deputy President of Parti Keadilan Rakyat late last year.

I hope the Commenter named Don Ricardo won't mind my copying his well-articulated views in rebutting the People's Parliament and MCLM mover's stance in defending his idol RPK. Yes, de Prez is subservient to de Chairman in MCLM -- furthermore, RPK is from Royalty what!

MCLM made a “press conference” to defend RPK today.

I wish to refute the things that Haris said in the “press conference”:

1. Haris said: “the mainstream media… presented Raja Petra’s interview completely out of context”, “This interview was done in February. RPK just told me that this morning”.

My response — The few long sentences that RPK spoke, even if shown separately, has enough context for us to understand what he meant. We can read. We are not that stupid such that we always won’t “get the context”. What RPK said is out there in black and white, even if it’s the full thing. So who are you trying to fool?

Also, RPK rarely gets interviewed by any major news media. So if he got interviewed by something as big as TV3, why he only told you this morning only?

2. Haris said: “I challenge TV3 to put up the full, unedited video of the interview on YouTube or whatever medium (on the Internet)”.

My response — Knock, knock! Hello Haris! You of all people should know that this is TV3, one of UMNO’s mouthpieces! Challenge to put up full video? Forget it! As if they’re gonna listen to you. It’s too late. It’s also besides the point. The damage is done. The objective has been accomplished.

3. Haris said: “that no one in MCLM was aware that RPK had done the interview, nor could he give a definite answer on the latter’s motives for agreeing to speak with TV3. Haris, however, rubbished talk that Raja Petra, who is also MCLM chairperson, had been “coerced””.

My response — Wow, your best friend left you in the dark about such a big interview with such a big media outlet! Some best friend! You said here that you don’t know what RPK’s motive was. It could be a “mistake” just as it could be RPK doing “BN a favour so BN will do him a favour”. How can you say so confidently say RPK was not “coerced” when you just admitted that you are uncertain about RPK’s motive? Are you taking us for a ride, Haris? We request that you please be honest with us.

4. Haris said: “Haris also brushed aside claims that Raja Petra was paid to do the TV3 interview”.

My response — Haris, how do you know? You just said you don’t know the reason why RPK did the interview. How come you can confidently say RPK was not paid in any way? How would you ever know? I know RPK is your “best friend”, but even best friends can hide things from each other. There is just no way you can confirm that RPK didn’t take a single sen. So can you please stop clutching straws to defend RPK and be more less biased please?

5. Haris said: ““If you listen carefully, Raja Petra said, ‘Saya tidak lagi terima cerita itu, sebab saya rasa mungkin mustahil kut’. He is saying that ‘I do not yet believe this story, because it’s quite incredible’.When you read the Star, they quoted him as saying, ‘I no longer accept the story. I think it’s quite impossible’. The mainstream media has distorted (his statement).”

My response — Hello Haris! There is no distortion there also! That is an exact and accurate translation from BM to BI! What “distortion” are you talking about, Haris? Why does it appear you are so desperate to defend RPK on his behalf?

6. Haris said: “Haris added that the mainstream media had insinuated that Raja Petra drew the information that he put down on his statutory declaration in 2008 from several sources, when in fact it only came from one source – Nik Azmi Nik Daud, a former aide to Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah. Haris said Raja Petra had then contacted blogger Din Merican…”

My response — Haris, why name names in an interview with such a dirty mainstream media? Is RPK trying to detonate Pakatan Rakyat and PKR by doing this? It’s just a TV interview, not a confidential police statement. So why whistleblow your own informer? All this makes us think that RPK is trying to “pretend” that this is all mainstream media “spin” but in reality, RPK very cleverly has achieved his purpose in terms of altering “perception”. He has succeeded in tarnishing Pakatan. He has also forever tarnished his reputation as a “defender of the rakyat”.

7. Haris said: “while there is no denying Raja Petra had been critical of Anwar and the opposition in the TV3 interview, he stressed that it is nothing that the outspoken blogger hasn’t said before.”

My response — Hello, it’s the perception strategy again. Even if he has attacked Anwar Ibrahim so many times before, why must RPK give Barisan Nasional so much ammunition on a gold platter like this to use on such a wonderful television media to be aired left and right, night and day on TV? Something cannot be right.

Also, in my view:

*RPK is like a bull in a china shop, he just goes ramming everywhere, and he uses this tactic to taint Pakatan Rakyat and pretends “that’s just his style”. We don’t by it.

*RPK is a big talker, more of a big talker than a doer for most of the while, and people who talk like a hero are usually suspicious characters who screw us up in the end.

*RPK is no god. He relies on the rakyat’s power so tell him not to fool us around. Who asked him to given an interview to TV3? If he is such a big talker and so damn smart, who asked him to talk to TV3? This is the major mystery and the key to RPK joining the devil’s side.

*We should also listen other people’s views to understand RPK, not just Haris’s views alone. There is a damning Letter To The Editor in Malaysiakini that was just published, which will tell you who RPK really is. Check this out: http://malaysiakini.com/letters/161443.

After reading this Malaysiakini bombshell letter and Haris’s statement about RPK, make up your minds about RPK.

Let us decide for ourselves whether to trust RPK or not.

Also, RPK is no god. I don’t want to have faith in him.

I also don’t want to give my full faith to MCLM.

I will only give my faith to the truth, to justice, to real reform, to real friendship with the rakyat.

If MCLM achieves this, then good. If Pakatan achieves this, then good.

But no one should ask us, the rakyat, to give blind faith to any one.

Haris, you should have just told us “think and use your hearts to decide” rather than ask us to blindly “keep the faith”.

I wish you were more objective and impartial, Haris.

This MCLM wants to be a father figure to the Opposition...

Its President was speaking on April 15, two weeks too late for the best 2011's April Fool's joke!

Just launched less than a year ago, MCLM's self-anointed President Haris Ibrahim says his supra-governing body called Malaysian Civil Liberties Movement, initially flagged off as a Third Force, then a cndiadtes' selection body to the Pakatan Rakyat, then an Auditor of all Parliamentarians, you name its chameleonic forms, dear EsteemedReaders!, now MCLM wants to be a "father" figure to the Opposition parties. Hey Haris, DAP and PAS are in their fifties quite close to your age and Raja Petra's while PKR under Anwar Ibrahim is in its teens of 12 or 13 years, but Anwar has been an activist starting as ABIM chief, then as a politician, for at least four decades!...).

Hey. why don't you go "fly a kite" in the UK or Australia -- join thy Chairmanlah well endowed by some philanthropist's funds -- whose name I won't even deem worth while mentioning in full here because he has fooled enough Malaysians longing for a two-party/coalition system for along time. As I said about six months ago, MCLM's only clear-cut role is to put spanners into the wheel of Pakatan Rakyat now running quite smoothly except for some "Trojan horses" who entered PKR house as guests and tried to burn the house down (Thank the good Lord our God who's smarter than Zaid Ibrahim, John Soh CW and Jeffrey Kitingan and all their cronies combined ..., they did NOT succeed! ~~ Amen).

MCLM sees itself a father figure to Opposition parties

MCLM president Haris Ibrahim said the organisation criticises the Opposition in the hope that it will bring about improvements. — file pic

KUALA LUMPUR, April 15 — Fledgling group Malaysian Civil Liberties Movement (MCLM) justified its criticisms of Opposition parties and its leaders, saying today it was only hoping to see them improve and did not wish to discredit them.

MCLM president Haris Ibrahim stressed they wanted to see Opposition parties improve in the future when commenting on the outrage over the organisation chairman Raja Petra Kamarudin’s criticism of opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim that was broadcast by the pro-government TV3 television station.

“We do this almost like how a father would chastise a child whom he loves because you see something wrong and you set it right.

“If you go through this entire video clip, you will not find once where Raja Petra says Anwar has lost complete credibility. He was critical over efforts by the Opposition to form a shadow Cabinet, as he has said several times before in his blog,” Haris told reporters at the organisation’s headquarters here.

The MCLM was formed last October in London.

Whether spinned or not. It was a pure stupid action by RPK to agree to be interviewed by TV3, when it was this same guy (RPK) that categorised mainstream media's as unethical and spinners. Now it what circumstances did you RPK agree to be interviewed by TV3 and don't tell us here in Malaysia that it is none of our business on who interviews you. Bear in mind RPK you partly survive with money donated/paid by fellow Malaysians that oppose BN and its cronies....and if you had forgotten RPK, TV3 is one of them (cronies of BN).

This must be the joke of the century. RPK and MCLM by association is worse than Mr Anwar Ibrahim. Talk about hypocrisy, lies, deception, arrogance, and ambitions. Your image and reputation now is so tarnished one sees u as no more than a pile of cow crap. Stinking and yucky and totally undesired. At least AI did not betrayed anyone or any principle.

Be careful of MCLM. Two turncoats , RPK and Zaid, are prominient members of this organisation. Please folks read between the lines. The MCLM is a TROJAN HORSE which will destroy the opposition. Like a Trojan virus which infects the computer, the MCLM has been planted by "you know who", to destroy the opposition.

Whatever MCLM says here in mitigation is inconsequential.Harm has already been done to opposition efforts and a big boost given to the BN.A lot of questions are in readers' minds like why your chairman chose this timing to make his "revelations" and the use of mainstream media knowing very well they will twist, turn and spin every word he says.Do you really think readers will believe you or the opposition will accept such a two timing father ?

Harris, since when did the MCLM become the "father" figure for the Opposition parties in Malaysia? Most of these parties were formed well before MCLM. A father does not chastise his children in public when he is fully aware that his comments or actions would be distorted. RPK's interview with TV3 was the height of stupidity. Since when did the mainstream media become the friend of civil society? If RPK has a bone to pick with Anwar do it elsewhere and some other time. If he wants to cut a deal with Najib and return home, so be it. But RPK should not try to make fools of the rest of us. He is not that smart.

With people like Haris Ibrahim heading MCLM, who needs enemies?

DESIDERATA:
Yes, dear MENJ -- I had also written an article last October I reprised two days ago titled: "With friends like RPK and Haris Ibrahim, PKR doesn't need enemies"!

I give RPK not an iota of benefit of doubt...II

Desi cuntinues with a tinge of sadness with arguments I started in the preceding post to demonstrate how Raja Petra had indeed changed, and "souled" out to the dark side. It was some time last year that I saw the change in this royal blogger with whom I stood side by side proudly at BUM2007 and BUM2008 which highlighted his standing as the keynote speaker. When I said "with sadness", Desi realises that often, at the end of the day, his case demonstrates the dictum holds true that THERE IS A PRICE ON EVERYONE'S HEAD.

I now reproduce the Star's page N4 report headed
RPK: Anwar lost his credibility

and will attempt a rebuttal para by para (as I once did to a white woman resident in Malaysia carrying Petronas' balls -- for a few golden pieces of gold, Yes?), with the highlighted sections THUS BOLDED and IN ITALICS, marking my points of rebuttal.

RPK: Anwar has lost his credibility

Reports by SIRA HABIBU, RUBEN SARIO, JOSHUA FOONG, IAN MCINTYRE, P. ARUNA and CALVIN YEO

PETALING JAYA: Blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin claimed Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim lost his credibility as the Opposition leader when he failed to fulfil the promise that the Opposition pact would form the government on Sept 16, 2008.

DESI: SO JUST ON ONE MAJOR FAILURE TO DELIVER "916" WOULD EQUATE THE OPPOSITION LEADER HAVING LOST ALL CREDIBILITY? RPK, how many battle have you fought in one's life and didn't win all and yet you refused to give up? -- that trait should be a desideratumOFleadership and also must apply to any potential great leader, including Anwar Ibrahim, the attitude of fighting and not surrendering just because of one major setback!

Raja Petra, who said Anwar was once his close friend, added that he too was deceived by the PKR adviser's false promises when he (Raja Petra) was detained under the Internal Security Act.

DESI: How did Anwar deceive you? You went in under the ISA because the BN government/Home Minister had to sign the detention order, NO? Not Anwar,YES?

“Anwar came to the court because there were two cases going on simultaneously and told me don't worry, you will be out soon because we are going to form the government on Sept 16',” he said in the second part of an interview with TV3 aired last night.

DESI: Yes, Anwar might have given him hope of taking over the federal government, as with most opposition leaders, they were motivated by "hope for change and victory " What dashed Anwar's, and many PR followers' hopes, were the money-lured Taiwan study trip for some 40 members of parliament from the BN component aparties, RPK, don't you remember? And you yourself must know the "power of the almighty dollar, no?"

Raja Petra alleged that unfulfilled promises, internal bickering in Pakatan Rakyat and Anwar's personal issues were enough for the people to re-evaluate Anwar's capability to lead the Opposition pack.

DESI: For the past three years, the PR as a young coalition had indeed seen factional fights, but isn't that part and parcel of growing up of an infant coalition, acknowledgabley with some seemingly opposing policies. Anwar's leadership was not in question by the three components, DAP, PAS and PKR, leaders and general leadership, so RPK, WHO ART THOU (and MCLM PRESIDENT HARIS IBRAHIM TOO) to pronouce final judgement?

He claimed that many had told him that they were disillusioned with Anwar and had lost all confidence in him.

DESI: Yes, that many were reporting to you as a mandated SUPRA-GOVERNING BODY CHIEF eh?
And they include MPs like Zulkifly Noordin, Zahrain (?)..., Wee Choo Keong, Tan Tee Beng, et al, whom we all know are like you, turn coats for a high price, Yes?!

“The moment someone criticises the leadership, action is taken against them,” Raja Petra added.

Desi: Really, like sacking recalcitrants Zaid Ibrahim and Zulkifly Noordin? They should have been put to pasture a long time ago -- it's just that PKR and defactoleader Anwar couldnot afford to fight battles on so many fronts. So you don''t deem Zaid, Jeffrey Kitingan as possible BN Trojan horses, RPK? Well, you and Haris Ibrahim have been acting, and still act, in cahoots with these two ex-PKR leaders, so I don't need to educate you.

He added that sometimes there were misunderstandings between PAS, DAP and PKR in the running of Selangor, resulting in contradictions among one another pertaining to policies.

“Anwar kept quiet while the people below him were fighting. This is not good leadership. A leader knows how to control his soldiers,” Raja Petra said.

DESI: As I said earlier, every coalition will have grounds of contention and factional rivalries. It's the MSM who embellished and exaggerated on the PR's diffeences that sometimes became public -- like Ali Hassan's differing stand from PAS leadership on the alcohol issue that RPK referred to. It's just that the MSM, including TV3 and NST, The Star and the great Utusan -- great as in a moniker "great RPK" ascribed by an online editor, remember? -- remain silent on UMNO, MCA and MIC internal fights, but like RPKR in the past one year, go to town with special commentaries by Awang Selamat and Wong Chun Wai and Joceline Tan, ad nauseum...

In the first part of the interview on Wednesday, Raja Petra said he believed that the order for him to write the statutory declaration (SD) implicating the Prime Minister and his wife in the murder of Mongolian Altantuya Shaariibuu in 2008 came from Anwar.

In his latest blog posting yesterday, Raja Petra said he had never implicated Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor in Altantuya's murder, even in the SD.

DESI: RPK, you must be so naive to think the MSM won't do a "spin" on your SD to the Barisan Nasionaladvantage-- why art thou complaining about the MS spinning? Were you born just Yesterday?

You may deny all you like, BUT IT'S THE PERCEPTION you create in your columns -- repeating with daming headlines about Rosmah's presence at the scene of the crime -- now you exonerate them with your latest TV3 interview, that was how the NSTY spun it, so are we surprised?

“Sometimes, we need a storm to get people's attention. Maybe now the police will do what I have been asking them to do in the last three years investigate my SD and ascertain the truth behind what Lt Kol Azmi Zainal Abidin alleged,” he said.

Lt Kol Azmi was a military intelligence officer who Raja Petra claimed was among those who gave him information on the murder.

DESI: You not only created a storm -- you spilled the beans onmany "informants" like what you did to me (and the Malaysian Chronicle) alleging that we received "Offical Secrets" documents which we dared not publish and pass on to you to do the task. I called you "a liar and a coward" but you maintain elegant silence. You learn very well from some past and present UMNO leaders, that I can credit you for. From the commenters at your website running into hundreds now trricking into just single or double digits, your malaysia-today.net readers have seen through the Emperor's new clothes.

DESIDERATA's added comments:

As I said in an eralier article questioning RPK's and Haris' mandate in MCLM to select candidate for PR parties, I again pose this question:

Who appointed you as Parliament auditor or monitor (I used the term "SUPRA-GOVERNING BODY") that you gave a damning report card on Opposition Leader suggesting that he's not fir to head the three-member coalition; hence, also Anwar is not fit to head the Federal Government should the PR succeed in taking over Putrajaya cometh the 13GE?

If the current Sarawak state elections have been "impacted" (negatively on PR, that is...) by your TV3 and MSM spin arising from your Australian holiday interview, I think it's alright, WE LIVE TO FIGHT THE NEXT GENERAL ELECTIONS, and for your own good, please continue your high living in London, Sydney or Timbucktree. Someone has got very deep pockets to finance MCLM.

I also wrote about the Malaysian Civil Liberties Movement as the Third Force or Third Farce, with my maintaining the stance it would just act as "spoliers" in the GE13 by fielding socalled "independent" candidates, you failed to defend my query, also the same opinion expressed by many readers at MT and other websites. Is MCLM the privileged special vehicle for you and Haris to enjoy a high life of travel and living, cheered on by olde faithfuls like Zorro, Hawkeye, Shanghai fish,et al, and other diehard members with no criticalminds of their own who enjoy the kacangputih you throw at them? You stated noble role of picking "20 to 30 men of integrity" to stand under PKR or DAP banner, yet you lambast Anwaras an "unfit" Opposition Leader just based on three years' record. Think about this -- the DAP, PAS and PKR leaders themselves maintain their support through Anwar's rise and fall and trials and tribulations through Sodomy 2, Datuk T ex video and other time-consuming distractions cooked up by UMNO, but you the great RPK thinks otherwise.

"In closing with a prayer, may God protect Desi from such self-egoistic supra Homo sapiens like you and Haris and other MCLMers so that I may not fall victim to RPK's shenanigans by crossing his path again! -- Amen

I give RPK not an iota of benefit of doubt...

DESI BELIEVES THIS ONCE-ESTEEMED FIGHTER HAD INDEED "SOULED" OUT TO THE DARK SIDE, after watching the second part of his interview with TV3 broadcast at prime time last night over Buletin Utama.

I specially stayed home to watch the segment -- the body language and his words with strong emphasis on running down DS Anwar Ibrahim relating to his role as Opposition Leader and heading the "infant" (three years qualify this description NO? as compared with parties in their 50s like UMNO, MCA and MIC...?) Pakatan Rakyat aiming to form the alternative federal government cometh the 13th General Elections.

I shall return to enhance my arguments after reading the NST and The Star's reports -- RPK had written a post alleging that the TV3 and MSM were guilty of "spinning". But hey, RPK, you were NOT BORN YESTERDAY! You have been consistently attacking PR, especially Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and de facto leader Anwar the past 12 months. It was this "change" which led to my first article asking my readers here last year -- "WHY IS RPK ACTING SO OUT OF CHARACTER?" (bear with me, I will reproduce the article for your benefit if you have not archived it, you lazy BUMmers!:( OR :) ~~ Desi

As they say in TV, STAY TUNED... (as Desi has to go back to 42 winks. I had forty winks the day before Yesterday, and 41 winks YESTERDAY -- when all our troubles (especially PR in Sarawak!) seemed so far away. UNTIL RPK AND TV3 APPEARED ON THE SCENE TO SPOIL OUR (read the RAKYAT's) PARTY!

Oky, within five minutes before I hit the hay (it's now @4.19AM), here cometh the article wit' Desi THINKING ALLOWED featured at the Malaysian Chronicle that started the "FACE-OFF WITH RPK" that won me three stretches of 15-minutes-of-fame, but RPK became the "MSM Flavour of the Month" for several months last year, and will contnue into this year, especially if the PM calls early for the 13GE... which he would not -- the coward he is like RPK -- if PR taketh over Sarawak cometh April 16, 2011, which has been my prayer every night(include the day!) the past week! Why is RPK acting so out of character?
YL Chong

Prominent blogger now in exile in the United Kingdom Raja Petra Kamarudin (RPK) caught this writer by surprise with an overly critical reaction to Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah's failure to obtain at least two nominations to contest the party's deputy presidency. My commentary here is not to go into the "technicalities" involved in the nominations process, but to focus on RPK's uncharacteristic reactions for someone sympathetic to the only viable alternative coalition led by PKR to replace the BN government.

RPK titled his latest "No Holds Barred" column yesterday (Oct 13, 2010) "Umno is beginning to look better than PKR" and his scornful look at the current PKR party elections in progress seems totally out of character with the writer that I know.(Digressing a bit but I feel perinent in my claim that I know this writer at close range, Raja Petra was the key speaker for the first two annual outings called Bloggers Universe Malaysia (BUM) which I was proud to serve as organising chair.)

And knowing that Nurul herself has never stated she would want to contest the second highest post in PKR, why would an Opposition fighter, swing so ballistically into putting long nemesis UMNO in such good light, as compared with 12-year-old Parti Keadilan Rakyat?

And the real rat is ...

Reacting to a FMT report stating that Nurul did not qualify to contest the deputy president's post after getting only "one nomination" at the close of nominations on Sunday, RPK wrote, and I quote at length:

"And when did they decide that Sunday is the closing date for nominations? Was this decided the following day, on Monday, after two more nominations for Nurul Izzah came in? In other words did they decide on the Sunday closing date on Monday when they realised that Nurul had received an additional two nominations and that this would therefore qualify her to contest the party deputy presidency?

"I smell a rat here, a dead rat. And the smell stinks to high heaven. It appears like PKR is even dirtier than Umno. Now, even Umno is looking better than PKR," he added.

But sad to say, the smell may be emanating from RPK himself. If he did his checks before making such serious allegations, a quick look at any of numerous articles on the PKR direct elections by Malaysiakini would invariably have shown this chart*** (dear ER, please check the ori at MC; my copying not up to par lah as I hail from Jurassick Park...~~ YL Chong:(OR :), which I first noticed in an article dated Sept 5.

October 10 was very clearly defined as the date for which nominations for Supreme Council would be closed. If there are any doubts about the authenticity of chart, do check with Steven of Mkini.

mGf KimQ reminds of the ALTANTUYA ghost!

The unending haunt of Altantuya

By Kim Quek

Raja Petra Kamarudin’s interview by TV3 last night is undoubtedly a piece of political propaganda aimed at cleansing Prime Minister Najib Razak’s taint with the Altantuya murder case ahead of the Sarawak elections two days from now.

Raja Petra’s interview was centered on an affidavit he signed on 18the June 2008, in which he claimed he was reliably informed by his informer that Najib’s wife Rosmah Mansor was at the scene of the crime, witnessing the blasting of Altantuya’s body. Raja Petra now claims that he no longer believes what he believed then.

Let us be very clear on this issue at the very outset. The veracity or otherwise of that affidavit as well as whatever belief or disbelief Raja Petra may have over the Altantuya case does not add or subtract one bit to the dark clouds that have persisted to hound Najib over this murder case.

FAILURE OF INSTITUTIONS

Such negative perceptions of Najib do not arise from so-and-so says this or that. Rather, they have accumulated over Najib’s own failure to conduct himself appropriately as well as the overtly protective shield provided by our law-enforcing institutions to keep Najib out of bound to due legal process – to the point of dereliction of duty, bordering on criminal collusion. It is these flagrant institutional failures as well Najib’s clumsily evasive conduct that has deepened public suspicion of his involvement.

These instances are too many to enumerate, but we will mention a few to refresh public memory.

Starting with the police, there is no reason whatsoever why the police should have left Najib and his aide-de-camp Musa Safri out of its loop of investigation, when all the three accused were closely linked to Najib and it was Musa who instructed the first two accused to tackle Altantuya.

Police failure was even more glaring when it failed to act on private investigator P. Subramaniam’s all three affidavits and video interview by three senior lawyers. The information provided by Bala in these documents not only incriminated Najib (in first affidavit), but also accused Rosmah and Najib’s brother Nazim of forcing Bala and his family to flee the country with bribe and threats (recorded in video interview and submitted via the third affidavit). The third affidavit was in reply to Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) written questions, and submitted in July 2010. There has been no response from MACC, despite written reminders by Bala’s lawyer.

What possible reason is there for the police and MACC to remain silent over these serious accusations, backed by factual details, against the Prime Minister and his family? If Najib and family is innocent, wouldn’t these law enforcing bodies have sprung to action in the first instance to clear the PM and family of such horrible stigma?

BIZARRE IRREGULARITIES

The scenario in the court is even more bizarre. Revealing and critical evidence exposed in court was quickly smothered, instead of being pursued in the cause of truth and justice. The extra-ordinary part is that the attempt to bury these new evidences was not engendered by one or two parties but by all the three parties acting in concert – prosecutor, defence and judge.

These evidences included the erasure of immigration record of Altantuya and her Mongolian companions, and an alleged photograph of Najib, Altantuya and the third accused having a meal in a restaurant. The former evidence would have yielded important lead to some high power involvement in the case, while the latter would have nailed Najib (if proven) who had repeatedly sworn that he had never known nor met Altantuya.

This grotesque phenomenon of confluence of interest of all the judicial players to suppress new evidence can have only one explanation - Najib must be kept out of this case.

That justice might not have been fully served through the sentencing of the first two accused to death should be obvious, when the court never bothered to probe into the motive of executing the girl – and in such cruel fashion. It is not difficult to fathom why motive of murder was never mentioned in court. The simple answer is: there is none.

The two convicted killers, who were bodyguards to Najib, and trained to execute order rigidly without question, had no motive on their own to kill someone they had never met. And since the third accused, who was accused of instigating the killing, was set free due to lack of evidence, then the remaining question must be: who ordered the killing? Is it conceivable that the bodyguards had killed without order and without motive? Isn't it to logical to duduce that the mastermind and real culprit may still be lurching somewhere beyong the realm of the court?

It is clear that major questions and swirling doubts over the handling of the case are still unresolved. Until these are satisfactorily answered through a just court and an honourable police force, which can only be brought into existence through a complete change of political leadership, it is naïve to hope for the return of justice to the Altantuya family and the nation. And until such time, Premier Najib Razak cannot expect to be free from the haunt of Altantuya’s murder.

RPK's backside exposed with his expose on Anwar, et al on TV3 lust night!

Desi would just reproduce ONE PARA from The Star's report of
Thursday April 14, 2011 titled
RPK: I don’t believe PM’s wife was at Altantuya's murder scene

____________________________ Beginning of extract:

“I no longer accept the story. I think it's quite impossible. It can't be that the Prime Minister's wife would want to go to such a place; it's a jungle. I'm imagining, climbing up the hill, going into the jungle at night, at midnight, I think it's quite impossible,” he said in an exclusive interview with TV3 Group Editor Datuk Ashraf Abdullah in Perth, Australia, recently.

____________________________________________ Ends extract

DESIDERATA: I had once called RPK a "a liar and a coward" for concocting stories against me and refusing to retract them plus make an open apology in his malaysia-today.net blog, but he chooses to hyde away in London maintaining elegant silence with regard to my challenge, continues to lead high flying lifestyle via his MCLM funder/s (RM20million fallen from the UK sky izzit?) with a local Malaysian cohort named Haris Ibrahim, followed by a band of worshippers including a Zollo aka Dr Quack.

The extract from The STar report on page 2 today -- which was based on
interview aired through TV3's prime time news Buletin Utama last night -- shows that this blogger-in-exile believes all Malaysians were born only yesterday. Hey, we are NOT ALL STILL AT KINDERGARTEN!

He had written many posts at m2day along the same line close to what the Star also reported -- "Raja Petra said in the SD he made on June 18, 2008, he had stated that he received information from several individuals claiming that Rosmah was at the scene where Altantuya was murdered."

So some three years later, some light suddenly dawned on this famous, to his diehard supporters like Zollo-lah! (to Desi, it's NOTORIOUS!) blogger, and now, RPK, you suddenly GOSTAN-ed on your belief, izzit?!

As far as I am concerned, the Emperor's NEW Clothes were seen through since last year when I started to "discern" the mind games RPK was playing with some of us trained in journalism with a sens of newshound analysis and fair play. Let me just reprise on of these articles, first carried by Malaysian Chronicle:

(Bear with Desi while I knock off at 2.22pm while he hunts down the article, meanwhile, ENJOY the next item on Desi's menu, minus RPK's vile, also the poison from Zollo, Hawkeye, ShanghaiFish and that fishy MCLM President HarisIb! I wish all these worms would go DIG A HOLE, STAY THERE TO ENJOY MASSAGING EACH OTHER'S EGOS AS THEY PULL WOOL OVER DIEHARD RPK's FANS INCLUDING WAN "ANGELA OOI"-- FOR A FEW PIECES OF SILVER MORE.Amore, Oliver! -- Desi)

OK, belatedly reprised:

With friends like RPK, Haris Ibrahim, PKR doesn't need enemies

Sunday, 12 December 2010

YL Chong, Malaysia Chronicle

I recently wrote an article thinking aloud why Raja Petra Kamarudin (RPK) the blogger now-in-exile in Britain has been writing some articles highly critical of Parti Keadilan Rakyat, especially regarding its de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, but I tempered my concern with giving benefit of the doubt to the blogger now resident abroad that he might have been misinformed or disinformed by his cronies back home including civil rights lawyer-cum-blogger Haris Ibrahim.

My main criticism was that RPK had always written promoting Reformasi from 1998, marked by his outstanding role of director of FreeAnwarCampaign (FAC), and generally working in concert with opposition parties and non-governmental organisations(NGOs) towards change in government at the federal level. But recent writings had given rise to concern he was giving lots of ammunition to the ruling BN regime, especialy UMNO, to attack the Pakatan Rakyat. And today's New Sunday Times proves again my point -- its page 9 report shows that following the departure of former PKR deputy presidential candidate Zaid Ibrahim, RPK has become the "flavour of the month" of the MSM.

In fact, most Malaysians long to see the birth of a two-party/coalition system in this country -- surely a central message sent by the March 8, 2008 General Elections (GE12)? My contention is that PR consisting of PKR, DAP and PAS, now form the only viable alternative coalition able to topple the BN government in Putrajaya, and hence must be given a chance to prove themselves. I add that any third force, however well-intentioned, would only become a new impediment to PR's march on Putrajaya.

I have mentioned Haris in tandem with RPK because their efforts in moving civil society often are inter-connected in timing, and objectives, but whether by design or in revision of stands, the duo are caught flat footed in their contradictions when promoting their preferred candidate to take over PKR Zaid Ibrahim, and curently The Third Force in Malaysian politics.

I clearly recall that RPK, in elaborating on the third force, had stressed that it's NEVER meant to field any canidates in the forthcoming general elections, especially the GE13. Using the public-listed companies as an analogy, he said the third force would act like an auditor, to check the listed company's accounts and watch out for discrepancies, or waywardness by its directors and management chiefs. One point I would ask: The listed companies always appoint their own auditors who are qualified for this role, but whose mandate are this third force using to self-appoint themselves as auditors to the three components of the PR?

In fact, in my earlier article I had quoted Haris as saying the third force -- now birthing as Malaysian Civil Liberties Movement (MCLM) in London -- had identified some 30 men/women of integrity to stand as candidates in GE13, and some 20 had agreed to stand, and they would want DAP and PKR to allow these candiadtes to stand under their party banner, according to a Star report dated Nov 17, 2010. I had questioned why would these well established parties with their own selection criteria privatise such an important role to outside parties. This stance was also restated by leaders like PKR strategy director Tian Chua besides Dr Syed Husin.

This Third Force is neither third nor force, according to just retired PKR deputy president Dr Syed Husin Ali. In fact he sarcastically shared at a mew conference in conjunction with recent party Congress a "revealing" episode, relating that preceding the March 2008 elections, a representation was made to him to allow a Third Force candidate to stand under PKR banner. Syed Husin knew of this "guy" candidate quite well, so he told off the backers that they should have done a thorough background check and would have found that their nominee was a regular pub-goer who often ended up drunk.

Let me now reproduce the NST report dated December 12, 2010 in full, and I reiterate that the headline itself again proved my point that RPK is providing grist to the MSM to attack PKR and PR frontally, with banner headlines likely to be used by the UMNO campaigners cometh GE13.

'Some PR reps not fit to walk a dog'

2010/12/12

KUALA LUMPUR: Raja Petra Kamaruddin has reiterated his disappointment at what he views as the lack of commitment to reforms by Pakatan Rakyat.

After virtually reprimanding his most recognisable political ally Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at a London political forum on Oct 2 for not honouring campaign promises, the fugitive blogger wrote in his latest blog posting: "But what is Pakatan Rakyat's excuse? Pakatan Rakyat talks about reforms. But what reforms are they themselves introducing?

"They demand that Barisan Nasional reform. Should not Pakatan Rakyat demonstrate what it means by reforms by first of all reforming itself?

"In a nutshell, this is what I mean when I say that the Malaysian Civil Liberties Movement (MCLM) seeks to reform the political environment of Malaysia. Note that our target to push for reforms is not just Barisan Nasional but also Pakatan Rakyat.

"And I will continuously write about how things are done elsewhere and ask why we can't also do the same in Malaysia.

"And I will not accept the argument that we can't also do that because our skin is black, brown, cocoa or yellow and not white.

"It is not the external colour of our skin that determines advancement. It is our brain and how we utilise it that will."

At the Oct 2 Friends of Pakatan Rakyat Forum in London with Anwar, and now Parti Keadilan Rakyat vice-president Tian Chua, Raja Petra launched an attack on Pakatan's failure to implement "not a single one of the reform agenda contained in the People's Declaration".

He said this was an improved version of the Agenda of Change authored by Anwar in 1998.

According to Raja Petra, the People's Declaration was drawn up by what he termed as the civil society movement and was adopted by Pakatan parties as their manifesto for the March 2008 general election.

Three other non-Pakatan parties, too, embraced the People's Declaration, Raja Petra said.

He argued that the move and the spirited efforts of activists and bloggers like him had helped Pakatan gain seats. And now some 21/2 years after the election, not a single one of the reforms had been implemented.

As seen from the video recording of the event, Anwar had smiled approvingly when Raja Petra started addressing the forum but no longer smiled as the speech wore on.

Raja Petra offered not himself, but credible personalities from the civil society movement to be fielded as Pakatan candidates in the next general election.

As for some of the candidates fielded by Pakatan in 2008, Raja Petra, quoting his wife had said, "some of them, I can't even trust to walk my dog".

Raja Petra described them as an embarrassment.

(NST report ends here)

RPK asked in a reaction article to my piece titled "Why RPK is acting out (of character)" asked "Have I really changed?", and in a partial reply, I just said we all as individuals "grow up" with passing years, and that only the person himself or herself (including this writer!) would be able to answer truthfully if he/she has changed characterwise or with respect to the causes he/she once championed. But today, a month later, I conclude that RPK, your struggle has indeed changed direction, and you are treating PKR, and Anwar, as the enemy bigger than BN-UMNO. WHY?

So today when I opened up the New Straits Times, I wasn't surprised by the page 9 lead item headline; totally in character with his previous Oct 13's header: "Umno is Beginning to Look Better Than PKR"

So Pakatan Rakyat be forewarned that you would have to "review" your election strategies with the probable entry of MCLM or Third Force candidates, however you call them, now or revised because the promoters don't seem to know their directions and mandate. Maybe they will be strengthened by their well-linked ally Zaid Ibrahim -- in the next general elections?

The Rakyat/electorate must stay focused and united in rejecting a third, or fourth or fifth force; by contesting, they will only become "spoilers", siphoning off votes from the PR, hence benefiting the BN. Foremost on our mind must be to question where these sudden new forces get their monies from? Whose agenda are they really fighting for?

Who are you to act like a SUPRA-GOVERNMENT BODY just because you have drawn up a People's Declaration via the People's Parliament via harisibrahim.com? Can an elite group meeting outside the country -- be it in London, Paris or Timbuktu, I care not -- totally a crowd of some 50 to 100 Malaysians carry the Malaysian fight for "A better Malaysia"? If you remain a cyber-voice writing pieces of concern for the homeland, I can live with that. But shortlisting candidates of impeccable character, playing a demi-god role? No, a BIG resounding No!

I end with a recollection of my criticism when it was made known that more than a decade ago, MCA leader Ng Yen Yen was a permanent resident of Australia when she was made a Senator. My stand then was,and still is, that I hold nothing against Malaysians having PR overseas, but I am firm that Yen Yen should NOT remain a Senator and continue to play active role in the country's politics as her loyalties were/are split. In fact, in passing, I too wrote a letter to the PM's Department too objecting to an Aussie PR being appointed as Editor-in-Chief of the Star, more or less on the same principle that one must not have any "conflict-of-interest" situation that often arises with high profile posts.

I too wish that Malaysians abroad who wish to play any significant role such as taking part in the country's elections by initiating or becoming Third Force candidates, or serving as a Cabinet minister, to return home to fight the battles. And help sincerely PR and the people's efforts to win the war for Putrajaya.

Why launch an MCLM in London, and announcing candidates to shove down the PR component parties throats? Maybe the BN regime under Najib Tun Razak will be more accomodating absorbing them -- hence the direct Barisan Nasional membership?

The UMNO leaders seem suddenly to become reform-minded, and so willing to co-opt Taiwan-returned graduate-rapper "Namewee" aka Wee Meng Chee -- why not also co-opt the 20 men of integrity nominated by Haris Ibrahim? I wonder if indeed we are seeing the emergence of The Third Force or The Third Farce?

AND NOW WITH APPRECIATION I carry the comment which just came in in the middle of the night/morn 24 from a commenter calling himself/herself "malayVoice":-

malayVoice has left a new comment on your post "The Third Force -- Or Is It The Third Farce?":

"Raja Petra Kamuruddin

To begin, Your Slogan to your blog “Source of Independent News” is but a laugh!!!! For your blog swears by The Most Lob-side news that is merely to promote you and your one-track mind

In response to your claim that you did not accused and implicate Dato Najib and Rosmah with the killing of Altantuya;

RPK, once and for all stop being a fake, you have been a phony all your life. You cannot be counted with the rest of your Malaysian, so you had to seek an attention seeking way out – write rubbish to get into the news."

From your days at VI you have been troublesome. It was your father’s influence that saw to your admission at VI never on merit. Then when you became a misfit among the brighter students, you turned into a frenzied attention-seeking maniac. And you ran into trouble at every nook and corner at school.

As an adult, your failure in life, again saw you turn into the same attention-seeking maniac. You began to hide behind the skirt of your wife to strike out al all others.

Everyone was wrong in your eyes except the failed megalomaniac in you. The history of Malaysian was wrong, Independence of Malaysia was wrong, May 13th accounts was wrong, Tun Dr Mahathir was wrong, Abdullah Badawi was wrong and then, Dato Najib is wrong, only Raha Retra is the righ one.

After having dragged Najib and Rosmah through the dirt now you come up that you never collaborated or character assinated by publishing degradotory article and printed false photographs of the PM.

So you are not merely a fake and a bluff but a traitor! - A traitor is one who would abandon and ditch his sons and daughters and run away to safety to save his own neck. One who runs not wanting to fight another day but to criticize from afar! One who saves his soul to live in comfort when financed my some greedy jealous zealot.

You read the latest in The Star -- timed for the Sarawak Elections eh?--then make an objective assessment whether this blogger-in-exile can be relied on anymore to do battle for Malaysians by hiding overseas the past few years in the comfort of high living and on funding whose sources are speculatve.

I missed the socalled exclusive interview on TV3 but I guess the Star's report can be used in such a high-profile case.I may enage this RPK again after a recent FACE-OFF with the last message to him calling him a "liar and a coward". Maybe his latest shenanigans will earn him higher titles.

RPK: I don't believe Najib, Rosmah involved in Altantuya murder

Malaysia Today founder and editor Raja Petra Kamaruddin says he was not responsible for accusations linking Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor to the murder of Altantuya Shaariibuu. He said he himself doubted the accusations when he made a statutory declaration in 2008, in which he stated he had received information from several individuals close to PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

My friends, both in government and the private sector, smsed and telephoned this evening to inform me of the Raja Petra’s exclusive interview with TV3(as reported below by The Malaysian Insider). I also received a call from Ms. Sira, a journalist from The Star, who had the courtesy to call me a few minutes ago.

I was surprised to learn that I have been linked to attempts to discredit Prime Minister Najib and his wife Rosmah with regard to the Altantuya case. There is no basis whatsoever in fact. I am personally disappointed that Raja Petra Kamaruddin should see it fit to get me involved in a matter where I have zero knowledge.

Like many bloggers, I was unhappy with the Badawi Administration. After Badawi’s resignation in 2009 and Prime Minister Najib succeed him, I quietly left Parti KeADILan Rakyat. I know PKR Leaders personally. I also know UMNO-BN Leaders. My links with both sides of the political divide allow me to deal with issues in a dispassionate manner.

I have no disagreements with Prime Minister Najib. Let me state that I am not anti-Najib; in fact, a number of commentators in my blog have severely criticised me for being “soft” on our Prime Minister and his policies.

BUT it is a fact that Raja Petra called me to seek confirmation from Anwar Ibrahim regarding the reliability of a certain military intelligence officer. When I received confirmation from the PKR de facto leader, I relayed it to Raja Petra. That was all to the whole matter.–Din Merican

RPK on TV3 , explains his Altantuya Stories

KUALA LUMPUR, April 13 – The pro-government TV3 station aired an exclusive interview with blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin tonight, where he claimed that he was merely writing accusations made by others against Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his wife over the Altantuya murder case.

“I never accused the Prime Minister or his wife of being involved in the murder of Altantuya Sharibuu,” Raja Petrawas quoted as saying in a transcript made available at the private television station’s website.

The interview in Perth recently was conducted by a senior editor, Ashraf Abdullah, and aired over the prime-time Buletin Utama news programme at 8pm.

The transcript said the Malaysia Today news portal editor said he was pressured and influenced to carry the news by individuals who did not want Najib to take over as the country’s prime minister. Najib succeeded Tun Abdullah Badawi as prime minister in April 2009.

It reported Raja Petra as saying his statutory declaration dated June 18, 2008 was based on information from these individuals, adding that a lot of people accused him of slander without actually reading his sworn statement.

In the statutory declaration (SD), Raja Petra said he received information from several individuals that the prime minister’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor was at the site when Altantuya was killed.

Altantuya was killed in late 2007 when Najib was then deputy prime minister.“In the SD, I related the tale that these people told me the story and they should relate it. And that the authorities should investigate and call these people in. That’s what I wrote in the SD. I personally did not make an accusation. I did not say I knew that the wife of the then deputy prime minister was at the crime scene. I didn’t say that. I didn’t make such an accusation. What I said was that people told the story and it was up to the authorities to investigate it further and for these people to come forward. And I named these people. I revealed this during the police investigations,” he was quoted as saying in the transcript in Bahasa Malaysia.

According to the transcript, Raja Petra said he received the information from individuals linked to several politicians including opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. TV3 named them as Nik Azmi Nik Daud, John Pang and blogger Din Merican.

Raja Petra also mentioned that a military intelligence officer identified as Leftenan Kolonel Azmi Zainal Abidin also gave the same information.

“I didn’t accept the story. Because I thought it was impossible. No way that the Prime Minister’s wife can go to the scene as it is in the jungle and I didn’t think she would climb a hill, enter a jungle in the middle of night, at 12 midnight. I thought that was impossible,” he was quoted as saying in the transcript.

Raja Petra was quoted as saying that their task was to ensure Najib did not take over as PM when Abdullah stepped down.He said when he met Nik Azmi, he had asked the reasons for making the statutory declaration.

“What do you hope to achieve? He said Pak Lah will resign, if we don’t block Najib, Najib will be the prime minister, replacing Pak Lah,” he added.

According Raja Petra, he then asked Din Merican to get confirmation from Anwar.“Din Merican contacted me back and said he spoke to Anwar and Anwar had given the green light. He said OK, this man is no problem, what he says we can trust. Anwar knows him well and he usually meets with Anwar.. this leftenan kolonel. And he has told many stories to Anwar about this issue. He said to proceed, I then proceeded,” he was quoted as saying.

Raja Petra also said all the individuals had promised to be witnesses if he was charged in court. TV3 said it will carry the second part of the interview at the same news bulletin tomorrow.

PR Sarawak's 10-point manifesto, and DSAI's promise...

YES, the parliamentary Opposition Leader told the Sarawakians that if the Pakatan Rakyat takes over the federal government on any day, the first thing he would do is "TO LOWER THE PETROL PRICES" at the pump, just as he had vowed to do the same just while campaigning for the last 12th General Elections before March 8,2008.

And to Desi, that goes to the heart of the matter for every citizen as PETROLEUM IS A NATIONAL RESOURCE WHICH THE BN GOVERNMENT HAS THUS FAR BEEN TAPPIG ITS RICHES LIKE OIL AND GAS BELONG TO UMNO TO USE AT ITS WHIM AND FANCY. And that's the reasin why Malaysians are not enjoying the price rise of world crudes prices, hitting above USD100 per barrel which translates into more revenues/profits for PETRONAS. Hey, Malaysia is a net producer and exporter of petroleum, so don't swallow the baloney the BN government churns out that the subsidies keep rising leading to the need to raise the pump prices! THat's all hogwash!

And Sdr YB Anwar, once a Finance Minister besides being DPM, hnows the "inside picture" plus THE BIG PICTURE very well. Hence he can promise the Rakyat that a PR government will immediately LOWER THE OIL PUMP PRICES 24 after taking over Putrajaya.

As race tightens, Pakatan talks up chances
By Clara Chooi

The crowd at batu Kawah, Kuching on Sunday for a Pakatan Rakyat rally.

KUCHING, April 13 — Pakatan Rakyat (PR) is confident of Sarawak’s urban vote on polling day this Saturday, but Barisan Nasional (BN) appears to have a lock on its rural interior — to ensure a two-thirds state assembly majority.

However, positive reports continue to stream in for Pakatan Rakyat (PR) from across all 71 state constituencies, offering the pact hope that it can bloody BN’s nose.

Although its leaders prefer to stay cautious, the consistent turnouts at its rallies and encouraging responses from constituents have led them to admit that their confidence levels have outpaced their own expectations.

All three PR parties — PKR, DAP and PAS — have declared that they would increase their seats but stopped short of saying that Sarawak would fall into its hands after this Saturday.

But parties’ intelligence have informed them that response had been more than startlingly positive during all campaign events, from their daily walkabouts, dialogue sessions and nightly ceramah.

DAP’s Wong Ho Leng told The Malaysian Insider that the situation was even more promising than the Sibu parliamentary by-election when he scored an upset.

“Its even better this time. In Sibu, things only became positive towards the end. But here, the support was there from Day One. I just wonder if we can maintain this tempo,” he said.

PAS' spiritual leader Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat at Batu Kawah.
Wong listed five BN incumbent seats as the most promising for DAP — Repok, Pujut, Piasau, Bawang Assan and Batu Kawah.

PKR’s Saifuddin Nasution confidently said that the party was sure that it would increase its popular vote significantly.

“We always compare with the previous state polls and from this, it is too obvious and too hard to deny the good response, especially from the interior areas,” he said.

He added that PKR was particularly confident it would score well in three seats where BN had won previously with wafer-thin majorities — Saribas, Ba’Kelalan and Senadin.

PAS’ Datuk Mustafa Ali said that voter response was so encouraging that the party’s local leaders had now become “overconfident” of its chances.

“BN is underestimating the current revolt. I can see that some of our local leaders and machinery have even become overconfident about our chances. I urged them not to be,” he said.

This is the first statewide election the newborn alliance is contesting under the PR umbrella and is the pact’s rehearsal for the coming federal election, which has to be called by 2013.

While the contest is said to be a referendum on BN’s waning popularity in East Malaysia, it will also serve as an acid test for PR to prove its popularity had grown since its shock victories in the tsunami of Election 2008.

But opposition party sources are concerned over rumours that BN’s final push in its campaign would come in the form of a major handout to PR’s lost opposition ally, Sarawak National Party (SNAP), which is contesting against PKR in 26 seats.

This, said the sources, was tailored to split the opposition vote and guarantee a BN victory.

Wong admitted to hearing the rumours but refused to speculate on it.

When met at the PKR headquarters in Satok here, Saifuddin echoed the same fears.

“We cannot deny that we have been receiving startling support thus far, but the issue now is whether we can sustain until Saturday.

“(Prime Minister Datuk Seri) Najib (Razak) is here and he is like Santa Claus, giving out goodies.

“This will be to our great disadvantage,” he said.

But despite these worries, the PR leaders appeared confident that the opposition had made significant inroads in the past six days, even in areas long considered as BN strongholds.

They were cautious not to declare that they would topple BN in Sarawak but admitted that it was hard to ignore their growing support.

Unlike in the last two state polls in 2001 and 2006, said the leaders, the usually conservative Sarawak voters have now followed their peninsular comrades by thronging opposition rallies in droves, a sight that is alien in their usually peaceful townships.

When federal PR stars like DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang and PAS spiritual adviser Datuk Seri Nik Aziz Nik Mat grace the events, even more leave their homes to join the mad scramble that clog the streets for hours.

For the PR, one major factor has helped boost its campaign - the growing public hatred against Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.

Saifuddin said the sentiment was shared by most of the local communities here, save for the Malay/Melanaus, which make up the third largest segment of the 979,796-strong electorate.

“This group is the toughest nut to crack. The Malay support is just moderate. They have this thought that they should not remove the CM because he is a Malay,” he said.

He recalled that during a dialogue session with villagers at the Senadin constituency, this had been the voters’ primary concern.

The group, he said, had wanted answers from the opposition on why it should remove its Malay Chief Minister as they feared that in doing so, the community would then receive less attention.

“I cannot understand why they would say that because they live in poorly conditions even under Taib’s rule... they live like squatters and they have no clean water.

“But they said — what we ask, we get... except that it takes time... maybe 10 to 15 years. To them, this is okay,” he said in disbelief.

With three days left on the campaign clock, all eyes now will be on BN and its last ditch attempt to quell PR’s growing support.

According to observers the pact’s campaign has been lacklustre despite the deployment of senior federal government leaders and the entire state cabinet to help in the polls.

At events headlined by Najib himself, turnout had paled in comparison with those of PR’s.

Sensing the wave of change sweeping across the hornbill state and noting reports of the opposition’s use of the anti-Taib sentiment to woo support, Najib has even moved to assure voters that the state leader would soon leave.

He has also scheduled a meeting with church leaders, hoping to quell the Christian community’s dissent over the ongoing Alkitab bibles row.

Sarawak will decide on their next government this April 16.

A total of 979,796 are eligible to cast their ballots, with the Chinese community forming the largest segment of the electorate, followed by Ibans, Malay/Melanaus, Bidayuhs and Orang Ulus.

Pakatan unveils manifesto
By MAZWIN NIK ANIS
mazwin@thestar.com.my

KUCHING: Pakatan Rakyat has pledged to guarantee the freedom of belief and provide good governance should it take over the Sarawak government after the April 16 polls.

In unveiling its 10-point manifesto, Pakatan said it acknowledged that Sarawak was rich in natural resources and had the largest land mass, but its people were still among the poorest in Mal-aysia.

It called on the people to vote in a Pakatan government which would implement people-centred policies in the state.

The 10 points in Pakatan’s manifesto are:

> Freedom of belief;

> Good governance;

> Setting up of the Land Reform and Native Land Commission;

> Eradication of poverty;

> Maintenance of good federal-state relations;

> Working towards a greener Sarawak;

> Ensuring a fair deal for all Sarawakians:

> Upholding the importance of culture and education:

> Upholding the rights of women and those with special needs; and

> Investing in the future.

Present at the manifesto’s unveiling were PKR president Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang, PAS Bukit Gantang MP and former Perak mentri besar Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin and Pakatan’s candidates for the state election.

Kota Sentosa candidate Chong Chieng Jen, who is the DAP state secretary, said Pakatan would ensure freedom of religion as enshrined in the Federal Constitu-tion without any hindrance and would not discriminate in providing assistance and allocations for a particular belief.

“Our promise of good governance is premised on the proven international principles of competency, accountability and transparency which will create clean administration of the state’s welfare, provide equal business opportunities and bring back national pride,” he said yesterday.

Chong said if Pakatan was to take over the state, all expiring leases would be renewed unconditionally for 99 years, adding that Putrajaya-Kuching relations would remain good in line with the spi- rit of the Malaysian Agreement 1963.

Under Pakatan’s administration, he said, the people of Sarawak would be assured of stable economic growth, sustainable development and a fairer distribution of income and wealth based on hard work, competitiveness and technological innovation.

As for poverty eradication, he said Pakatan would set up a RM1bil poverty alleviation fund to ensure no family in the state would live below the official poverty line, adding that it would also observe and implement state and international laws on the environment.

“We will respect the constitutional right of members of all ethnic groups to learn their mother tongue.

“We also guarantee gender equality and will review laws that are discriminatory against women.

“Pakatan will also tackle flood problems in the state in two years, provide free WiFi service and make long-term investment in human capital and infrastructure,” he added.

PKR’s Batu Lintang candidate See Chee How said Pakatan had made workable and realistic promises in drafting the manifesto in contrast to Barisan Nasional’s election propaganda which reflected that the coalition was bankrupt of ideas.

See said Chief Minister Tan Sri Taib Mahmud had promised to turn Sarawak into the richest state in Malaysia, but it was already a wealthy state when Taib took over 30 years ago.

“This is the opportunity for the people to elect a new government, and Pakatan Rakyat promises to bring about real transformation in the state,” he said.

Dr Wan Azizah, who described Pakatan’s manifesto as the real deal, called on the rakyat to support the Opposition’s move to create a better future for the state and its people.

“Vote us in first. The Barisan has had 30 years to fulfil its deal but it has reneged on its promises,” she said.

Nizar said Pakatan had three years of experience in managing Penang, Kelantan, Kedah and Sel-angor as well as a few months in Perak.

“Contrary to Barisan’s accusations, we have administrative experience.

“We can manage Sarawak better if we take over because we will use what we have learned in the three years to administer the state,” he said.

Desperate BN - "Sarawak Report" under Attack

Sarawak Report
that has been providing Sarawakians with news has come under heavy cyber attack, the site is almost unreachable, and Toffeesturn has asked its connections in overseas countries to try and log in the site to see if this blockage is confined to Malaysia only.

Replies coming in from Canada, the US, Germany, India and Australia confirm they are facing the same problem.

Judging from the way "Sarawak Report" has come under massive cyber attack which Brown the owner of the site has described as Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack, the type that brought down Wikileaks at one time shows the extent Taib and the BN will go to deny Sarawakians their right to unfettered and uncensored news.

This is a very sophisticated mode of attack and a DDoS attack, multiple bots, or programmes running on servers or personal computers will bombard a site's server with requests to view the site reports Malaysiakini.
by people with huge funds at their disposal, and who do you think they are? Certainly not the Butcher not the Baker and it can't be the candle stick maker either.

Now who would want to such a thing, it surely has to be those who have the most to loose with the revelations from this blog. If the BN says it's not thee BN then we know who its, an if Taib says it is not him we still know who it is.

Sarawak Report is the site and the radio station that has exposed the business dealings of the Sarawak Chief Minister and his i children, and the billions they are alleged to own which he has come out to deny in very one sided news reports and interviews recently.
Just the other day Nazri told us rather unwittingly that the government does not trust the police force,
and now his boss has come out to seemingly admit what we are hearing from the Sarawak Report.

The Star reports that, Najib has said , "Taib has agreed to step down as Sarawak CM some time after state election, leadership change will be done in a planned manner."

This 'Star" report comes on the heels of this massive DDoS cyber attack on "Sarawak Report," so does identifying the cyber attackers pose such a huge problem?

Well the BN has always taken us for fools so, this is not anything new.

.If you notice the words Najib used,".....agreed to step down as CM some time after state elections...." so that can be three years later and he will step down as CM, and can remain senior Minster.

Beware the BN, they have all the tricks to cheat the electorate with, and this is but one of them in the making.
We should have learned our lessons by now, so Sarawak vote wisely.

Malaysian news portal crippled by cyberattacks

KUALA LUMPUR — Malaysia's top news portal Malaysiakini remained crippled Wednesday, more than 24 hours after cyber attackers struck ahead of hotly contested state elections on Borneo island.

Steven Gan, its co-founder and chief editor, said the site would continue to report on Saturday's vote in Sarawak state despite the shutdown, which came days after whistleblowing website Sarawak Report was hit by a similar attack.

"I believe the attack is linked to our reporting on the campaigning for the Sarawak elections and it is no coincidence that this has happened to us three days after Sarawak Report was also attacked," he told AFP.

"We are trying to get our website up and running and we are providing our content for free at the moment as we will continue reporting on what is happening in Sarawak. We will not stop, we will prevail," he added.

Malaysiakini, which gained international fame as an alternative source of news during the rule of former prime minister Mahathir Mohamad, earns part of its revenues from subscriptions.

Gan said the "denial of service" attack began Tuesday morning when the portal's servers were swarmed by massive and coordinated traffic from overseas, forcing it to post its reports on blogsites as well as Twitter and Facebook.

Malaysia's major newspapers and broadcasters are closely linked with the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition, but online news portals and blogs have become a lively forum for dissent and debate.

Saturday's polls in Sarawak, a resource-rich but impoverished state, is viewed as a barometer of the BN's popularity ahead of general elections expected to be called by Prime Minister Najib Razak this year.

However, a key issue in the elections is the fate of the state's chief minister Abdul Taib Mahmud, who has headed Sarawak since 1981.

Websites such as Sarawak Report have been publishing articles on the wealth accumulated by Abdul Taib and his family, as well as allegations linking his close friends to the exploitation of resources in the oil, mineral and timber-rich state.

Malaysiakini has been reporting closely on the state election over the last two weeks and published articles on alleged vote-buying by BN campaigners, as well as the post-election fate of Abdul Taib amid a clamour from critics for him to step down.

Although BN is expected to retain power in Sarawak, where it held 63 of the 71 seats in the state assembly before it was dissolved in March, some analysts say the ruling coalition may lose seats in Saturday's vote.

The opposition is aiming to deny the government a two-thirds majority that effectively allows the BN to pass legislation without any obstruction.
